Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

In summary, can't be arsed writing properly.

Fair result, we probably should've won if anything.

Torres looks like he's getting better with each game.

Johnson not too bad at LB, Kelly MOTM for me and is the number one for RB.

Skrtel is a liability, has been dodgy all season and would rather see Wilson there or Kelly and put Johnson at RB until we find a better CB.

Not overly impressed with Kuyt or Maxi, limited creativity from both.

Spearing had a very good game, was dubious about him starting but paid off. Would always pick him ahead of Poulsen. Lucas did well.

Dowd and his officials were poor for both teams, refereeing is shocking in the Premier League.

Definate signs of progress, our play is still improving. Kenny said himself after the match that the players are learning a different system than Roy had them playing and they're getting better with each game.

We've got one hell of a hard week out of the way now so we can look forward and I expect us to continue to progress with the style of play and learning to adapt. One or two new players to freshen things up and we'll have a better second half than a first half of the season.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I would really like to have Ngog start and Torres finish so he can have a go at those tired legs being 100%.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I don't think tiredness is a problem at all for Torres, it's a confidence issue. And he's definitely sulking less since Kenny arrived and the ball is being played to his feet instead of his head.

Getting better with each game and looked like the Torres we expect at times today.

Agger has an illness, he's not been well for days and not been eating properly.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

And he probably needs a breather since he hasn't had a rest for a month or two? Maybe he's not that tired but facing a tired defense might be the insentive for him to smell blood and really attack and get the groove back.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I really don't think tiredness or needing a rest is a problem at all. His workrate has been fine over the last few games, he's not looking lethargic or anything like that.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

He's looking sharper and sharper imo. Less running into cul de sac's and more keeping his head up to look for teammates. Also he is actually smiling again, noticed it on wednesday near the end when Shelvey tried to get him in at the far post but over hit the ball out. Normally you would get an shrug, or irritated look (Gerrard would have had a go) but instead he applauded him for the vision and jeered him up to keep going.

It's a small shift in mentality, but it's very noticable imo. Goes for the rest of the team aswell.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Dalglish commented that there's some senior players in the squad that the fans haven't seen eye to eye with, and that Konchesky and Poulsen will be given chances so that the squad depth will be a bit better if they adapt.

:(

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

i don't rate Lukaku at all!

yeah, he must be totaly crap..only 25 goals in 54 matches, with 17.. with top Belgian club in their own league + Europa matches...

maybe there is many more better 17 years old guys than him ..

sorry for sarcasm :D

yeah and 8 games for senior national team with 2 goals already...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

@TonyBarretTimes
Tony Barrett

Starting to look like LFC could be about to step up interest in Suarez.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

yes with plenty other teams..just like Lukaku, i say it´s good we are linked to them but we have to produce something to make them choose us ahead of clubs that give them CL - EL football..

Suarez would be great,as he can als play wide in 4-3-3.. left or right i think..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Ben Smith from The Times and Rory Smith from The Telegraph have also stated that we're in for Suarez, around £15m-£18m region. Both reliable with the stories usually so likely to be true.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I don't think he's all that to be honest, could be proven wrong though.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Our 1st half was pretty good....
Torres looks like an improved player...

I like the fact that we are trying to pass a lot more...
things can only look better.

Skrtel yet again liable for the goal....we should have
Agger and Soto at the back as first choice till Carra is back.

Johnson did ok.....I can see why Dalglish is keeping him there
with his pace...

When we went 2:1 down I could not believe it.....I thought
we would lose....but credit to the lads...

I was a little surprised Babel was not in the game...was he on
the bench ?

Good to know about Suarez.....he is a good striker...and I think
his all action style will suit the EPL.....he is young and
is a good goalscorer...

If we sign 2-3 players to pep up the squad...we could be in
for a good second half of the season...
would love to see Dalglish carry on if that is the case...
who would not want him to win us a trophy...it would be magic.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

whats this im hearing about getting warnock in on loan????be absolutely fuming if it were true considering the hammers just got wayne bridge on loan.warnock is a scouse konchesky, nothing more nothing less.add to the fact hes been absolutely gash this season.villa fans hate him!

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

About Lukaku, it would be rather unfair to see someone who is only 17 years old as an has been (or never will be).

And while i think this klashmann guy is a big wind-up merchant (rarely argumenting and most of the time provoking) i have to admit that i also wondered if Lukaku isn't overhyped. It is almost impossible to be as good as everybody says he will be...It could be a case of premature physical development wich makes him that good. If you look ath his body, that is not the body of a 17 year old player.
He's really good, but most of the time he's excelling in an extremely weak competition. Look at Jovanovic: he was one of the 5 best players in the Jupiler League...
On the other hand: Lukaku has been good in Europe too and was outstanding against Russia...
Time will tell i guess.

About Jovanovic: yesterday there was a long interview on Belgian television with Jova. He was adamant that he will stay at Liverpool and fight for his place.

Did Jovanovic got enough playing time to prove himself? And when he played was he that catastrophic to be always on the bench or in the stands? I have the same feeling with Poulsen. I'm not sure he has had enough playing time to integrate himself and being usefull for the team.

That's why i understand Dalglish when he says that players like Poulsen will get playing time.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

but Jovanovic also proved he can be good player in world cup for Serbia.. and in Champions league with Liege..i bet after he transferst to Trabzonspor and if he will be used as CF in 442, he will be much better player..

From what I read last night, it's a done deal really. Kinda disappointing, he's nothing special really. Solid enough but doesn't offer anything extra to the position.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

@ Gerd,

I prefer Maxi for the position instead of Bundi. He looks smarter on the ball and has a better pass, he seems to click with Torres aswell. Bundi on the otherhand seems more like Babel, good speed and strength but not much else.

Konchesky and Poulson are also scapegoats from Roy's era, however Konchesky has shown he is nothing more then a workman LB. Poulson....well he just seems too slow for the league.

As for Warnock, could be a decent loan. He has something to prove (that he is good enough) and has had a few good seasons. Can't play Johnson there for the rest of the season.

There was an interesting sublink in one of the Tomkins articles; next season the Financial Fair Play rules kick in. However signings from this season ( jan transfer window) won't be taken into account, so there is a balance that the club could, maybe should, go out and spend a lot of money on signings now and pay extra because of it, as in the summer it will have a negative influence.

gets on my tits that.why cant we just recall insua instead????then we'll have aurelio and insua.that should do till end of season.apparently carra had a word in his ear to come back?'kinell carra...........

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I read that you can't recall loans that are to a different league/country, so probably why Insua hasn't came back.

Carragher needs to keep his mouth shut really. It was Carragher and Gerrard who convinced Purslow that Hodgson was the right man for us.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Reports saying we've now put in an official bid for Suarez.

A very good player, and a good statement for FSG to make as their first big signing if it comes off.

Yep - would be a really good move for all involved imo. Suarez has some real talent and can fill a position you don't really have - a second striker that can work with Torres. Ngog is alright, but a bit too similar to Nando. Might also allow Stevie back to the midfield where he belongs.

Wonder how much it'll cost.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

£15m to £18m is the rumoured amount, not bad considering it was £30m+ last summer.

read somewhere that hagi didnt want any loan players in his team and will cancel insua's loan.or was i just hoping....anyways spot on bout carra and gerrard..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I saw that about Hagi too but I think that was for in the summer when loans have finished.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Ngog couldn't trap cement. His touch is terrible. Insua can stay where he is. He can't defend. He gets nutmegged every game he plays :)

There is some right crap at the club now and it needs getting shot of... sharpish!

I thought Ngog played well lately in the games he played, much improved touch really.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Yep, Ngog has a good touch, good strength and a decent shot. Can be a good player given time and already has a good scoring record for us.

You have got to be kidding me! In the games I've watched he hasn't but I obviously ain't watching them week in week out so I'll take your word for it.
