It's simple really, obviously the medical team don't think he's up to playing a full season at our level yet, and sitting on the bench is doing him no good, so they'll send him out on a season-long loan to see if he can actually manage to play a full season, if he can't then he'll be out on his arse because there's no point keeping a player who is gonna be a part timer. I never said that Aquilani wasnt injury prone. But, you should know that it is a totally different case that Torres. Torres has had injuries of all kinds, while the only problem with Aquilani in his career has been his ankle. Which I remember Dr Brukner saying that was 100 %, so I dont know in which are you basing to say that the doctor assured Hodgson that he is not going to be fit. Plus, wasnt Brukner one of the best doctors in the world ? So let me get it straight, Hodgson wants to offload an injury prone player, for which we pay 20, and risk him to be treated by shit doctors (like we were told that were Roma's doctors).

Anyway, interesting that Luigi Delneri is after him. He was the manager who took Sampdoria to the Champions League playing attractive football and he can recognize a bargain when he sees it. He has been trying to take Aquilani to Juventus since the beginning of the market. When Rafa was here he first offerer 10m (rejected) and then a swap with Felipe Melo (again rejected). At least with Rafa we knew that he had a future here, but now Delnieri offer again a swap with Felipe Melo ..Im really worry because we have a manager that actually rates a mediocre player like Poulsen higher than Aquilani.That cant be good.
Gerrard and Aquilani are totally diferent players. They both play in the hole, but Gerrard is not a playmaker, he is no where Aquilani 's level in terms as creativity, vision or pass, but he has a better shot and in general, is a better player because he is more complete than Aquilani, and that 's way he should play as CM.

I like Aquilani, but yeah shipping him off would be a good
thing. Would love us to sign Van der Vaart or Defour.

Hopefully Hodgson can sign 2/3
players before the window closes.

Brukner said Aquilani's ankle was 100%, but the ankle is not the problem. The general consensus among people in the know is that his mindset is wrong and he's constantly looking for excuses (stomach bugs, ankle pain when scans showed nothing etc. etc.) It seems like he wants to be wrapped in cotton wool.

I don't know and neither do you, it's all speculation. But you base everything on the fact that you think he's a great player, you know nothing of what he's like in training etc. For all we know he could be sitting on his arse in training and that's why he's being shipped out.

He needs to prove he can stay fit, the only way he can do that without endangering our results is to go somewhere else for a while.

As for the Kuyt transfer, it's not a done deal - they're in early talks about a deal but nothing concrete, Inter haven't even decided on a proper bid yet and it may be cash + player, i just hope it's not Muntari ffs, would happily take Eto'o off their hands tbh (i'm not gonna go over the top and say SNEIJDER!!!!!!!!! like some will)

You should know that the general consensus is that you are going to feel pain when coming back from an injury like he had. It ´s something normal and I remember Benitez saying that in April I think it was. About the stomach bug, is a heredetary problem and it ´s not that recurrent to make you feel that you have to offload a player with his quality. I mean, after all he only lost two matches because of that, because in the other ones he wasnt recover from his ankle yet.
A friend of mine (also a red fan) had the same problem that Aquilani ten months ago. We are both football fanatics so whenever we can, we play and he tells me that he still feels pain when he is playing.

Of course you'll feel pain for a while, but not after the top experts in the world of sport have confirmed that the problem has gone completely, at that point it's time to consider if there's really a problem or if he's just paranoid. I understand you wish to jump to his defence but at the end of the day neither of us know what's really happened other than what's reported, it's just that you seem to side with Aquilani against everyone else who has said he has problems.

But Aquilani said the it still hurt his ankle when he was playing in April. Peter Brukner said that he has was 100 % in July. Did Alberto called you and say that he ´s still in pain ? Because he hasnt said anything to the press, the only one who spoke was his agent saying that he has fully recovered from his ankle.
The only problem Ive read he had, was a rumour un RAWK that he (and Lucas) are a bit lazy in trainings, which wouldnt surprise me as almost every talented player is a bit lazy in trainings. If he respond in the pitch (which he does) it´s not a problem. Cant wait for the next match at Anfield and what the fans would do. In RAWK, everyone is furious with Roy.

RAWK is a pathetic website, they don't represent proper Liverpool fans, they're all internet-only fans.

I'm not arsed about his ankle, i just find it hilarious that the same people who lambasted Rafa for not playing him are now having a go at Roy for the same thing and not considering for one second that if two separate managers aren't willing to risk playing him then there clearly must be something wrong with the player.

It's a simple case that the lad isn't mentally strong enough and no manager will want to player someone who isn't willing to give 100% while there are other players who will. Right now it's clear to me that there's a problem with Aquilani, Hodgson and the medical team don't trust him to be ready to play a decent run of games for Liverpool, the only answer is to send him on loan for a while to let him get a load of games and get his confidence and fitness back before bringing him back here to play at his full level.

He's only played a handful of games for Liverpool anyway and while he did show some good signs and did some quality things, he also gave the ball away a lot and dodged a lot of tackles, he's not perfect and has a long way to go yet before any fans start protesting because of him.

The fact is the worst thing that could have happened for Aquilani was us signing Joe Cole, he's gonna play in the same position and both the manager and the fans would prefer Cole in the team now.

I was wrong when I lambasted Rafa for not playing Aquilani. After all, the season was so over that he didnt want to risk the card he had for season 10/11. It ´s just that he was so good, even though he played with pain, that I wanted to see him play.
Plus, Benitez ended giving Aquilani his opportunity and he took it. No doubt that he was going to be a regular this season.
I agree that RAWK is a shit forum, but it does show what people think and it is not the only Liverpool forum where the fans are pissed off with our manager.

Poulsen hasn't been brought in to replace Aquilani ffs, they're totally different players. Poulsen has been brought in for the Mascherano/Lucas role for when we play with 2 holding midfielders.

Joe Cole doesn't want to play on the wing, he signed for Liverpool because we're going to play him in his proper position - behind the striker.

If there were no problems with Aquilani then he'd be playing, it's as simple as that. Both Rafa and Roy don't trust him to play to his level and it's as simple as that.

I remember Roy saying in the World Cup that he was a big fan of Poulsen, not for his defensive duties but for his contribution to the attack, his vision and passing (for me this is all bullshit, I ve never seen anything of that when he played in Sevilla or Juventus). Hodgson must feel that with Joe Cole and Gerrard the ACM spot is covered and he is financing his buy of Poulsen buy loaning Aquilani.

You would think that a player has to gain his spot in the team. I will now use the same argument you used with Aquilani. If Joe Cole proper ´s position is central, why he didnt play there in Chelsea ? And it wasnt something of only one manager. Mourinho, Grant, Scolari, Hiddink, Ancelotti.

You don't see that that's an entirely different argument? See, the reason Cole was played on the left at Chelsea was because he can play there, with Lampard, Ballack, Essien etc. all in the middle they had to find a space for Cole and left wing was where he was played. It's as simple as that.

My argument was that there must be something wrong with Aquilani if two different managers didn't play him, your argument is that becuase several managers have played Cole on the left then we should do the same. That's not the same argument.

No, that´s not my argument. My argument is how can you say that his proper position is ACM when five different manager didnt used him there ? He can not be compared with Aquilani in terms of creativity, passing, vision, football inteligense and for me, that are the main aspects of a playmaker.

the main aspect of a footballer is that he is up to the task and can play every week, Aquilani doesn't seem to fit that bill.

Cole will offer us more goals, based on the players histories Aquilani doesn't offer many goals.

Well, based on last season Aquilani made 6 assists in 9 starts and had the best assistance ratio of Europe. One assist per 125 minutos is fine by me.

if 12 appearances is fine by you then you should watch more football. His ratio looks better than most simply because he only played a handful of games. You really should try to be a bit less biased.

Are you gonna read what I write or you feel free to interpret what you want ?. You just said that Cole could offer more goals than Aquilani in the hole and I said that Aquilani offered us 6 assists in 9 starts which is fine by me, did I say that Im happy with him having 9 games (not 12) ?

actually he's made 18 appearances in the league, 28 overall. But only actually had a real impact on about 3 or 4 games.

well for me mate Gerrard is best at playmaker position..even if he is complete player..

Pacheco is nothing else than Plamaker or Second striker

Lucas in his Gremio days was AM..

Maxi playes on wing but can play deeper.. i think he did it some time in atletico..

I was talking about starts, because I think that is unfair to judge a player when he makes a cameo of 10 minutos (like Aquilani did in almost every game he entered in the second half). He had 9 starts and, if I remember correctly according to the fans votes in LFC, he was MOTM in 5 matches.

What is playmaker position ? You should know that he was never a playmaker for us, Xabi was.I think you confuse being an attacking midfielder with being a playmaker.
Pacheco is not a playmkaer, he is a second striker or left wing (this is how he plays with Spain I think).
About Lucas, it 's interesting how a lot of reds think that Lucas was an attacking midfielder and Benitez transformed him in a destroyer. This is total bullshit, he didnt even play once as an attacking midfielder when he was in Gremio. He was a box to box, type of player.
Maxi is a right wing, he has never played in the hole.

As far as i remember it was 3 times. Burnley, Portsmouth and Atletico Madrid.
