Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)
such a shame really. cant say he diddnt give you guys a go. he stuck by u lot through some bad times and i reckon he wants to go now because he cants ee liverpool progressing.
he deserves to win medals. his a fantatsic player when his in his mood. But he hasnt been happy at liverpool for ages. he use to be spains main striker but now david villa has taken that spot
Tbf he hasn't really "stuck by" us through much hardship.
1st season (07/08) - his breakthrough season, scored 33 goals and we got to the Champions League semi-final and were very unlucky not to make it to the final thanks to a Riise own-goal. Qualified for the Champions League for the following season. Lets not forget that until he joined Liverpool he'd never even played in the Champions League before.
2nd season (08/09) - Had quite a few injuries, Liverpool had their best ever Premier League season finishing second on 86 points. During this season we had some massive memorable moments like beating Real 5-0 on aggregate, beating Man Utd 4-1 at Old Trafford and beating both United and Chelsea home and away. Got to the Champions League quarter final in an epic which ended 7-5 on aggregate to Chelsea
3rd season (09/10) - the first bad spell, everything went wrong this year as the battle between the manager and the owners exploded and the fans did all they could to get rid of H&G. Rafa took his eye off the ball because of the problems with the owners and the team suffered. Still got to the Europa League semi-finals (and were robbed in the end by the ridiculous away goals rule which shouldn't count in extra-time imo). Torres also missed most of the season through injuries.
Then on to the current season, things started really badly under Hodgson and never really improved until he went. But with new owners and no debt the club is clearly on the up again, Kenny had instantly changed the style of play and there's confidence in the team again. We've just added Luis Suarez to compliment Torres's style of play. Still in the Europa League (and with a relatively easy draw in the next round) so the season isn't over yet.
Last season was a disaster we can all see that, but due to the fact that he missed large portions of the last two seasons i think he owed us at least one more full season and especially now that the owners are backing up their claims by bringing in quality players i think he's in too much of a rush to leave and should at least stay for the remainder of this season to see just how much we can improve. I know people say he's 26 and can't afford to wait, but i'm sorry yes he can afford to wait 5 months, if he'd waited til the end of the season and we still hadn't improved then i'd fully understand him wanting to leave, no question, but it feels like he's leaving just as we're showing signs of getting back up there and him leaving could knock us back down again, which is the worst part.
