Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Liverpool also have reserves team ;) and i would not say he is unexperienced..

since 2008 he played 42 matches for Charlton 1st team, scoring 7 goals, he played 24 matches this season ofr Charlton first team at his age..i would tell he has the experience

He does have quite a few games under his belt, but hasn't got experience playing for a Premiership club. I'm not sure if you've seen him play? I go to the Valley as often as a can (provided it doesn't clash with a United game) and my verdict on him is this:

Last season his talent was obvious to see - to be one of the best players in the side at only 17 isn't an easy thing to do. His vision, passing & positioning is frightening at times, and he's not bad from set pieces & dead ball situations. He could probably do with bulking up a little bit, but that'll probably happen in
the next year or so anyway.

The only thing that is a slight concern is his mentality. This season he hasn't shown as much potential. Whether that's because Charlton dropped another division and he doesn't want to be there, or whether it's because bigger clubs were scouting him, I'm not sure. There was an instance away at Leyton Orient this season where the fans didn't think he was pulling his weight and let him know it. Maybe that's a bit harsh on a youngster, but it's part of the game. He didn't respond too well to it and since then hasn't been in the team that much.

Last summer he turned down an offer from Chelsea (the fee was around £3.5m) because he wanted to be playing first team football. He was also hoping West Ham went in for him as that's his preferred destination.

So, to sum up, for £1.7m you've got a bargain for a quality young Englishman. If he can live up to his potential, & Liverpool can develop and improve his game, don't be suprised to see him breaking into the first team.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah and Palletta wasn't tall either. Oh wait.......

My point wasn't that all tall players are good defenders, my point was that there aren't very many successful short defenders, not in the Premier League at least.

Actually, just found out that Ricardo Carvalho is half an inch under 6' so maybe he's the one exception that proves the rule although it is only half an inch.

Re: Liverpool Thread

18 Year Old Promising English player bought ONLY for 1.8 Million? That doesn't match really ...

Re: Liverpool Thread

this will eventualy rise up to 3 milions i think in the time..

he wanted to join us and we also have a buisnis with Charlton for future deals..loaning players etc..

Re: Liverpool Thread

So Liverpool-hater Tim will soon be getting some of our youth and reserve players at his club. I wonder if he'll still hate us when half of Charlton are Liverpool players  ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Don't take this the wrong way but if he didn't move to Chelsea for wanting first team football, then why has he gone to you lot? You've hardly got a great record with young players recently. Hope it works out and it's not another wasted English talent.

I knew what you meant; I was simply reminding us all of the last short Argentinian cb to move to the reds.

I concur with jumbo too; history would suggest he ain't got a chance of breaking thru!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Liverpool have released a statement strenuously denying the rumour that they will take it easy in sunday's game. To prove they are taking it seriously they have named the side to face Chelsea for this weekends Premier League clash:
1 Ken Dodd
2 Cilla Black
3 Bob Carolgees
4 Michael Shields
5 Jimmy Corkhill
6 Derek Hatton
7 Mimi Maguire
8 Holly Johnson
9 Sinbad The Window Cleaner
10 Spit The Dog

And ofcourse.........

11 Lucas

:D

Just been watching the CL semi, reminded me why I hated Chelsea so much. Really wouldn't want Mourinho managing Liverpool. The teams systematically cheat and indimitate the ref at every oppertunity.....and they play crap football most of the time aswell. Horrible.

Atleast Manu play decent football under Fergie......

Re: Liverpool Thread

Inter cheat?! Ok fair call, but what about Barca? Busquets is a whore.

Yeah I know. Just because of the fact that nobody is allowed to even breath on a Barca player makes me want Inter to win.

But atleast there is a modicum of footballing ambition in Barca. Inter don't even want to play, which is fine as Liverpool do that aswell, and is a skill. Horrible for a neutral but still worthy of praise that they can make Barca look dire.

But the diving, and posturing, and whinging, and whining,......it's too much. So much so that even the commentator isn't even trying to be neutral. The first moment Inter started their hounding of the ref the commentator said; "And here the axis of evil starts". I'm not even editing...that's precisely what he said. And before the game kicked off; "Well Inter will have to play this game with only 11 men as Mourinho's Portugese mate isn't refereeing this match". :D

just becouse the cam seen that one moment dont make him whore..there was a much biger whore plaing in United between 2003 - 2009...in that matter offcourse.

and there is many more of them in Inter team tonight...

Re: Liverpool Thread

:D yes the money in current football is a big factor that players make fool of theirselfs in front of whole world watching..

Re: Liverpool Thread

Omens. Gotta love 'em :D

In 2001 Liverpool beat a Portuguese team in the UEFA Cup quarter finals Spanish team in the semis then won the final in Germany, Bayern Munich won the Champions League, and there was a general election.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It's everytime Liverpool are close to winning something. Last year they had one aswell, same for the 2007 final and for the 2005 final. I guess everything being equal it should mean Liverpool will win the EL this year.

Re: Liverpool Thread

rumours are that the team is as follows:

Pepe
Masch - JC - Agger - Glen
SG - Lucas
Dirk - Aquaman - Yossi
Babel

Interesting - certainly has a promise of goals in!

Re: Liverpool Thread

We've got to go for it. Aguero and Forlan will score a goal so we need to go out with the aim of getting three.

Can't wait :)

Very promisiing team, cant wait for the match now knowing that Aquilani-Gerrard partnership is likely to play. Anyway, where did you read that that was probably going to be our team ?
