Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)
Ello Lads,
Cautious optimism, it's my default setting for anything to do with Liverpool.
Torres - I'm split down the middle. I can understand him wanting to leave, maybe last summer or this coming summer, not now. His little dig "I'm at a top club now" was basically going back on him talking about how special Liverpool are, a global historic institution with recent triumphs to boot. It will be easier for the man to win trophies at Chelsea, but he's taking the easy way out. Chelsea are EXPECTED to win everything in sight with the resources that have, resources that have been thrust upon them withour earning it. Torres has made a step down in his career, it's a less supported club, a less famous club, and a club that like Livepool, will need to go through a transitional stage.
However, the man did wait for several seasons to be surrounded with more quality, he actually cried out for a player like Tevez who can play the lines, just as Suarez can and WILL do. But it never really came. If Torres doesn't have faith that the new owenrs, the current players, and the coaching setup are unable to restore Liverpool to a position were were in only 2 seasons ago, then it is up to us, as a club to prove him and everyone else who wants to take a swipe at our "fallen giant" status.
Personally, the whole thing has reinvigorated my passion for LFC. Kenny coming in and bringing back the old ways of the boot room, pepping up the crowd and marking down a signal of intent. We WILL attack you, and Liverpool football club will move forward as a unit, not as a disjointed team that relies on having the marque players to pull us through any trouble.
Whatever happens on Sunday, Torres could well score, the boy could absolutley light up his career with the service he will receive, but whatever happens, we shouldn't let it get on our backs. Shout and sing about LFC, that will make him think twice about what he's going to miss out on. We reached two Champions League finals without Torres, and we can do that again. We ARE coming up the hill, whatever happens on Sunday.
Carrol was expensive, but that money was to ensure we got him. Our net spend is tiny, the price for Torres was fantastic, and the spending won't end in the Summer. Carroll realises the belief certain people have in him to recognise and realise his MASSIVE potential. He IS a cocky player with an arrogant swagger about him, he will offer us something different, he will fight, put himself about and will absolutley bully defenders, something Torres often relied on others to do for him to operate at his best. The best thing is that Suarez will take the pressure off Andy. And when defenders are worrying about Andy's presence, you've got one heck of an intelligent, clever, leathel striker waiting to exploit that.
Last night -
Agger is thriving under Kenny. Lets use him like we should. Lucas was absolutley immense. Not really a bad performance from anyone, and I think we have some gems waiting to get into the match day squad. Shelvey has something about him, he's 18 and yet looks so comftable on the ball and has this really arrogant flair about him. Sterling (16) and Suso have been called into the first team squad.
I think we need quality wingers in the summer, and then we are set to challenge for things again. But how many times have I said that about wingers?
