Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

But then there's very little chance of Rafa coming back anyway. Apparantly Sevilla are a probable destination for him?

I don't believe Rafa is going to Sevilla, he's a top class coach surely he won't manage mid level team. Don't know why but there's a slight chance in backing to Anfield.

EDIT: Seriously, I've posted believing this was the Inter thread. No problem, the topic in discuss is pretty much the same.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

@ Jumbo,

Nah, contract has been ended. And it would be highly unusual for someone to be fired but have to sign another "contract" that says that if they hire him again he would have to pay it back. Also I'm not sure if it's possible, disregarding legal aspects, that a manager can be under contract at two clubs at the same time. After all it would be an agreement that would legally connect him to Liverpool FC whilst he would also be legally connected to Inter as manager.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

The squad went to Alder Hey, also read that Torres gave his World Cup final shirt to a terminally ill kid as well :) Always nice to see footballers visit childrens hospitals, especially at Christmas time.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Have a merry Christmas Liverpool fans, i'm enjoying this thread... i hope Liverpool can do a couple of good transfers in the next transfer window.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Sergio Aguero is in Liverpool visiting Maxi, let's hope he might stop by Anfield and sign a contract with us too

Yeah I agree. They get a lot of shit (some justified) for how much they get paid and how they conduct themselves but stuff like this usually goes unnoticed and some footballers/clubs really do a lot of charity work and the like.

Our lot have been in hospital this week visiting kids but one picture came out with Hargreaves on and some people assumed the players were visiting him!

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Game is off again! FFS, was looking forward to it today, laze around, watch a movie, eat some chocolate and watch the match...

Oh and merry xmas everyone! :D

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

AFC Liverpool play better football than Liverpool under Roy Hodgson. This season is fucking embarassing and a disgrace.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

I'm just glad they managed to rest for 3 weeks, otherwise it could have been even more embarrasing.

Tactically outthought by Mick McCarthy...

Clueless, so after a few decent performances and the team starting to get a feel for the system and their positions what do you do? Well obviously you move players about, Meireles on the RW making him pointless and also nullifying Johnson, Gerrard as CM doing f@#k all as he can't get forward enough to make the play but also hasn't got the mentality to balance play out when Lucas moves forward and while we are messing our midfield why not put Kuyt on the left to form the most workmanlike leftside of a team...ever!

The fact he doesn't have the balls to tell Gerrard where to play and would rather unbalance the whole team says enough about his big team manager credentials.

PS

Was getting annoyed with all the postponements, wished Liverpool would have been snowed in now...till juli!

bensmith_times Ben Smith
Last time #lfc had less points at turn of the year was in 1953-54 ... the season they were relegated

Just in case people think Liverpool fans might be overreacting a little bit and good old Roy will come good...

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

I'm wondering at what point it will be acceptable to want the manager out.

Exactly. I get the feeling we could be relegated and it'd still be wrong to want Roy out and he'd be completely blameless.

Under Benitez we lost 9 home games in 6 league seasons. And only one defeat was to a side that finished beneath us.

Under Rafa, in 6 seasons, we lost to the following teams at home in the league.

Birmingham (in 2004, 0-1, Darren sicknote Anderton with the winner)
Manchester United.
Arsenal.
Chelsea.
Aston Villa.

That's it. Noone else turned over the fat Spanish waiter at home.

Today, we lost to Wolves.

Liverpool have lost 8 matches after 18 matchrounds for the first time since 1964/1965.

Roy is continuing to reach new milestones here, but the wrong milestones.

Nah, that was just for Rafa. Rafa could've shot all your firstborns and he'd still be worshipped.

It seems it's quite acceptable to want Roy out. RAWK has been at it since the start of the season.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Another way of looking at it. We're 3 points away from the relegation zone, 5 points off being BOTTOM of the league.

At this point in the season, it can't be clearer to see that Roy is not taking this team forwards in any shape or form.

1 - Liverpool have only scored one goal in the final 15 minutes of PL matches this season, fewer than any other team. Sleepy

33 - Pepe Reina had 14 touches of the ball more than Fernando Torres (19) in the first half v Wolves. Lacklustre. #Liverpool

3 - Liverpool's total of just three shots on target is their lowest of any PL home game this season. Tame.

8 - Of the 40 instances of teams losing 8 of their 1st 18 games in previous PL seasons, only 7 of them finished in the top 10. Gloom. #LFC

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Hi guys.
I'm a (young) LFC supporter and this is the first time when I post in this thread.
I know this might sound stupid, but I think sometimes Torres can't play football. There's obviously something wrong with him. And I'm not saying this because he doesn't score anymore, but there are moments in play where he makes the worst decisions possible. He wasn't like this in the past. What the hell, 90% of his first touches are wrong, an important amount of his passes are way off, he dives. I mean he's the most important striker in the squad, he should be an example for the others. It's like he doesn't want to be implied in the game. Okay, he scored a brace with Chelsea at Anfield. Not enough. He was injured a significant part of the season. Might be an excuse.
Also, I observed an interesting phenomenon: when Gerrard plays, the team it's like an upside down piramid, with him being at the top(so at the bottom) of it. When he's injured or doesn't play, everyone puts more effort into the game.(theory in progress...)
That's how I see things at the moment.
Oh, I don't even know what kind of head trauma made me write these lines.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Sylvain Marveaux in the directors box tonight and set to sign for Liverpool. Anyone know much about him?

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Torres can just f*** off! Captain of my fantasy team and he performs like that.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Now Roy's turned from blaming Rafa, then the players to blaming the fans.

Surely the last straw?

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Welcome Ezosk,

Tbh the problem with Torres is he is hardly getting any service and is making poor decisions because a; he knows he HAS to try something otherwise it will be another 10min before he gets the ball again and b; I think he is being trained and tactically instructed far less then with Rafa who would go over every detail with him about the defenders and goalies.
He should only play in the final 3rd of the pitch, but when it's mostly 7 against 1 it's pointless.

And the Gerrard issue is nothing new, and I think most of us agree with you. The problem atm, imo, is that Hodgson just doesn't have the balls to force the big players to play how he wants them. Instead he totally unbalances the team just because Gerrard prefers to play there. There is a reason why Gerrard was used sparingly in CM by Benitez and every England manager, and why he has had his best season more advanced and free to do damage.

Glad to see even the media now turning on Hodgson, 365 have now stated he needs to go. Finally.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Googled Marveaux; Rennes RW. Rumoured that Utd and Chelseas were after him last season, dubbed the new Malouda. 23 y.o.

Me and Abou got accused of WUMing for saying that. Most Liverpool fan's think Captain Fantastic™ is a brilliant central midfielder.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

I've always said he doesn't have the tactical insight, or composure to be a CM. He's still a good CM, just not good enough compared to what he can do elsewhere.

Tbh I was hoping, with Aquilani, that you would have a CM of Masch, Gerrard and Aqui as the more advanced role leaving Gerrard to have his runs forward and be more of a link between DM and AM. It was looking like it could work towards the end of last season. But you would need a different playing style and the likes of Masch to be able to keep the defence covered on his own.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Hodgson press conference has been cancelled.

Wonder why? Could be to keep him from saying anything else that would dig him an even bigger hole, or...
