Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

i am taking my son to his first game on thursday at anfield. I have not been since the traditional KOP

where is the best place to park? really don't have a clue where the best place to head for is

cheers

Re: Liverpool Thread

I park in one of the side roads by the Asda on Breck Road. Saves messing around trying to get into a spot, and then queuing to get out. A 20 min walk or so to the ground but I'd rather that than queue for hours.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'd second Dags on that - it took me 90 minutes to get out of the L4 area when I parked right by the ground (thinking I was a smart arse).

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeh i'd park up by Breck Road, because Oakfield Road/Walton Breck Road and Robson Street are pretty much closed for a while after the match so a 5-10 minute walk to your car would be better than an hour waiting in it.

Luckily for me i live about 500 yards from the ground so it's a short walk down for me, although i will be heading up to the Grove pub for a few pints before the match so that adds about 1000 yards to my journey

Re: Liverpool Thread

Wow, that came out of nowhere! He was clearly off anyway after we signed Brad Jones.

Re: Liverpool Thread

cheers lads

what time is it best to get to the ground? about 7, with the kick of being 7:45?

is it an easy straight walk from this breck road

It's an easy walk from Breck Road, have a look on Google Maps if you're not sure, but it should be difficult to get lost tbh

Seeing as you're not sure about the area i'd say get there about 7ish yeh, it'll give you time to get your bearings.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Aquilani has ANOTHER stomach bug. "Sickest" person ever, if he is actually sick? If he's not, he's become a joke and a waste of money and wages.

Even if he IS sick, he's still becoming a joke. £20m on a player who just can't/won't play.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Peter Kenyon, ex-Chelsea CEO, hired by Huang's QSL to negotiate #LFC buy, Bloomberg's @tariqpanja is reporting.

Fucking hell, might as well have had Fergie doing the negotiating! A Chelsea fan as our chairman, and an ex Manc/Chelsea employee trying to help a bid to buy our club?!

The reason he didnt play Arsenal was because he had a stomach bug, now you are saying that he has another one or you are talking about against Arsenal ? Because in the pictures of the last trainings he was there.
Anyway, someone at RAWK said that he had a hereditary problem.

I just saw Paul_Tomkins twitter and he said that he had a stomach bug in Oct 09, Nov 09,Feb 10, Mar 10 and the most recently (and the reason because he didnt play against Arsenal) in Aug 10. I guess he didnt play today just because Roy was resting him, with Gerrard, Mascherano (with a knock) and Johnson for the importante match that is on Monday against City and not today.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Aquilani won't play against City either, he's off on loan to Italy because he's not fit enough and not ready to play every week at our level yet, which is what loads of people have been saying.

Fucking pathetic. After recovering off his ankle problem I remember he started at leaste 6 matches in a row with Benitez as and Advanced Playmaker and he changed completely the way we played. He also had silly stats like 6 assists in 8 or 9 starts (I dont remember correctly) and even though he played so little he was the player with more assists in the Premier League in the year 2010.
It was really stupid to guarantee Joe Cole a central role, you would think a player has to gain his spot. I dont know which is more more stupid if send on loan a player for which we paid 20 m E or to bring a mediocre player like Poulsen to replace him.
We are going to enter this season just like we enter last season. Our only playmaker is Joe Cole (although he hasnt played in that position sicne West Ham so really I dont know) and his history with injuries isnt very good neither. Without any cover for Torres and with three defensive midfielders. Then you got Jovanovic insted of Riera.
I just checked in RAWK and the official forum, and it doesnt seem that Roy is going to get acceptance for this move. All the opposite.

first of all Poulsen was bought to replace or give competition to Mascherano not Aquilani..Poulsen is DM. Neither i think he is medicore..afterall he is in Denmark national team for some reason i guess...

Joe Cole is not our only playmaker...in his position we can play Pacheco, Gerrard, even Maxi or Lucas if we need..and without this position in lineup..we dont need to have true AM anyway.

Jovanovic is CF, Kuyt is CF, Babel is CF, Ngog is CF...that makes it 4 CF to cover Torres if needed..

Jovanovic did not came instead of Riera..wich you could see tonight...he was a CF with Babel on Riera place...

i think we should buy just Left back, top left back...and who knows what Roy is going to do in next weeks.. we will see..

Im talking about playmakers. Gerrard, Pacheco, Maxi and Lucas are not playmakers.
And Jovanovic against Arsenal clearly played in the left wing. Kuyt had played for past years as a right wing and Babel and Ngog arent the cover you would expecto for a player as injury-prone as Fernando.
About Poulsen, the fact that we are going to have 3 defensive midfielders this season and just one playmaker, shows the kind of football Roy wants to play.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Was actually wondering last night, seeing Aqui sat on the bench where he would fit in this season. I was expecting him to rotate with both Gerrard and Cole with fitness and injuries combining to give them all enough games. Cole isn't going to last a whole season, he was already looking tired after 30min. last night. Gerrard you don't know, but you would expect him to get a few injuries. Hope he stays really.

Funny how you call Torres injury prone but don't accept that Aquilani is even more injury prone. Biased much?

It's simple really, obviously the medical team don't think he's up to playing a full season at our level yet, and sitting on the bench is doing him no good, so they'll send him out on a season-long loan to see if he can actually manage to play a full season, if he can't then he'll be out on his arse because there's no point keeping a player who is gonna be a part timer. The difference between Aquilani and Torres is that there's nobody who can replace Torres at the minute, whereas Gerrard and Cole are both as good as Aquilani in his position.

Heard a rumour they were after him but nothing other than a mild rumour. Good source?
