Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I think he's been good at LB, more solid in defense but still putting good crosses in. If anything he should cut inside a bit more and have some shots. Kelly was winning nearly everything at RB and has enough pace and a good cross to be dangerous. I'm quite pleased with the defense atm.

Raheem Sterling scored five times as Liverpool U18s stormed into the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup with a 9-0 win over Southend United at Anfield.

Every time I've seen Newcastle play I've liked Jose Enrique, and today we're being linked with him. I'd have him bombing on at left back.

He's one of the players single handedly keeping Newcastle up! Him, Nolan and Barton to be more specific now that Carroll is gone.

He would be a good purchase but will Liverpool continue to buy Spanish players? :P

With Torres, Xabi and Rafa gone, suddenly Liverpool isn't as attractive as it used to be for Spanish players and it could work the other way with some fans as well who after a period of seeing many Spanish ones would now prefer other nationalities. Not that this is a big deal at all though, very small and minor point.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Did you see the pic on the previous page PLF? There are more then enough spanish speaking players at the club for that to not be an issue imo. And Enrique has played in England for a few years now, so unless he wants to go back to Spain, or somewhere with decent weather, Liverpool are probably the most pro Spanish club in England.

Good to see Chelsea draw, and nearly lose last night. Anyone else thinking that now they are out of the title race they might get a bit depressed and focus on the CL....meaning Liverpool could actually finish above them.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Pleased for Sterling, who apparently had a cracking game besides his goals. Speaking to Paul Boreham, a Southend fan, he also said that Coady and Robinson also had good games while Banton was getting a lot of praise.

Add in Suso, who didn't seem to be mentioned much and was subbed off last night but still a massive talent, and our youth and future looks very promising for the first time in YEARS! Credit has to go to Rafa for revamping the youth academy and bringing these players in as well.

You forgot about Newcastle 's best and most consistent player this season: Tioté.

the difference is that Enrique playes few years now in EPL and is used to this style of football..all others you mentioned came to LFC from Spain league.. As long as players get their money they are atracted.. look at Man. City.. Silva is only spanish player there i think..

who knows, he might even coach them in few years if they are in first team..becouse i think Suso, Coady, Sterling and some others have the chance to be new Carra, Stevie .. Barnes (?) :D

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

That's racist.

being compared to one of first great jamaica born player (with dark skin) in the league and who was also fantastic and well respected player is racist?

He playes same position as Barnes, LW...if he was a DM we would not say he is new Sissoko...

lol...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

good team tonight, wonder how Wilson will take his chance... also i hope we see Suarez and Sterling tonight :)

go reds!

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Sterling not on the bench, not surprising given how much attention he's been given this week. Glad to see Coady on the bench though.

Suarez is cup-tied too.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Disappointing first half with zero attacking threat whatsoever. Ngog, Maxi and Kuyt completely useless really and something needs to change because those three can play for hours and we won't be a threat.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

i realy feel sorry for the fans who paid to watch this match..i should have been there, i´m happy it didn´t worked out.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Dalglish says he was happy with the result....

If there is one negative about Kenny....is that during his time at
Newcastle, he was known as a bit boring in his tactics...
compared to Keegan...

Hopefully we start playing better at West Ham ....
we need to start winning again...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I wouldn't say Kenny's tactics have been boring at all? :CONF: He also stated that he feels we weren't as much of an attacking threat as he'd have liked but 0-0 is still a good result away from home in Europe regardless.

He's made a great start and it's not like we lost against Wigan or Sparta Prague so I'm not too concerned. And it's not like Rafa didn't set the team out more defensively when away in Europe and he didn't do too badly ;)

In saying that, last night really highlighted the need for better attacking players. Ngog had hardly any support and didn't do a fantastic job when he did get the support (although he's hardly played to be fair), but the rest of the team just seemed too happy to sit back.

We missed a playmaker last night, with Gerrard out we seemed to lack any drive or a pass that was able to split their defence.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

if this was Hodgson we would be moaning like fook...

that centre back for them lastnight, i wish carrol was playing so he could smash him...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Yep, was thinking the same last night during the game. But then, in hindsight, the style of play last night was Hodgson's usual fare whilst it's not what we're used to with Kenny.

If it ever gets to a stage where we're playing like last night on a regular basis then it's time to be concerned but we know last night wasn't our usual game, no manager plays flawless football every match .... well, maybe Guardiola but his players are a little bit better ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Only saw the second half, but I thought it was decent enough. There was little effort to attack, but the team looked in control for most of the match, keeping possesion and passing it about. That is very different from Hodgson. I'm not sure of the level Sparta is at (whether we should be expecting to roll them over) but it's a decent result.

But the attacking side of the squad was shown to be lacking depth. Without Suarez and Gerrard (and hopefully Carrol) the team is very light on attacking threat.

don´t think so mate, Hodgson was awfull in PL too.. I am happy about Kenny and i never want to go back to Hodgson ever..

But i feel dissapointed myself as i looked forward for long to see this match in TV and previously i wanted to go myself and i know the tickets were crazy overpriced, so for that i was expecting us to play for a win...

we have to look at this from Dalglish situation.. since he could not use his signings yet + he rested Gerrard, Agger, Skrtel.. it´s a good european away draw afterall...

only thing that i realy worry about is Kenny not using Pacheco..in this kind of matches he would be 10 times better than Maxi and Kuyt yesterday.. Maxi for me is very poor footballer..sorry. Kuyt is worse every match in my opinion.. or he should have been used as CF yesterday instead of Ngog..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

It's interesting that Pacheco hasn't got a look-in under Dalglish yet, and Roy didn't give him a chance either.

Maybe he has tons of talent but his overall tactical brain isn't great, he's not a team player, doesn't work hard enough, not strong enough? Clearly something there that's holding him back.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

not strong enough is dead point in premier league now, look at Wilshere..doube he is stronger than Pacheco or stronger build..

Pacheco proved in few matches as sub he can do something , he is moving well + he playes great for Spain NT in his age category..

don´t know what´s wrong and why he is not starting.. would be shame to see him move out, becouse he has the talent to deserve a chance..
