Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Nah, you know what it's like, if a reserve/youth player has a couple of good games he's the next big thing, look at Macheda for example.

Nemeth could be a good player, i've heard he's lazy though.
Ahh right. To be fair to Macheda looks a class above when he plays for the reserves and he's got 3 goals for the first team in just a handful of appearances so maybe that was a bad example but i know exactly what you mean.

It could be that Nemeth is just a late bloomer. There's an expectation now that every player should be brilliant at 18 and they all get hyped before anyone's really seen them. Then when the player is inevitably not quite as good as everyone was told they were, people say he's crap and will never make it! As much as i love it i think Football Manager is partly to blame.

How old is Nemeth, 19 or something? Still plenty of time to improve. Maybe he'll never make it at a top club (if he's naturally lazy and doesn't have that drive it'll be hard to change him) but by the time he's 25 he might have settled as a decent striker in one of the better leagues, who knows?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Partly agree, however top class players are 1st team players at the age of 18,19. Owen, Rooney, Gerrard, Ronaldo, Messi, Aguaro, (fat)Ronaldo, Fabregas, Anelka, etc etc. And the top clubs have no time for a player to develope into a decent player after 6 years by the time they are 25.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Rumour has it there was a long meeting this afternoon, Hodgson has accepted the Liverpool job.

Re: Liverpool Thread

A very balanced outlook on Rafa's 6 yrs at Anfield..

http://www.zonalmarking.net/2010/05/21/rafael-benitez-liverpool-legacy/

I hope our next manager will bring back good attacking football
with more creative players played in a system that is balanced
yet has enough attacking flair...
We need 2 strikers up front,
2 genuine wingers ..not strikers placed on the wing,
1 good attacking midfielder, and one defensive midfielder to protect
the back-four.

Hodgson would be good....but I prefer Martin O'Neill.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Artist impression of the unofficial Liverpool protest shirt that's going to be produced. Should be available very soon for £15-£20 hopefully.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Manuel Pellegrini is looking for a job...

but we have idiotic board..i bet Hogson will be our next manager..

Pellegrini would be amazing, i would take Dalglish over Hogson if not..

just gets worse and worse.. :(

Dalglish has been out of sync for a very long time now. Hodgson is the best choice under current circumstances imo.

Not sure how much Manuel Pellegrini costs though... Doubt you can afford him.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hodgson will be seen as the ideal candidate to steady the ship, the club is in fucking dire straits at the minute and rather than bringing a big ego in who will stand up to the board, they'll be looking to bring in someone who will behave.

I can't believe the amount of people who want Kenny back as manager, yes it'd be a morale boost and it might sway players like Gerrard to stay, but in the long run it's likely that it'd end in tears with Kenny damaging his reputation and i'd imagine it'd be hard for him to work as manager with those two clowns running the place.

Re: Liverpool Thread

You would rather have Dalglish than Hodgson? You, Sir, are an idiot.

fucku.gif
I said my own opinion.. you dont have to agree..

honestly like i read, nobody would EVER mention Hodgson to replace Rafa, since the rumours of him ending LFC job appeard first...everybody is overjoyed with Hodgson as new manager after he made Fulham look top club in UEFA cup..but as i writen above, i honestly dont think he has the ability to prove himself for us, not to take us higher or overcome Rafas success...

Dalglish might be away from the center stage, but he has always been close to the club, players, board and fans..

i doubt he dont have the ability to get us out of the mess..especialy to manage our current players and young players...

There isn't a single person on the planet who is "overjoyed" that Roy Hodgson is likely to be the new manager, well maybe Hodgson himself but no Liverpool fans are overjoyed at all.

Right now it doesn't matter who the manager is, we're fucked. The new manager won't be given enough money to improve the squad enough, Rafa wasn't backed enough so who is to say Hodgson or anyone else will be. I'd be willing to bet whoever takes over will be here for 2 years maximum, unless they pull off a miracle like Rafa did in 2005 by winning something with a poor side.

It's not down to the manager to get us out of this mess, it's down to two greedy bastards.

Re: Liverpool Thread

yes but that is exactly the thing, we all know the new manager will be either great one who is crazy to sing for us, or a short term solution untill we find new owner..if..

but it all depends how the situation with owner will chainge..

if they realy want to sell for that much, i doubt they sell soon..and if they dont, we wont find a great manager to come to this mess..but i doubt Hodgson will repeat what Rafa did his first season for us..

in fact i realy fear for our future..

with Kenny we could have at least a good figure in this bad times on our side.. remember he knows how it is to manage LFC. and maybe big players would want to stay..

Re: Liverpool Thread

Looking at the situation Hodgson is the best candidate. He knows the league, the players and got further in the Europaleague then Rafa :P

He is probably cheap, will steady the ship and should be good enough to get the squad near the CL spots the coming season. Not sure if he can get 4th but it's more likely then having a big name foreigner coming over who will need time to get used to the league, you could argue Rafa never did.

And when in the future a decent buyer comes around they will know they can easily bring in their own manager.

Guess all we can hope for is a season of hanging on the the coattails of 4th place and maybe a good cup run/win to keep the club going till next summer.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yep, very nice gesture. He has always ben great to the supporters.

It's pretty horrifying to think of who we have running the club, they actually pay him to leave whilst the european champions had him as their first choice.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Great great thing to do, Rafa is a giant of a man.

He's always had the club and its fans in his heart, you could always tell how much it meant to him to be Liverpool's manager. He stood up to the yanks and always fought the good fight but inevitably he paid the price and a section of fans turned on him, a section of fans who should be ashamed of themselves now imo.

Apparently Rafa wasn't good enough for Liverpool, but he just walked into the job at Inter Milan, who are the current European champions and have just won the treble plus he will have money to spend. Really puts it into perspective doesn't it?

This club is a fucking shambles right now.

Re: Liverpool Thread

And if he goes there, and turns the team they have into a worse one having spent shitloads and doesn't win the league, then the perspective shifts again doesn't it?

The gesture to the HJC is genuinely decent though, he might be a bit mental but he is a decent bloke.

Re: Liverpool Thread

he hasn't turned our team into a worse one so i don't see why he would at Inter. Yes we had a twat of a season, but the team/squad is much better than the one he inherited.

Under Houllier the likes of Biscan, Traore, Le Tallec, Diao, Diouf etc. etc. were the norm, they didn't look out of place, under Rafa players like N'Gog, Insua and Lucas got slagged off because they're not world class.

Re: Liverpool Thread

In all fairness he did sign Voronin though.
:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

one of best Bundesliga strikers, then shit with us, then again one of best Bundesliga strikers..

Torres, Reina, Skrtel, Benayoun, Mascherano, Agger, Maxi, Aurelio, Alonso... were all bought by Rafa for a bargain.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Did we actually earn money on the Pornstar? He was signed for free but can't remember if he left or got sold....

Re: Liverpool Thread

Torres and Masch were not bargains.

I think you made about £3m on Voronin, looked like a confidence thing with him tbh or something specific to the club or England in general as he was good when he went back to Germany in between. Strange.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think Hodgson has been a great manager for Fulham.
If i remember well he also used to work for Inter, that wasn't exactly the biggest success, but he has the advantage that he has experience with big clubs.

If all i read about the Liverpool owners, is true, then the club must consider itself with a manager like Hodgson.

And the donation of Benitez is class...
