Yep, the spine has been ripped out of the team. Just hope we can keep Reina in the summer.
Although as I posted earlier, the team was really built around Torres and Gerrard, and Alonso. There wasn't anything, or anybody else to offer much if they didn't perform. You would hope the team is getting more balanced and has more danger overal. You now have potentially Gerrard, Meireles, Carrol and Suarez and hopefully a winger (although it's looking less and less likely) playing in a more balanced, less centrally focused team.

There must be 15 better strikers in the Premiership alone.
This will go down as the wordt transfer in Liverpool's history and yes, you can quote me on this in a couple of years when i'm wrong.
A question: how many goals does Caroll have to score till the end of the season before you guys consider this a good transfer? I know that goals aren't everything but we are talking about a striker...

@ Gerd,
Won't only be about the goals, but I would say 10 is a decent return. With Suarez getting 5 goals and 5 assists. Although I think it will be more interesting to see how he works with Gerrard and Suarez. And that the value will be down to how well the team plays with them both on the field. Same with Crouch, he didn't score a lot but made the players around him better.
Torres is the opposite in that he is that good that the rest of the team thinks that they can rely on him to do everything. Same problem with Gerrard, however the team is looking more balanced with Meireles and Lucas less inclined to just-pass-it-to-stevie and take more responsibility.
It's definitly a gamble, and could ridiculously backfire. But Commoli has a good record with transfers and Carrol is still very young. I can't see him getting worse with the players around him now and he can still develop a lot. I think the biggest risk will be whether they can get him to stay out of trouble off the field. He totally destroyed Liverpool's defense earlier in the season with a great performance (speed, power, skill) so if they can get him to consistantly perform to that level it's worth the money.

Every club has its idiots, embarrassing. Always going to happen though, I imagine when a player with the icon status that Torres had leaves any club then the idiots do crazy stuff.

totally agree,Carroll to me is just a younger version of Duncan Ferguson, i cant see him scoring at the same rate as Torres. Liverpool should have waited til the summer and played Kuyt and Suarez up front for the rest of the season

This is the problem with signing English players especially an unproven one like Carroll.
For the same amount of money Aguero will probably leave Atletico this summer.
Okay they are two different types of forward but then you look at Dzeko 27M GBP for instance.
I can understand what Kenny is doing ie build a core of British players at the club ie Warnock, Adam other targets but this seems a bit steep price wise.
This is why many clubs here go overseas.

Kinda feel sorry for Adam, it a huge step for him and it might not be an option for him in the summer. Still time left though.

Carroll for 36m is a joke tbh. The price of english players is whats killing our national side.
Because there soo expensive, teams like arsenal, chelsea and even united dont bother looking at local talen and just grab teh cheapest nasri/nani they can find for peanuts who ***** all over MOST english players.
Chammack for instance i would say from a none bias opinion that he is slightly better then andy carrol yet we got him for free! even if we had to buy him, he was only priced at 12m i think it was!
Look at vdv from spurs. bargain and again ***** all over many english players. how the **** can english players prosper in top english sides when a player like darren bent and ****ing andy cole costs over 30m??? a ****ing joke.
