Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

All we need now is a decent right winger to roast their suspect LB ;-p

Re: Liverpool Thread

I don't feel bitter towards Barcelona - they've just acted in their own interests to get the best deal possible.

Mascherano and the people agreeing the terms at our end are the villans.

Masch's insistence on leaving forced our hand. That's when, with our finances considered, our hopes of a proper fee were lost.

If Fab acted like Masch, then it would have happened to us aswell. Barcelona rely on the player rebelling in order to get a reduced price. Luckily for us at the moment, Fab isn't resorting to this.

It's pointless having a player that doesn't want to play for you. The player knows if he acts this way, then the team he is with will want to get rid of him.

But resorting to this basically ruins all relations with the club and the supporters they leave behind.

Masch is to blame imo. Barcelona also, because I would have guessed Barca would have told him the only way he would move now, is to act in the way he did. But as you say Barcelona did what they could to get a reduced price.

But it's like if your bird has an affair with another guy, you want to beat the shit out of the other guy. But it is your bird that has betrayed you and done the naughty. (not that I am condoning beating up your unfaithful lady :)) )

Re: Liverpool Thread

Masch was happy to sign a new contract in March wasn't he? Wasn't his wife unhappy then?

Edit: 25th March

"Liverpool know I want to stay. I don't think it will be difficult to arrive at a deal and we will see what happens in the next few weeks."

"I have never said I was not happy at Liverpool," he added. "That was the press. I am happy here and the only way I can show that is with my performances on the pitch.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Then say that? I'd rather he came out with that, and I'd accept that as a valid reason. But saying his wife has never settled here and he wants to leave because of her is nonsense.

He wanted to leave last summer as well apparantly, and only stayed on the promise that we'd sell him this summer.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well then, Steaua, Napoli and Utrecht. Could be been worse tbh and Liverpool shouldn't be worried about any of those teams.

Aquilani: "England has been a very beautiful experience, but I am here to stay."

Great analogy !

I was thinking of using house buying but yours was superior in so many ways.

Barcelona and their players have been acting like cunts all summer long though, the way they courted Fabregas was fucking wrong, then we had Villa running his mouth saying Torres should leave for Chelsea, then all the shit over Mascherano.

I get what you're saying and of course Mascherano himself is mostly to blame, but what if the lad shagging your bird knew she was with you and was a mate? That makes it worse imo, Barcelona have always had a good relationship with us and their fans love Liverpool. It's shit the way they've suddenly decided to start bullying other teams.

If you have seen my posts in the Arsenal thread and Barcelona thread, you can see how much I think of Barcelona this summer. I think they have lost some credibility with their players speaking out all of the time and the way they have gone about things.

But the player should give a shit about how he leaves the club, especially if he has been treated well by the club and the fans.

If Arsenal refuse to let fab go next season (which I don't think will happen) then I can see him playing a bit more in the realms of what masch did.

At the end of the day though players careers are relatively short and they aren't going to pussy foot around and waste a year of their career just to not piss off people. So I understand in some respects for the player, but then they shouldn't sign such big contracts?

It's all so complicated and fucked up. The player basically has all of the power. He can sign a 6 year deal on lots of money but then a year later sulk and get sold. The only thing the contract does for the clubs is make sure they don't go for absolute peanuts if the player goes in contract.

What Barca have done is shit, but as lots of people pointed out to me when the Fab stuff was happening (and I was going mental) it's life and they are not the only team to do it.

We were lucky with the connection Fab had with us.

At the end of the day most players dream about playing for Barca, even those at Liverpool which is also a huge club. Especially with the fortunes of Barca compared to Liverpool in recent years and also the weather :PP

Barcelona know this and use it every time.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just hope that we can sign some new players with the money
we get from Masch.....

The sad thing is that there is just not enough time till 8/31...

leaving Hodgson in limbo...

we need a
- left back
- defensive mid
- 2 wingers
- 1 striker
- 1 right back

New owners will be the solution.....can't see us buying many players
in the current situation....

Hodgson will have to be at his best in man-motivation and management
to drive Liverpool forward.....good thing is that he has done it before
at Fulham....and probably why he was chosen.

Still there is always hope.....
this is Liverpool Football Club.....I am sure we will recover.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Ben Smith from The Times reckons Defour, Inler and Parker are under consideration as a replacement.

Re: Liverpool Thread

So what's the point in Poulsen? I thought he was bought because we expected Masch to leave?

If people thought last seasons squad was poor they better not look at this seasons one!

That is what I thought initially, when we signed Poulsen.

But Hodgson in an interview said that Poulsen was not Masch's potential
replacement....
Looks like he was Aquilani's replacement.... which I don't understand
since Poulsen is not a very attacking midfielder is he ?

DagsJT...
If we get Defour or Inler, I think it will be nice...
they should be cheaper...

I am getting worried now.....
why does these transfers happen at the last minute....giving
the manager no time to find a replacement....as Hodgson does
not want to panic buy....but what choice is he given....
I wish we had sold Mascherano and Aquilani earlier...

Re: Liverpool Thread

I've not seen Defour or Inler play in real life, but I know Defour from Football Manager  I know Inler's name but not got a clue about him at all.

From what FreMM says, Defour is a no-go and deal done with United, so is Inler any good?

I have seen Inler play for Switzerland in 2 matches...in the 1:1 friendly draw with Italy...he scored a good long ranger...
and against Spain in the World Cup..he was good.

I think he plays in the Serie A for Udinese...one of their good players... can't be any worse than Lucas :-) Gökhan Inler - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:080603_inler01.jpg" class="image"><img alt="080603 inler01.jpg" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/51/080603_inler01.jpg/200px-080603_inler01.jpg"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/5/51/080603_inler01.jpg/200px-080603_inler01.jpg

He plays for Udinese in Serie A. And yes he is good.

Lucas will be a great player in 5 years if he moves somewhere else.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Roy's got good management experience, he's knowledgable. But does he REALLY think Konchesky is a Liverpool player? Really?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Since Roy has worked with him, I guess he will be ok.
I remember he scored against us in 06 FA cup final with a fluke cross-shot

We can't keep playing Agger at LB....and Aurelio is very injury prone...

Rumor is that Lucas wants to leave.........

Till we get new owners.....I think we will have to settle for 2nd choice
players......
which is why we got Cole in the first place...
Konchesky, Poulsen, are similar kind of players,...not great...but will
do a job...

Re: Liverpool Thread

News here saying you are close to get Raúl Meireles for 13 M€, reports he's travelling to England right now. Nice move so far, you get a good player for a very reasonable price.
