Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

In other news - Fiorentina have confirmed the Insua transfer is now dead and there's speculation that we've made an offer for Flamini.

Insua as back up is fine but even the way he played on Sunday shows he shouldn't be near first choice at the moment.

Flamini had a good (last) season in the Prem before his move so if he plays like that then that's a good move.

Eitherway, nothing should defer us from rejoicing Nando's commitment.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Flamini won't move, I'm 100% certain. About Insua - I reckon he's got a dodgy agent who wants the most money possible from either Liverpool or Fiorentina..

“Last night I had dinner with the director of sport at Liverpool until 2am,” Corvino told Sky Sport Italia.

“The player will remain in England. He is owed money by the club and he asked for wages we cannot possibly provide.

“Therefore we’re giving up on Insua, he will not be coming to Fiorentina. Because of this, the squad at Sinisa Mihajlovic’s disposal will remain what it is now, unless there is a shock bargain available.”

Re: Liverpool Thread

Insua will have to prove now he is the first choice..

i never heard of Flamini rumours..more about Poulsen from Juve..

Re: Liverpool Thread

Broughton has now approached the Premier League to notify them of a possible change of ownership, looks like Huang is getting the bid then.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Buenas a todos. Para todos los que me preguntan sobre mi futuro, les cuento que me quedo en Liverpool. Gracias a la Fiorentina por su interes y a los mensajes recibidos!

Hi everyone. For all those who ask me about my future, I tell them I'm staying at Liverpool. Thanks to Fiorentina for your interest and received messages!

Insua just wrote that in his official facebook. Very good news then.

Re: Liverpool Thread

i'm glad Insua's staying. There's nothing to suggest he wanted to leave in the first place, Fiorentina came in for him and we allowed him to speak to them, he didn't go courting a move.

The lad's got bags of potential and this season i think he'll take more of a back-seat role, hopefully Brukner can keep Aurelio fit.

Yes, I agree. I hope he renews his contract. Otherwise he is going to leave in a free transfer next season.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Whoops, good point - as in bad.

just like Masch he'll be walking a tightrope every match on whether he'll be sent off or not.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Dan Brennan said to me on Twitter on 21st July "I'll eat my vuvuzela if it doesn't happen".

He also confirmed my impressions of him that he's dirty but is more able to contribute to the attack than Masch (his Denmark position is different to his more disciplined role at club level).

So maybe I'm over-reacting but a quick youtube search would suggest not.

Check out YouTube - Christian Poulsen the rugby player! as an example. The middle one is him stamping on Jenas' head!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Moving on - how good were the youngsters/reserves last night?

Some real quality there.

Sousa stood out but there were others too.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Suso? Hearing loads of good things about him and the fact that he's been with the 1st team in Germany shows how highly he's rated.

Didn't get to see the reserves tho, I suppose they were on LFC TV? I've only got Freeview and Sky Sports really.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah, that's him - I was testing your spelling ;-p

His first touch is immense and his passing is superb. He set up the second goal with a brilliant 40 yard pass to allow Ince clear on the left, who then slid it to Amoo for number two.

He was way above the level yesterday (on LFCTV yep) - he's the most complete player I've seen at this age - just don't know what his physical side is like.

With him, Pacheco continuing to develop, Amoo, Shelvey, Wilson and Ngoo (who looked something in between Crouch and Drogba last night) to name just a handful things are looking good for the future.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Poulsen was fantastic with Sevilla. He was arguably their most important player when they played their best football. He was also outstanding when he was at Schalke 04.
Juventus bought him, but he never really had a decent chance.
IMO he's much better than Mascherano. Would be a splendid buy for Liverpool.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Do you not think concerns on his discipline are applicable then Gerd?

Don't forget Tony Silva, that lad looks like he's gonna be star already.

Re: Liverpool Thread

yeah good point - bad decision making let him down last night though, I felt.

Re: Liverpool Thread

No, i don't think so. But time will tell.
What i do know is that he's the type of player most coaches dream of having in their team.

I agree, hopefuly you are right..

He is good and experienced midfielder, would be only good to have him in the team.. + he and Agger are danish..so he wont have problem to fit in quick..

Re: Liverpool Thread

He's not actually that old! he just turned 30 this year I think. He's been pretty good for Juve, but last season the whole team was awful, and he doesn't start that many games.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I wouldn't let his disciplinary record bother you too much. Two of the best centre midfielders of the Premiership era, Roy Keane and Patrick Vieria were as dirty as they come and had nearly 20 red cards between them.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Gerd is right. Poulsen is an amazing player. Though, actually perhaps was an amazing player is putting it better, tho he's still good.

Tho Mila is right too, a couple not great seasons with Juve can harm a player's reputation but the fact is, he's proven his quality for many years now and in different leagues. Plus everyone at Juve nearly had a bad season. They made some very good players like crap last year.

1st with Schalke where I still think it was his peak and best and even better than Sevilla days.

And yes, he's one dirty cunt! He's like van Bommel in the sense that he's a great player but also a temperamental asshole and just a true douchebag.

I would be concerned with his discipline but no more than Liverpool fans are used to with someone like Mascherano. And he is very professional. He wasn't named 3 years consecutively Danish player of the year (iirc) for nothing.

Probably the most successful player Denmark has produced over the last decade.

I hate him but yeah he was a great player, one of the best in the world at his role and position and although I don't feel he's the same anymore, he's still very useful.

Re: Liverpool Thread

As for Insua staying and not going to La Viola, I'm happy about that. I think it's best news for all 3 parties, Fiorentina, Liverpool and the player that it didn't happen. Time will tell tho...
