Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Yes, if he doesn't perform a miracle then we'll forget all of the leagues and cups he won previously as a player and manager. He will definitely lose King status and we'll forget all about him being one of the most important people in the clubs history.

I'm going to bed and I'll be cursing our manager for not turning the club around in the 3 training sessions he's had and the four days he's been at the club. Disgraceful behaviour.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

true, that is for all who wanted Roy out !

edit: Im not concerned about the past, we have nothing to be ashamed as best team in English history about the past certainly not... but about present times i am concerned..

Kenny managed Liverpool before and he will always stay the king, even if we are relegated or in 50 years or 100 if the world won´t end in 2012...but sometimes i think it will ...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

he told you he sometimes thinks that you are such young age not to know about Kenny Dalglish and what he mean to Liverpool FC..

Your knowledge of football is not that great if you dont know it..and im shure even Arsenal fans know who he is...

I know who is Adams, Parlour.. O'Leary for example..

im 24..

whether he thinks it or not it is still a critisism/insult. it is like me saying i sometimes think your a retard. Nice thing to say to you? i bet it is not. And yes i vaguely known Kenny. i did not all of a sudden hear his name first time in my life last week but i dont dwell in the past mate.

People know i don't dwell in the past as if you read my past posts about wenger you will know why. Maybe you, dags and others do, but i dont. That is why i question this "King kenny" statement as if Kenny has already achieved great things with liverpool when he has not even been in charge for a week!

So far lost two games. Keep it up and i wonder if you will still have that avatar on your profile if he proves to be worse or as bad as Hodgson.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Kenny won more as manager and player in the English premier league or FOOTBALL than any other player and manager.. tell me if i´m wrong...

I'll let a certain other Scottish manager tell you you're wrong instead...(overall of course, Kenny won more as a player)

Anyway, if Hodgson had the team playing like that, with the same selection (Johnson at left back?) and got the same result, you'd be calling for his head. Yet apparently this is all still Hodgsons fault and there are a million positives to take from tonight's performance. Erm?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

why? i like him as well but tell me why you think so..

I was partly joking about Holloway to be honest. Just ignore my sarcasm fail.:))

But I do think he should be given a chance at a bigger team sooner or later. He's performed a miracle at Blackpool with less money that a Man City player earns in a month, and he always sets out to play attacking football. A breath of fresh air in the Premier League, and a man that players always want to give 100% for.

key word, past glories mate. so long as kenny won stuff 20+ years ago, he wont get the same criticism as hodgson.

Lets wait and see at the end of the season. imo i think the pool fans will still worship Kenny if pool finish the season badly

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

jonney, if Liam Brady, Adams, Bergkamp, Henry or any other past glory should be manager Arsenal fans would also be delighted. On top of that Dalglish did prove something as a manager albeit a long time ago (i already pointed out that IMO that could turn out to be a problem, Dalglish as a second Keegan with Newcastle in the season they got relegated).

To Liverpool fans two things:

1 Blackpool are a very good team.
2 Somebody's saying that Dalglish wants to play a passing game with players who can't pass. Isn't that a tactical error? I hope he can get some players with passing ablity and that he can continue trying to play good football. But as long as he hasn't those players, that is a tactical error.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

We shouldn't be forced to play hoofball because Hodgson has trained the players into that tactic for the last six months. How else are they going to get used to passing again if it's not encouraged during training and matches.

We were happy to see Dalglish back because he'd unite the fans and get us playing the kind of football we expect to see at Liverpool.

yea i would be a bit delighted to have one of those as managers but i would certainly not call them the massiah/savior for arsenal.

if Morinho was to be our manager i would rate him higher as he has proven himself "recently".

For kenny its been 20+ years and my point is very similar to yours highlighted.

we should wait and see if he is as good as he was 20+ years ago.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

The last time Blackpool did the double over us we won the league for the first time in 24 years...

:JAY:

I know Ferguson mate but i thought about in England.. but to be fair, Kenny won also a lot with Celtic ;)

on the second part, give him a break, he is working and training with the team week + there is new coach with him.. i think we will improve..

Who said we think Kenny is Messiah or saviour...the name KING is becouse a song FIELDS OF ANFIELD ROAD, "...where once we watch the King Kenny play, and could he play..." so since then he is known to supporters as King, it has nothing to do witho us being naive that we win Premier League now... not all Liverpool supporters are blinded by YNWA stuff... not now at least...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I just think the whole situation is worse personally, I think the team will continue to struggle, Dalglish will be supported no matter what while the new owners will get more worried as you move closer to relegation. Hodgson has more modern day experience than Dalglish who in his last job in the league dismantled a very good Newcastle side.

Hodgson has more modern day experience..? i dont think so... just becouse he achieved things with Fulham..

New owners are the ones that apointed Kenny first of all...that means they are trusting him...

Yes Kenny will be supported no matter what, after all he took the team as caretaker untill next season... It is possible we will strugle but also possible we will win some matches and not get relegated...

Before he dismantled a very good Newcastle side he won premier league title with Blackburn Rovers.

He's no different to what he was 20 years ago! He's the same person with same philosophies. Hopefully he will get the team passing properly but def need new players for that as some ain't fit to wear the shirt.

He did shit at Newcastle. So what? He's a Liverpool man and will do all he can with what he's got at the moment. He'll put his ideas across but then it's up to the players who cross the line.

Anyway, way to much focus is put on managers at they end of the day. Get over the line, pull your socks up, work hard and most of all, KEEP THE FUCKING BALL!!! Simple game made difficult by clueless morons.

Need a bit of tinkering from sideline now and then but it's down to players at end of day.

No player should need motivating to play for a professional club. It's the managers fault if somebody has a bad game? Give over! Some players need to take a look at themselves and pull their fingers out of their over pampered asses!!

Well that experience did'nt do us any good..
Hodgson has won nothing since 2001...
during when his jobs included UAE, Viking, Finland, Fulham, Liverpool.....
a lot of mediocrity and some overachievement with Fulham.
He is good for mid-table clubs where expectation is low ...

I don't think Dalglish is a messiah...
he will bring more positivity and unite the fans....
and will desperately want to succeed...given his history..
at least we are playing better, but it will take some time
to get it right....we have a lot of players just not having
some basic confidence in passing or controlling the ball...
hopefully with the new coach that will improve...

I did agree with klashman that we need changes in the playing
staff as well....that will happen only this summer...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Fucking hell this thread's amazing

Kenny's had one proper match and about 3 training sessions and already the Mancs are in here gloating about how shit he is.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

It's ridiculous. United fans taking piss out of Kenny in loads of different places I go to read things. Complete numpties. Whatever happens the guy is a footballing legend. I say legend with it actually meaning something.
These Manc fans seem to forget Fergie struggled at United to start with. 2 games FFS.
Some people don't half talk some shit!!

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Regarding Dalglish talking about confidence...
if I remember correctly Rafa also talked about the same thing
last season that the players lack confidence...

I think the unique situation with our club is the pressure
that comes with playing for LFC....

Imagine after 2008-09, when we came so close to winning the Title
and were widely acclaimed to be one of the best teams in Europe...
why there was such a slump in 2009-10....
Of course the well documented sale of Alonso and injuries, but
the increased pressure and the buying of average players did not
help.

I think the players are in this vicious cycle of needing a win
to restore confidence....and somehow they get it....and the next
match the pressure is to keep winning..and if they lose...they go
back to square 1......we have seen cycles of bad runs before the
away win at Bolton....and then before the away defeat to Stoke...

For other mid-table teams the pressure is not too high
because no one expects them to be in the top 4...

but for Liverpool...the expectation is high...albeit a bit dampened
this year....and Hodgson did nothing to improve things...
But Dalglish faces a huge task of motivating these players and
setting them free from the shackles of pressure and lack of confidence.

If we avoid relegation this year
(5 pts off the bottom and have lost 10 out of 21..so take nothing
for granted)
then maybe finally the pressure will disappear...and expectations
will be lowered once and for all...then all the overpaid overhyped
players can leave and be replaced by young hungry players with skill
and the determination to win...(look at Blackpool)
We need a big overhaul.....and Hodgson was not the man to be in
charge of that....Dalglish/Clarke will do that better...
I can't honestly see a manager coming from outside the UK to do that.

With 3 games in a week....I can't see us beating Everton...
we will be knackered by half-time....

There is something wrong with a few United fans on this forum. Some of them think i have "an irrational hate towards United". It would be pretty stupid to hate a football club, you might aswell hate a lamp post.or a kitchen sink.
What i do not like at all is the way some United fans behave on the verge of arrogance. I really don't understand some fans, they are gloating in euphory because they support the most succesfull club of the two last decades. I don't understand that. Do they really think that they have any merits in this success? They haven't.

Dalglish is the best Brittish player ever (and now that we have sorted out that Northern Ireland really is a part of Great Brittain, that includes George Best).

If Cantona (the best player who ever played in Brittish football) would succede Ferguson, i think most United fans would be over the moon, although (unlike Dalgish) Cantona has proved nothing as a coach...

Give Dalglish time (more time than Hodgson, i'm still convinced that Hodgson never got a fair chance) and lets see what becomes of Liverpool. IMO this team needs to get rid of quite a few players (and i'm not talking about the usual suspects like Poulsen or Konchesky) and needs to buy better ones, but i'm fairly confident that next season Liverpool will be in the top six. That is as good as they were two years ago, because Man City and Spurs have joined the top 4.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Well who'd have thought, a United fan thinking that they had the better player. Shocking.

;)

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

It's got fuck all to do with loyalty and club rivalry, Daglish was a fantastic player, one of the very best I've seen in the flesh, but to call him better than Besty is Insane, and if this was in any other football thread other than a Liverpool one you'd be laughed off the page.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Best was fantastic for a couple of seasons, like all players with unfullfilled potential he has become a legend, i.e. he was made better than he actually was. Those couple of seasons he was perhaps the best Brittish player, but he threw it all away...in my eyes Best is not even the best Brittish United player of all times...i'm hesitating there between Charlton and Giggsand Scholes could also be considered.

Of course being a United fan makes you biased. But maybe you will see reason if you compare Best with those United giants, how much silverware they all won for example...

Or maybe compare him with other players from the same period: Beckenbauer, Cruijff, Muller, Pele

Dalglish was far less spectacular than Best, but Higuita was also a spectacular GK, you will agree with me that he was far from the best keeper.

Best was undeniable the most talented Brittish player ever...in Belgian we had a cyclist like him: Frank Vandenbroucke. He was the best cyclist in the world for 2 seasons afterwards he was free falling like Best (drugs in his case). Problem with both of them is that they never fullfilled their potential.

But of course maybe you actually got arguments when you say Best is the best ever. What you have said until now is not very convincing.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Going back to the Blackpool game....
I thought Poulsen did well...some good passing in the 1st half...
Meireles was disappointing..
Kelly was good...
Kuyt was ok in the 1st half, and crap in the 2nd...
