Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Oh my god. 35M for Carroll is a ripp off, I rate the lad but I wouldnt buy him for more than 15/20M. What a waste of money.
But we should thank Torres for this. He put us in an impossible situation. Either keep a player that wants to go or let him go and go out there and be prepare to pay ridiculous amount of money. What a traitor.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

That's the price of buying someone's starter on the last day of the market. Way overpriced, but seeing as there aren't any alternatives right now..... What about short term solutions like Forlan?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Carroll money is to much but then again he could say no as boyhood Toon.... we will see...

Torres + Babel + Konchesky for Adam + Suarez + Carroll and in summer a winger from rest of money + Aquilani money...i guess good job..

nobody wanted Torres to go but...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

What do you mean by Aquilani ´s money ? Juventus havent bought him yet, they would do that in July.
Aguero has just renewed his contract and has a release clause of 45M of Euros.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Carroll has told Newcastle he wants to leave, SSN saying he's on his way to Liverpool now.

Craziest deadline day I can think of, by far.

Suarez - Carroll

Young - Meireles - Lucas - Gerrard

Then you've got the likes of Adam to fit in there as well as Kuyt and Maxi.

I mean if we get money from possible Aquilani buy from Juve...

Honestly i doubt he is on his way back, Kenny never mentioned him so far and he said himself he want to stay in Juve..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Seems a while since Liverpool were in the market on deadline day like this. Remember Berbatov to United and Robinho to City? I remember the last minute tug of war between City and United for Berba.

Under Gillette and Hicks, we've been making profits from each window. Any money we made was used on paying the banks' interest. Now we're debt-free, we can finally afford to buy players and not worry about selling to make up the numbers.

Of course he is not coming back. That was something we knew since the moment the genious of Purlsow decided to put a 13.5 buyout on the loan. But I thought you meant that Liverpool owners had collected the money of his transfer this month.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

no mate, i´m just thinking that with potencial buy of Carroll and Adam, it would be realy great window if we manage to add Young there...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Erm? losing Fernando Torres and replacing him with Andy Carroll for a fee of 35M isn't a good window in ANY way. I just can't believe Newcastle turned down 30M earlier and you upped it to 35.

You mean losing Torres, who's injury prone and not happy, has been swapped for a young, promising English striker and a world-class Uruguayan with a good eye for goal?

Can't see the problem myself. Now paying £8m for a player who had never played at the highest level in Portugal really and had no reputation .. well... ;)

LOL who should have known he will ask for transfer, do you think i or any LFC supporter wanted Torres out?

btw, we are not loosing Torres for Carroll....we are accepting his transfer bid - selling him for god knows how much (hopefully 50 mil.) and buying fast replacement in england national striker who is only quality avileable in few hours...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I don't guy, but in Kenny we trust ! Price is that big, like i said, price is big becouse no one want to sell their striker in last day.

As for Caroll I think £20m would be a reasonable price for him considering the fact he's been the most effective English striker this season but £35m are just too much when u compare with the sum of money Real Madrid paid for Mesut Ozil.
I for one think Ozil is much better than Caroll and he joined RM for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £13m.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Btw i think you dont watch many Blackpool matches to call Charlie Adams medicore...
seen enough actually, havin a good season but so did alot of other one season wonders...eg.zaki.Adam is playin for blackpool for a reason,he is a joke up up in scotland. Please, this time last year it was "lets sign beckford""simon church is a helluva player"
also is Suarez British?
actually meant the likes of warnock, young, adam(previously luke young, carlton cole*shudders*etc) and paying 35mill for the new duncan ferguson.cost more than tevez?more than dzeko?more than villa?just 13 mill less for a world class striker we sold?????we are gettin done...again as always.FFS,its like coco never left!

yes but how many years did Ozil have in his contract to Werder? BTW he is not a striker and he wanted to go to real, i doubt Real was only team after him...

it could be the same case as Afellay for Barca...if he had more years on his contract with PSV he would not be going to barca for peanuts...that is 3 mil. euros ..

Newcastle can ask this for Carroll, since he signed 5 year contract season ago...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Saw someone also make a good point about the home-grown rule, very valid in our case.

I dont think Zaki is one season wonder, he is just stupid. Adam can´t be joke for Scotland, if he represents the country...players develop, they are getting better and worse...Torres is a sign that a player without wanting to fight with his heart can get worse....Adam is a fighter and i hope we sign him..

Mate what gives you the idea that spain top players could do well in EPL if you never try them.. Would Messi fit in our system? would he shine here? This is exactly what i read on RAWK in the quote..

Also what if you have superstars in your team..Look at madrid, they struggle with their amazing superstars and special coach...they play bad football to watch and the likes of Villareal are very near to overcome them in La Liga without any amazing world class star...

If Kenny want to build a team, he need to build it wise...buying players that are proven in this league and are international players wich all of yours mentioned are, i dont think it´s bad for the team.. BTW, It was Hodgson who wanted Cole not Kenny ...Torres is world class, but he want to be world class for other team mate...for Chelsea FC.

here is the post from RAWK i meant..
You know are we not supposed to be knowledgeable?

Im sick of tired of reading in threads, Adam isnt good enough, Young isnt good enough. Why do we need only high calibre players? Can someone enlighten me?

Look at Madrid. A veritable whose who of stars, yet they cant win a dickiebird. We had Alonso, Masch, Reina, Torres and Gerrard and won nothing.

World class players do not equal great teams. As Liverpool fans we should know this more than anyone. Yes the game may have changed somewhat but the basics remain the same.

Would you say Manchester United have a world class team? How many world class players do they have? Rooney? er...thats it? I wouldnt bracket Vidic, Nani or Berabtov as world class, good but not world class. Their team is average. You know why they are successful? Because they live and die as a team with a manager in charge who gets the very best out of them.

When Rushy left in 87 Kenny went out and bought Beardsley, the best player from a mid table club, Barnes, the best player of a mid to bottom club and Aldo and Houghton from a bottom club. We stormed the league.

Its about the right components not the biggest talents. We need to get back to basics. I think for too long now we've been as a team overly reliant on Gerrard, over reliant on Torres and Alonso and its made the team suffer massively, theres no collective focus. I have faith under Kenny he will get the team playing as a cohesive attacking unit, whether thats with Charlie Adam or Young or not.

I want to see us get back up there, i want us to play attacking football, i want us to have teams fearful of Anfield again, i dont want a team having to only nullify one aspect of our team to render us useless. If that means we have 11 players from the spl, league 1 and lower prem, so be it.

Just remember although football has become big business its the man in charge who directs the team, not superstars and anyone who can remember how the old boot room did it will know that.

Patience with kenny, faith in his ability, his decisions on purchases will go along way, so let's all cut out the spoilt Champ manager esq squealing, get back to what we know best.

Over and out.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Yup, that's what just wanned to say. He has home-grown status and he's played in Premier League very well (more goals than Rooney and Primadonna Torres) and he don't need to acclimate. Guys, don't be crying about price, it's best we can do in this moment. Newcastle don't want to give their best striker in last minute that's why they giving big price and also that's why we want big money for Torres. Again, I don't belive... I know, that Kenny know's what he's doing!

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Think about it guys, why can't we just use the ones we have here. Certainly we can find better player with such money in the summer. Let's put Suarez + Ngog in the front, Kuyt can back up as CF while put Gerrard / Maxi in right side while having Charlie Lucas and Merieles in the middle. Not the best side but surely Comolli's not as dumb as my Arsenal cousin thinks by buying Carrol for 40 freaking million right?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

i doubt we will splash that much for him but then again as mentioned before, we have new owners that we dont know how rich they are...let´s wait and see...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

It's 50 mill in euros right?

From the look of it, if you get Adam,Suarez, and Carrol for the price you sold Torres then it might be a good market. Could have done much better in the summer though.

again this situation is due to Torres transfer request, without it we would not think about anyone else then adam and suarez, maybe Young..

In summer Torres price could well be smaller with him not playing his best for us or if we ship him to reserves....also Carroll might be much higher prize, knowing Tottenham wanted to splash money on him...and knowing City migh buy another 5 strikers who knows... i´m off...see you guys in few hours.. :JAY:
