Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just shows how little you know about football then.

Maxi is an intelligent player who moves the ball well and gets into good positions.

If you think he hasn't been playing well recently well. If you also knew a little bit about football then you would also have known when he signed he never was or is an out and out winger.

More of an inside midfielder off either flank.

There's no pleasing some of the boo boys. No doubt one of the school get it into the box ASAP and pace and power over brain and skill.

He , Lucas and Meireles make a fluid midfield moving off each other and using their footballing brain.

well done, you completely and unbelievably missed the point

He was joking about the fact that Hodgson and Maxi can't speak to each other because they don't speak each other's language. Yet you managed to turn that into a big criticism of Maxi's ability. :FAIL:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Purslow handed Hodgson a list of players he wished to see depart Anfield after his appointment last summer. On the list were Ryan Babel, Maxi Rodriguez, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, David Ngog and Lucas.

This is proof that Purslow was meddling around with a lot of stuff
as Rafa claimed earlier, and surely resulted in Rafa's departure
from the club.

Although Purslow did a great job in getting rid of Hicks/Gillett too
I think he should have just focused on the business aspects of the
club....and not got too involved with the footballing staff.

Kudos to Roy for not becoming the yes man that many people have
accused him of being....and he did give a chance to the likes
of Soto, Lucas and Maxi...and even Babel now..

Can see why we got Comolli now....NESV want someone with a football
background to help direct the footballing strategy.
Of course only a manager who can work with such a Director
will work at Liverpool....whoever we get next will have to work with
this setup...

My comment was a lighthearted gesture towards the comical conversation, or lack of, that would have taken place between the manager and Maxi.

Roy has stated many things through the press and media since his apointment and I was merely poiting out another comment that I found amusing.

It has nothing to do with what you consider to be my lack of intelligence about football. How you can judge me on that from my post is stunning observation on your part.

I never once mentioned anything about how Maxi was playing or Roy was managing, I just found his statement about not being able to speak to each other an irrelavant thing for Roy to bring up. But that's just Roy I guess. He talks very openly in the media and often spouts nonsense. I actually like his honesty but he can come across quite foolish sometimes because of it.

I'm far from a 'boo boy'

But make of it what you will, which you have, and I will continue to enjoy the steady progress Roy is making.

Well I apologize. ;) But from what you wrote it seemed a criticism without the ability to detect any sardonic reference to RH.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Where did this myth come from that Houllier left Liverpool with a great squad which was much better than the one Benitez left? In 2005 everyone (including pundits and journalists) were saying how shit the squad was because Houllier bought loads of shite, now because they all hate Benitez so much they've decided to rewrite history.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Individual's are useless if they can't play as a team though.

I'm not saying that's the case here, but comparing 2 teams like that is pretty useless. The press etc have been going with it because Rafa won the CL with Houllier's team but when he'd built his own side, on paper much better, he couldn't come anywhere near.

I don't think that's it though, i think it's largely because the pundits who say it have a personal problem with Benitez.

Everyone can see the squad Rafa left was better than the squad Houllier left.

As Ian St. John said last week, it's a testament to the quality of Rafael Benitez that he managed to win anything with the players Houllier left behind.

Re: Liverpool Thread

And then managed nothing once he built his own side :))

well except our best ever Premier League season, and another Champions League final. The shit happening off the pitch thanks to the owners is completely ignored in all of this because it's far easier to just blame Benitez.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yet again, another typical Roy away performance there. Awful tactics, poor use of subs, lack of instructions being given when needed, just completely clueless and inept.

How are we supposed to even get into Europe when we can't win an away game? His record was shocking with Fulham, and it's not changing with Liverpool. No future with Roy, whatsoever.

One win in nine in the Premier League away from home this season. Six defeats and just six goals.

Liverpool lose their 6th of nine #epl away matches this season, their most-ever defeats at this stage of a PL season and most in 48 years.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It really is unbelievable. We may as well be Fulham; sitting pretty midtable, solid at home, but atrocious away.

Woy's away record really needs to be addressed. Recent home wins don't disguise the fact that his tactics are pretty terrible and will only hurt us in the long run (unless they let us play every game at home).

Re: Liverpool Thread

fucking embarrassing.

he's not good enough, the players were shit but when he needed to fix things he just sat there like a cunt feeling sorry for himself.

when we needed creativity and a bit of impact, Joe Cole sat on the fucking bench, he brought Jovanovic on for 5 minutes. He only makes subs early if there's an injury, otherwise it's 80+ minutes before he bothers. I've really lost all faith in us getting anywhere this season, it's a fucking shambles, it really is.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Sunday league is a compliment, Skrtel looked like he wasn't even a professional footballer far too many times.

Just read that Roy's won ONE in his last 27 away games. One. And this is the man who's going to be with us for years and be a great manager for us?

John W. Henry spoke about wanting to bring trophies to Anfield, that's never going to happen under Roy.

Totally unacceptable for a self-called contender.

As far things are going on isn't impossible to imagine Rafa being sacked by Moratti and then sign you with you. Of course I'm joking. :P

Re: Liverpool Thread

BBC: That was my next question, the away form. It's a bit of a worry. I think, obviously, it's not all down to you. 2 wins in 18 away from home in the Premier League.

RH: Yes, I mean, for a team that wants to be in the top half of the table it's not good enough.

Re: Liverpool Thread

1st half we looked good in midfield...
Surprised why we did not start with Babel....
I thought Torres was just not up for it...looked sloppy at times...
Kuyt was alert for the goal, but he really should not be playing ...
Johnson should start on the right wing and give him the freedom
to play attack...put Kelly on the right back.

Hodgson was disappointing in his substitutions....forced to do one..
and then went really late.....he seems to be the sort of manager
who will wait and wait hoping for things to get better....not the type
who will make a quick change and push the team forward....

Disappointing....can't really see us finishin in the top 4....and
getting into Europa will be tough too....unless we sign 2-3 players
in january who are good quality...

Hodgson is a decent manager, but he is not the man to take us forward.
I don't want to see him sacked ....but I can't see us losing like this.
If we are going to replace him...let it be with a top class manager...
no more compromises.
