Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Ola Toivonen (spelling?) at PSV is rumoured to be our next target. He's been left out of their next game squad with "flu" apparantly ...

Re: Liverpool Thread

He's not that good, but he seems to be at the right place at the right time a lot so that's how he mostly scores I think. Probably OK as a backup player if you can get him cheap.

Re: Liverpool Thread

He's not a play-maker. Don't know if he can be called a replacement for Alonso or Aquilani who are both not only different from each other but very different from Meireles as well. Don't really see the comparison other than all playing as central midfielders.

The latter two like to get the ball distribute the ball all over the pitch and can be called play-makers and have outstanding vision and passing abilities. Raul Meireles does some of that but that's not really his main quality. He brings a lot of other things to the table though. And Lots of Energy as well! Good player overall. One I definitely rate. But not for his vision/passing particularly though it's decent enough.

I didn't mean he's the same type of player, i meant that the hole in the midfield has now been filled. Since Alonso left we've had no forward thinking central midfielder, Aquilani did it in about half a dozen games but not enough. Meireles is a battler but can also look forward and is a good passer of the ball, that's what we've missed.

Lucas is consistent and committed and when he does things right he does them very well, but he doesn't get forward enough, the other day when it was Lucas and Poulsen in the middle we had no creativity or forward play from the midfield, at least Meireles will look to play it forward and will look for the killer pass.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I know what the guy is trying to say about Gerrard, but imo that's the wrong use of the word trequartista! Why has it suddenly become a common term within English football language!?

Good signing by the way, but I can't help but think your offense is still a little light in terms of depth.

Think if we sign a striker (which we will), we'll be sorted.

The defense is still my biggest worry. Left back and Carragher.

But Meireles is not a playmaker, he wasnt the playmaker of Porto, Lucho was before he went to Marsella, and I think that last season Belluschi took his role. As PLF said he has nothing to do with Xabi Alonso, a totally different player. He is very good though, but to say that he can he play in the same role that Xabi did, is a mistake.

I never said he'd play the same role ffs, i said that since Alonso has gone there's been no forward thinking player in the midfield, now Meireles can do that. Why has every player got to have a label such as 'playmaker', 'trequartista' etc.? why can't they just be a fucking player?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Oh look, another Barca player talking about a Liverpool player! How surprising!

Cunt.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Wonder who the striker we're going to sign.....is it C.Cole ?
Not sure if he's the answer....but with our 4-5-1.....it will have to
be someone who will be happy on the bench and play mainly in the
Europa League and Carling Cup.

So I can't see us getting any high profile strikers....

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think Llorente would want more the odd game so I doubt it, Carlton Cole could happen but West Ham are quite light upfront so I doubt they'd be willing to let him go without someone coming in.

Regarding Torres, I think his mind was made up during the summer that he wanted out and go to Chelsea (according to Villa) but with Rafa gone and Hogson coming in he probably thought he'd give it another season, if you dont get into the top four he'll be off I reckon.

YES, that is why he wear Liverpool scarf on bigest moment of his life..that is how he said he want to join chelsea..

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just because he wanted to go to Chelsea that doesn't mean he doesn't feel strongly for Liverpool. And maybe nobody in the crowd had a Chelsea scarf to give him?! :D Villa had nothing to gain by saying that, he's gone to Barca not Chelsea!

And if Torres never had any intention of leaving then I guess he must be really pissed off at Villa for saying that when it's not true?

Re: Liverpool Thread

I wouldn't rule it out Matherto, he won't play for Real Madrid but Barcelona isn't out the question.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah I wouldn't rule out Barca.

Torres would NEVER play for Real Madrid. And yes, playing for no club including Liverpool who he very much loves, still can not compare to playing for Atletico where he will be back one day I'm sure and maybe sooner than some think....

But I could see him playing for Barcelona. Don't think he'd be at all against it.

Once they have them its Basically a case of the "Catalonia national team" being loaned out to Spain for there international fixtures. Valdez, Puyol, Pique, Xaxi, Iniesta, Busquets, Fabregas, Pedro, Villa, Torres...fuck me now that's not a bad team.

Villa and Torres aren't Catalan tho.

mate he did not have to wear this scarf on the photos that will stay with him in his photo album forever...he did wear two scarfs...liverpool one after the match celebrations and official first photos with world cup and then Atletico, when presenting the trophy in Madrid streats, for me that is clear sign this are the clubs he likes as person..personaly i dont fear that torres will move to other english club in near time..and i think after he finish his 6 years it is two things for him, either new contract with us or return to Atletico.. But yes, in football life it is possible he move to different club..only i doubt he would move to other english club or other spain club than atletico...

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm just saying, why would Villa make that up? It had no benefit to him.

dont know mate, but if Torres go, well be that...we won CL final without him and we will win it again, with or without him in future ;) just dont know how long we will wait :P
