Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

At the end of the day, it was not all up to the player, even if he handed in a transfer request, they didn't have to sell him. But with an offer of 50m, who would turn it down?

At least you got good money for him, very different from what happened with, say, Arsenal being backstabbed by that c*nt Cashley.

The point is we did turn it down, It was official anouncment he is not for sale...We accept it after Torres himself gave the transfer request to listen to this offer after it was made...

as Kenny said he is not biger than club and he wants players here that want to be here.

Seeing Torres in that Chelsea interview.......no words....feels so wrong..
this man's so-called loyalty.....he said the right words at the right
time....and now joined the top class club he wanted in the summer...
and could not get the chance....
no wonder he played his best game against chelsea.....
he has got his wish....with the so-called top class players
like Lampard, Terry and Drogba...

When we play him...let us not boo him..... but ignore him.
This is worse than what Owen did.....but he does not deserve
the boos or abuse....he deserves Liverpool winning...we must win
that game next weekend...

Suarez will be a terrific signing....given some time...

Caroll can potentially be good.....overpriced...but he does not
seem the type of person who cares...

This reminds me so much of Rush leaving and being replaced by
Aldridge and Beardsley who were not anywhere near Rush's goals
or reputation....

FSG have done what they could...in the limited time we had....
A big thanks to them for at least backing up their words with
actions in the transfer market....

Now....this will lift Liverpool.....and give Kenny the chance
to make something happen....

for me what is best positive thing about all is that the new owners are imo looking to give chance to Kenny to not be just a caretaker...clearly he is building his own team now with long term contract to this players but also it start´s to shape the way he did 20 years ago..

i don´t say we win title, but we need to be in the top 4 asap.

and there is no man alive better to do this with the players than Kenny right now.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

So bitter about an interview for the official Chelsea site? Don't remember many revolting when Joey Cole -self proclaimed Chelsea fan- came out with similar bull.

Believe it or not coming to us was probably a step up for his career. You know like the one Andy Caroll did and the one you wanted Adam to make.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

yes, becouse he was player in downhill at chelsea and came for free after you haven´t resigned him...Most of all he did not leaved in the same manner as Torres...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

He left Chelsea because of his high wage demands that only you were willing to meet. So basically he joined you for money.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

At the end of the day you were the winners. You were given two magnificent players (despite Carroll's overpaying) but the most important, your club sent a clear message: LFC are back and is bigger than anyone.

The only winner there its Newcastle, not to mention that managing to pay more for Carroll than for Suarez is gold.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

So in terms of money, Babel + Torres = Carroll + Suarez, doesn't look so bad I guess.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Also been confirmed that we came close to getting Young as well but couldn't quite get a fee agreed with Villa, as well as the bid for Adam.

Summer is going to be huge I reckon, a lot of players leaving and new players replacing them. The rebuild has started.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I´m confident we weill move for Adam in summer and a few more players..

Looks like now we are secured in financial ways so it´s all about the team to return this to the owners and fans on pitch.. But as said i belive we are in the process of rebuilding...i hope we get rid of all who don´t want to play for the red shirt...and those who want i hope they perform..

We also have loaned players to sort out so it will be bussy but i have faith it will be only good in future..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Carroll will definetly not, he is injured and will be back most probably on chelsea match, Suarez might play but i doubt he will be from start..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

on a side note i honestly can see liverpool finishing either 6th 5th or 4th.

prefer they finish in the top 4. they are a great club in which i have mad respect for and loved it when arsenal where fighting with liverpool for honours.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

thanks if i could pick one team over all other to win the trophy it would be Arsenal, not becouse they don´t have a chance, wich is not the case...or less trophys than United, but becouse they play great attacking football and always seem to find right players for chaep and turn them to world class. Their fans are as well racional and not glory hunting.. just enjoying great football.

Yeah,i agree with you.Last season torres scores 18 goals in 22 matches at EPL,but just 9 goals in 23 matches at this season. He is not as fast as before. 50M pounds is a good deal for LFC.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

IMO Torres did a very stupid thing. The only advantage he has is that he can play CL football this season.
In the long term he would be better off with Liverpool.

Yesterday Chelsea did spend 58 million euro on Torres and 25 million euro on David Luiz, that is 83 million euro.

Incidently Chelsea yesterday also made a statement that they had made a loss of 83 million on a year basis...

Torres is not the brightest lad in the world.

Apart from Carroll (who also has attitiude problems if i'm not mistaken), i think Liverpool are better off than Torres himself.

IMO Liverpool have a brighter future than Chelsea.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

More excited the more I think about it.

Beforehand, teams could just focus on Torres and pick him out by kicking him/doubling up on him. And that's pretty much that, our attack nullified.

Now we'll have teams worried about Carroll's strength and aerial threat as well as his powerful shots, then they'll be worried about Suarez drifting around looking for the ball and getting into spaces.

And then while they're being watched, we'll have Gerrard, Meireles, Lucas, Maxi, Kuyt, Johnson and Kelly also lurking and posing an attacking threat.

Yesterday has probably made us a bucketload more of a threat attacking than we actually were with just Torres playing.

I wish I were as enthused as you Dags, but the last weeks Torres is playing like the old, Goals for fun. That will be missed, and I really2 hope Carroll isn't Heskey v2.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Regardless of ability, talent and what any player has previously achieved at a club... If he decides he wants to leave, then he should.

A player is only any use to a club if they want to be there.

A hungry player is an asset and a valuable one.

I want players that will run through a brick wall if so instructed by Kenny.

Nando has been selective with his performances for over 12 months now.

I would rather have Carrol going for a 50/50 than Nando. He shows commitment from the 1st minute to the full time whistle. Just ask Newcastle fans.

I feel sorry for Newcastle but the same thing applies about players wanting to be around.

If players (Nando) are so desperate for success and a trophy cabinet brimming with silverware, how many would play for free?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

@ Dags,

I had the same thoughts yesterday. As individuals they aren't as dangerous as Torres. However as a team there are now more attacking threats. For the Prem the team might be more dangerous, however I'm not sure in Europe (specifically CL) that the players and tactics will be as effective. But time will tell. Hopefully Carrol will pu tthe effort in, as I've just read textmessage's from him on 365 that he was gutted to have to leave.

Re Ryan,

Can Torres? Suarez can't as far as I know. I'm not sure on the rules, are they pan european competitions or per competition?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Something abit off topic of late, from El-Hadji Diouf after sealing a loan move to Rangers:

"I am very happy to join one of the biggest clubs in the world,'' he told the club's official website. "This club has a great history. It will be great to wear the shirt and I will do my best.

I'll add "... that wants a Diouf in their team" to that statement.

Agree with this. I'm not going to say Carroll isn't worth what was paid as who knows at this moment in time? It seems excessive but he could end up being worth every penny! Fingers crosses it works out but in Kenny we trust... I never said in Rafa we trust as after his first season he turned the team into a boring one and even though it was solid and hard to beat, I couldn't stand watching them play anymore! Hope these new guys bring a bit more imagination to our game. Def need some wingers in the summer though and don't mind going back in for Adam as he does look quite decent in all fairness. Nice footballer who keeps ball moving and can pick out good passes.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

As I saw someone say earlier, a starving man will pay more for a loaf of bread, moreso if the shop is about to close.

The fee does seem a bit steep, but then what other targets were realistically available at such short notice? And could also improve our English quota? And I remember saying they didn't think Torres was worth what we paid for him either, he did alright in the end.

Very pleased with our business yesterday, looking forward to the summer where I expect there's going to be more of a revamp. Hazard strongly linked with us, would be a good signing.

Carroll is still out for a few weeks yet, he isn't due to start running until next week according to John Bradley (LFC Official commentator) so he's not even training yet. It'll be around 2-3 weeks before he's in the team.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)
