Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Always find it cringeworthy when people record themselves singing songs like that, skipped in and saw him recording playing his guitar and turned it straight off

Agreed.... Usually I think 'What a T**t'... go do something constructive with your time...

i ťhink i´m in love

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Fucking Poulsen. I'd rather play with 10 men than have him on the pitch. What a joke of a player.

In saying that, an awful team performance in general. Nobody has really shone at all and our play has been miserable to put it nicely. But then I thought that might be the case with the team sheet.

As expected, Ngog offering nothing up front again. Really gutted Suarez can't play because Ngog is pretty useless up front lately.

awfull...i think i don´t watch second half at all...it´s like football in some willage..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

If Sparta score, we're screwed. We'll struggle to come close to creating a chance for one goal, nevermind score two goals.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

we don´t have a midfield, neither attack...

Kuyt, Poulsen, Ngog are complete waste of space ...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I think we might see Maxi sooner rather than later. Also I think we might need to slow the play down, we're too rushed when we've got the ball and we've not got the fastest players so we're struggling to get numbers in attack at times.

Hoping to see Pacheco too but not sure we'll see him.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Christian Poulsen completed only 11 of his 24 passes in the first half v Sparta Prague.

And that despite our possession percentage around 65% :BRICK:

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Kelly's withdrawal at the interval saw Jamie Carragher come on to make what was his 137th appearance in European competition - a British record.

:SAL:

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Well I won't be off to Anfield again in a hurry

Poulsen, Ngog, Kuyt, Lucas and pretty much everyone in the team lacks all forms of composure, technique, passing and most importantly, vision.

I worry if we ever get injuries to Suarez, Carrol and Gerrard.

In other news, Cole had a good 10 minutes... and Kelly was great as ever offering support down the right, just needs to get his head up more often but that will come in time..

Oh and Spearing was better than expected, though replacing Poulsen I think it would have made Nunez look good had he have re-joined us and come on...what a shocking player Poulsen is.

Maybe if Pirlo signs a contract with Juventus (which is not unlikely), Aquilani comes back and we never have to see this joke of player again with the red shirt. This guy is an insult to our club.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

i rate spearing, he is very good, much better than Poulsen and it was not his first performance like that..Kelly is boss - best RB at the club..hope it stayes his position for long time..

i belive we see Cole, Poulsen last season here..

we need to move on but this was bad to watch...awfull football for fans..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Is Roy back? Such bad football.
One would be inclined to have doubts about the manager...

This is the difference between Hodgson and Dalglish.
Dalglish gets credit and Roy never ever had credit.
If most Liverpool fans are honest they will have to admit that the results under Dalglish are not as good as expected. I'm still not sure if Liverpool needed a new manager (well, yes they did because the fans were fed up with Roy, that became a problem). I'm pretty certain the club needs other players.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Not as good as expected? We've conceded one goal in the last 7 games, and it's too early to check but haven't we only lost one game under Dalglish and that was to Utd in the cup?

The difference is Kenny is trying to get the players to play FOOTball, Roy has us playing HOOFball. And I'm pretty sure Roy conceded more than 1 goal in 7 games, and he didn't win as many games and that's with Fernando Torres in the side whereas now Ngog has to take the role.

I'm sorry but that's a ridiculous post and unbelievably naive.

Edit: Actually we lost to Blackpool too. So under Kenny, it's P10 W5 D3 L2. And both losses were the first two games of Kenny taking over, the first of which he'd been in charge of the team for a day or so? So we're also unbeaten in 8 games.

So last 8 games then? P8 W5 D3 L0 F9 A3

That's not as good as you expected?

And that's after him taking over from a manager who had decimated the players morale to the point where the likes of Reina were so fed up and wanted to leave, as well as pushing out Agger and touting him to clubs in Europe and now Agger is possibly the best performer since Kenny arrived. Also the players are learning a vastly different style of football. Also the last couple of games we've had to cope with losing Torres, and with Carroll not fit and Suarez ineligible for Europe, we've had to play Ngog. A big change to the system.

If you think that's so bad and he should've done better, I'd love to see what kind of record you expect managers to have after 10 games in the same situation

Got to get ready for work now but if you're bored, you could go through the other teams in the league and see how we stack up against their last 10 games as well? It'd be interesting to see and maybe the results would be unexpected for you?

Edit: Saved you a bit of work.

Not too bad then. What? You expected better? We should be top?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

He does have far more credit than Hodgson, although I was dubious about his appointment he looks like he is going to prove me wrong (which is great).

Dags' post sums up the stat part. Obviously the team will still have poor performances, the squad is still too weak and that won't change this season. But unlike Hodgson, the team keeps a clean sheet and gets the win, even with the crap players and the key ones missing out.

Since he's taken over and had the players train with Clark the team has been far better and gettting the results. The Wigan result could have easily been a win (making it 5 wins on the trot and 0 conceded) but it showd the lack of squad depth with the players looking tired. Same for the EL matches, missing key players and the team gets pedestrian, but they still won and got through without conceding a goal.

Not really sure what else people can expect with the team that got put out.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Am I alone in thinking Kelly should be England's starting RB? Far better than the defensively clueless duo of Johnson and Richards.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Oops Dags, that hurt..it was never my intention...
Looking at those stats i was wrong sorry...

But like tiktik said: Kenny does have more credit than Roy.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I guess it's mainly because Kelly hasn't had much first team action, how much has Walker had?

Would be nice to see him play for England but then on the other hand, it's another player who's at risk of being injured in daft international friendlies.

And for good reason, Kenny has done far more in his managerial career than Roy has. Also Kenny tries to play the kind of football that every football fan wants to see, whereas Roy was happy with non-league style of the defenders being told they can't keep hold of the ball and to "just fucking boot it" at every chance (as shouted by Roy to Agger during a game).

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Really? I thought Kelly's started virtually every game since Kenny's arrival.

Don't know about Walker but he only joined Villa on loan in January, unless Capello was watching him play regularly on loan at QPR prior to the Villa loan.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Yep, but he wasn't a regular before Kenny arrived, played less than a handful under Roy I think?

Is 10~ games enough to judge someone for an England place at the moment? Not sure. In saying that, I think he'd do a good job for England if he got called up now. He's a mature lad, composed and not afraid to get up and down the wing with the ball. And he's better defensively than Johnson.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

kyle walker was picked based on two outings for the villians.kelly on the other hand has had much more starts in the premiership.why walker is ahead of him,i dont know(actually i do,capello aint scouse now is he?).but it was only a friendly.glen johnson will retain that spot when it gets serious.while i do think kelly is a good player, better than johnson??defensively maybe.but arbeloa was twice the player this two are and yet people werent happy with him.remeber it vividly folks goin on about how it was okay to let arby go as johnson was "the key to turning rafa's draws to wins"!local lad maybe?same goes for spearing.be the first to admit that poulsen was poor last night but so was spearing.matter of fact he just looks like a league 1 footballer nothing more.but hey,he's local!personally would take poulsen over spearing anyday, everyday.if of cos i had no other choices.kelly is a player i'd readily have in my squad but spearing?on that note, whats up with darby that people were raving bout not so long ago?????get my point?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Plus, there was a transfer market coming. Insted of signing Suarez and Carroll, Hodgson would have gone for Dempsey and Carton Cole.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I think Dempsey is a very good player and would certainly be one of the better Liverpool players.
Furthermore i'm not so sure if it's true what you pretend: last season Dempsey was regularly on the bench at Fulham (after his injury, maybe that was the reason). I don't see why Dempsey should be a lesser transfer than Caroll? He certainly has proven more than Caroll until now.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Dempsey is a good player but we needed strikers.

And it was widely reported that Cole and Dempsey were definitely targets for Liverpool, with Cole's transfer falling through at the last minute in the Summer window (fortunately).
