Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm sure that question has been answered already? Let me check...

:)
yeah but that was jannuary. i was curious about the current support on rafa ;)

Just to stop you feeling left out I would say that, in my opinion, a lot of people are very confused about even their own thoughts on this.
i see. so there's not an evident majority of the fans who would like to hold rafa or see him leaving. thanks guys :))

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm expecting Rafa to be at Juventus next season anyway to be honest.

As for majority, it's really hard to gauge. As MJP says, the crowd volume singing Rafa's name is lessening with each game. The awkward thing is that we know Rafa has a lot of really good qualities and if he tidied up his weaker areas, he'd be amazing.

But we're not sure he will actually change his ways at all and that's a worry. It comes down to whether this is a freak season or not. And we wont know if it was if Rafa leaves and doesn't get a chance to fix this mess. But then if he stays and we're in the same position next season, it could really damage the clubs future.

i see. so u guys think this deal might actually go through (i mean rafa's move to juve). thanks for the feedback guys :))

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think we could honestly have a scenario of Rafa going to Juve, Torres leaving due to his "body not coping"/Rafa leaving and he'll go to Milan or somewhere, Mascherano will go to Barcelona and Gerrard to Madrid or wherever.

Next season could be hugely different.

Re: Liverpool Thread

now that would be a drastic change! don't worry about torres leaving for italy anyway. the only club who could afford to buy him is inter, and they certainly don't need any more forwards, as they're already very well covered in that position. :))

Re: Liverpool Thread

If Torres is thinking of leaving, Italy is the only realistic place. He wont play for any other team in Spain than Atletico, English football is too damaging to his body, so really Italy is the only top league left.

If Torres was available, would Inter not sell forwards to accomodate him though?

Re: Liverpool Thread

The WC will inflate his price if he was to leave.I doubt he`ll leave he just wants rafa to stay this damaging body is really daft. It`s a stunt I tell ya...he was beating the like of vidic and fernand w/ ease bullocks!

Hmmm, so that would mean an extra 100mil for the new manager with lets say 100 mil coming from the new owners. You would think Mourinho or VGaal would be able to make a title challenge with that.

In defense you would want a new LB = Lahm?
Midfield = 4 x 25mil midfielders (back-up:Lucas-DM, Aqui-AM, Beni-AM, Babel-LW, Kuyt-RW)
Attack = 100mil for 3 strikers

Could create a more balanced team with less resting on the two now.

@ Beboq,

He does really get the sh!t kicked out of him every game though, added to that the attack pretty much resting on his shoulders playing against 2, 3 defenders on his own is just too much. It can go both ways, either a clear "come and get me" or a "buy some more attackers and keep Rafa". If you read the rest of the article about how Rafa is the perfect manager for him you could see it more as a warning to the owners.

your point about italy being his main option makes perfect sense, but i don't think inter would sell any of their forwards to get torres.
fernando turned into an amazing striker in the last few years, truly one of the best, but pandev, eto'ò and milito can provide inter a versatility, a flexibility torres never could. inter forwards defend as much as they attack... i can't see torres doing that.
plus inter has other priorities to address right now (a deep-lying playmaker, for instance). :))

Would be interesting wouldn't it, with the money generated. Don't think it could create team for the title though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Torres would play for Barca in my opinon. Obviously not Real Madrid, and Sevilla and Valencia arent big enough.

This whole thing about Torres moaning about the physicallity of the refs, well...its a bit dissapointing to hear that from him, he needs to toughen up. Granted he needs more protection, some of the things teams get away with doing to him is ridiculous. Basically, you cant get too tight to Torres and not win the ball or hack him down, otherwise he will turn you, but if you get tight and send him flying, he cant do anything.

I think Rafa will go if we dont win the Europa or if we finish 7th. I expect Gerrard to leave, I'm not sure Torres will, yet. Mascherano, well it depends how much Barcelona offer.

The Kop has spoken

Hope Rafa and co will listen

Re: Liverpool Thread

would be funny if rafa pulled a McCarthy  let spear lead the line get hammer 3-0 then bring in gerrard and co. on the 80th minute.

Re: Liverpool Thread

i thought we were discussing if we wanted to win the chelsea game or not?

If you think RAWK generally supports Rafa, well it does, and RAWK is perhaps the best known Liverpool forum with lots of season ticket holders. Yes, they are Pro-Rafa.

Oh, and until today, I've never heard of the Empire of the Kop either.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Ok here's a hypothetical situation for you.

On Saturday, results go your way and leaves the door for 4th place hanging slightly open.

On Sunday, 89 minutes played and you're drawing with Chelsea. Obviously they're throwing everything forward when on the break Carragher gets sliced down in the area by Terry and the ref gives a penalty.

Gerrard steps up.... if he scores Liverpool will win and cement European football next season, possibly reaching the 4th spot Rafa guaranteed. However, Chelsea will lose and thus leaving the title in United's hands.

Do you want him to score or not? And if he does, how would you celebrate?

Of course I want him to score.

I'm far more concerned about my own club winning than a rival losing. When you're wanting your own team to lose just so it will cost your rivals something, you've become an Evertonian.

If we're being honest #19 has been on it's way for a while, we've all known it's going to come, we'll just have to bide our time and retake the crown in the near future. We had the 70s and 80s, United have had the 90s and 00s.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Is fourth place a good thing for us at the moment though? Will it drive up the value of the club and put off investors? If we finished fourth, and kept the Americans then I'd be absoloutly gutted.

On the other hand, if we can't guarantee CL football to some players next season, they could be off.

Horrible situation and I haven't got a clue what to think really.

Of course that if they tell me that the results are going to go in a way in which with two wins Liverpool is going to play the Champions league next season, I would want to win.
But, as we all know, that aint gonna happen. Unfortunately there is no way we are going to be in the Champions next year, so YES, I prefer loosing against Chelsea insted of handing Manchester the league.

Hope your right uj,if we are not careful City will be the next team to dominate, what with their financial clout, then i hate to think how that would leave our title hopes.tbh i think 4th is now beyond us,only a fool would let us creep back into 4th,and there not all gonna slip up.SO yeaah stop the mancs from taking the 19th!:TTTH: :OOOH:

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think its so important because of the possibility of City getting it, If Spurs get it then it'll be a good fight for 4th next year or you'll be much better and walk it.

If City get it then they'll slam the door shut on Liverpool and Spurs so to speak for a while.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah agree, hope villa get it really.

As for the win/lose question;

Nobody seems to be recognising the fact that it could mean Fergie retiring if manu do win the 19th.
