Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well if Raffa leaves, i'm afraid players like Torres and Masscherano and maybe even Reina will leave the club...
Spurs did Liverpool a big favour yesterday...

Re: Liverpool Thread

There you go again Dags. Was just about to say the same thing.

I can also add that Pepe has spoken in the last week about IF Rafa isn't there next season. He's the first player to talk like that and he certainly wasn't making any threats.

I think this whole idea that all our best players will leave if Rafa goes is just a nonsense.

This is manager who Torres, SG and JC have all said isn't exactly your best pal so there'd be no emotional pull in the way there was at Chelsea when Jose left..... (EDIT - and Terry, Fat Frank and Drogba are still there btw!)

I do believe that if we got someone in who didn't make a good impression early on, I'd imagine SG might be looking for one last chance to win something elsewhere but whoever it is IF RB goes, he'd be given the chance to do well.

Having said all of that though, I think of all those listed, Masch is the most probable to leave based on his non-committal stance over the last few weeks, compared to Pepe for example.....

Re: Liverpool Thread

But if the mananger that signed you leaves, plus you dont have CL football next season, I'm sure that adds up to a good excuse for leaving.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Sometimes CL football and your friend being around isn't everything (as Reina has already said). How many managers leave and players follow of their own accord? Not often.

Reina signed his contract a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty much certain then that we wouldn't get CL football, and the Rafa rumours have been around for months now. If Reina was concerned about CL/Rafa, he wouldn't have signed the contract a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Reina is definitely staying.

But then Pepe is quite special. Not everyone is like him...

Re: Liverpool Thread

I agree with you but not everyone thinks that way. Most people want to play at the top level (CL) and for a player like say Torres, there are gonna be times during next season where he'll definately ask himself "what is a player of my quality doing in a competition like this? what am I even doing at this club?".
Players like Reina and Gerrard stay because they think it's the right thing to do and they it out of respect for the club. Players who moan that we arent doing enough or arent bringing in more players are the kind of players who get frustrated and move on.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Torres was captain of his home-town/boyhood club.

He knows what it takes and how it feels.

He'll stay.

He gave Athletico a good few years to get in the CL; I'm sure he'll do the same with Liverpool.

Re: Liverpool Thread

The only thing that could make Torres leave is concern for his general well-being - seems to believe he'd get beaten up a bit less in other leagues.

I hope he stays, great asset to the prem league. And hearing Reina's words is a reminder that not all footballers are terrible people.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Shocking read if true. Although the whole atmosphere at the club does suggest there something seriously wrong since the summer. What a mess!

And you already know that the @rseholes will always benefit from this, No matter what happens they will make a tidy sum and leave the club worse off.

Re: Liverpool Thread

What would you guys do with Torres offer ? I guess that 77m € is a lot of money for a player that is injured more than half of the season. With that money you could buy 2 or 3 world class players, like Higuain, Mexes and Jovetic. But, with these owners, probably Rafa would only get like 10m € of the 77m €.

Or enough to buy a few Lucas Leiva's :P

I've read an article about Soccer Billionaires (Soccer club owners) who made billions in profit while their clubs are soaked in debt.

Imo, most of them are cheap bastards. All they care about is piling money.

Yes, our owners are two fucking bastards. Got the link of the article ? It sounds like a very interesting read.

dont worry about that, Reina will definetly dont go..i even see him as next captain..he just signed 6 years long term contract..

Rafa will not go, not for next season i doubt that..

Torres will stay another season definetly, he has his contract and LFC wont sell the best player..Torres is now more than a player.. it is our last hope actually..to score some goals..

the only thing above this that should worry us is get this out of our club asap..

Re: Liverpool Thread

I never liked Gerrard. I hope Liverpool let him go, but keep Raffa.
If Raffa leaves the i'm afraid Liverpool will drop out of the top four for a long time...
Man City, Spurs, Villa and Everton may well surpass you (and now that i mention Everton: Moyes may be a perfect manager for Liverpool, he did a fantastic job with Everton).

why? i mean you dont have to like him personaly or so..but that dont matter on field..

on field did we have better player this decade????

my answer is no.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Contracts don't mean shit. Often players sign them to ensure the club gets the best value out of a potential transfer. A guy with 1 year left will cost a lot less than a guy with 5 years left.

Ronaldo signed a 5 year deal at United in April 2007 and then left, I'm not saying Reina will do the same as they're clearly different characters but you can't take a new contract as a sure sign of someone staying, that's all.

Quoted in agreement, what we have to remember here is not all players are as linked to our clubs as we would like to believe.Put yourself in their shoes, most of them maybe homesick,personal/family problems with settling.or it could come down to money/better club. who knows?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Apparently Carragher's coming out of international retirement and will be included in Capello's 30 man provisional squad!

After what's probably been his worst season for years this is quite a shock! I guess Capello wants an experienced head to cover for Ferdinand and Terry and doesn't feel Dawson is quite up to it yet? I'd be really surprised though if Dawson isn't in the 30 man squad after the season he's had. He should be ahead of Upson, Lescott, Shawcross, Cahill etc who are either out of form, injured or too young and none of them have impressed at international level.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well great financial news coming out.........Benitez has actually made profit in two consecutive seasons now out of transfers! And I'm pretty sure they even count the improved contracts as transfers!

So really Liverpool have stood still for two seasons now. No wonder the squad is lacking depth!

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'd much prefer Dawson over Carragher.

:CONFUSE:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Apparently, Wilson deal is almost finish. I guess the next player we are buying is either Verratti, James Rodriguez or Kadlec.
