Re: Liverpool Thread

Decent read about the roadtrip by The Guardian's resident Scouse.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/apr/20/liverpool-atletico-madrid-travel

And also a feed from someone twittering as Lucas on the train. Quite funny, couldnt be the real one could it!?! :D
http://twitter.com/LucasLeiva21

Here are my favourites
Dirks been giving Rafa wine. I can tell when hes drunk because he stares at me disappointingly saying he wishes he'd got a receipt for me.
Few ppl in their pyjamas now. Either NGog has a baseball bat down there or hes one blessed, blessed boy. Jesús Christi its like another arm!
Aquilani and Degen have made a 'den' at the back of the coach out of sleeping bags. Sign on the front of it saying 'No Physios Allowed'

EDIT: Just found another brilliant one!
I'm starting. Rafa let me know by winking at me. Alberto tried to trip me up on the way out. We don't see eye to eye. His eyes do though

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hes truly lost it now. Hes in the toilet frantically cutting his own hair, muttering 'survival of the fittest'. NGog trying to stop him.
10 minutes ago via web Soto is doing his daily sermon. He's telling us that the Volcano was Zeus's vengeance for us allowing the obese to live.
12 minutes ago via web I asked him directly. He was about to tell me who it was before Jamie stepped in & told him not to be a "snitch house grass". I dont get it.
20 minutes ago via web The key to this mystery is Pellegrino. He's nocturnal (on non-match days) so he must've seen it all happen.
22 minutes ago via web Aquilani because Im keeping him out the team, Soto because I 'compromised Olympus', Dirk because I got the seat next to Rafa. Its a mystery.
25 minutes ago via web Cavalieri bought me an inflatable travel pillow yesterday. Was having a great sleep until someone popped it in the night. Got a few suspects
32 minutes ago via web Its so hot because Kyrgiakos has turned the heating up to full. When questioned about it he replies with only : "This is a mans world"
40 minutes ago via web Boiling hot on this train. Nabil n Babel have (typically) taken their tops off to expose their shaven chests. Nabil's nipples are pierced.
42 minutes ago via web Sammy chased after him, this was two hours ago and we still haven't seen either of them since.
44 minutes ago via web Knocked Plessis to the floor and said 'whos the smallest on the train now you prick'. Plessis got up, edged away and said 'still you'.
about 1 hour ago via web We got Sammy Lee and Insua back to back to see who is taller. Insua was, just. Sammy wasnt having it and went for Plessis.
about 1 hour ago via web Stopped off for lunch at a Michelin Star French restaurant. Jamie&Stevie had egg & chips. Agger had to eat standing up, his backs gone again
about 1 hour ago via web Rafa was really hungover. Good job my mum packed the Calprofen, he called me a 'life saver'. I am Weak. At. The. Knees.
about 1 hour ago via web Carra threw his shoe at him & screeched "what fuckin time do you call this you Greek tit" Didnt seem to affect Soto, I think hes in a trance
about 1 hour ago via web He blew it, thrice, and shouted "and so signals the start of a new day", looked to the floor and bowed.
about 1 hour ago via web Sorry guys, had no connection. Few updates, was woken up very early this morning (6am) - by Kyrgiakos blowing his medieval horn.
about 1 hour ago via web Off to try and get some sleep now. Nabil 'n Babel still rapping in Dutch and French together. Kyrgiakos sleeping standing up, fists clenched
about 18 hours ago via web
.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Wow, that's amazing. Keep em coming! Whoever that is they should write for F365 or something.

Only slight is that it's not as odd as the Arshavin website, and that's real!

Re: Liverpool Thread

What do you lads make of the big Gerrard rumour doing the rounds at the minute?
His Wife's supposed to have been getting diddled by a Derby County player, and Stevie Me's been knocking off a young and i mean young 16/17 yr old nurse and got her up the duff.

Re: Liverpool Thread

She's a right slag his missus, the kids aren't his either are they?

I heard the Derby player is Kris Commons.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Also reported in Italian press (Gazzetta, not sure how reliable they are) that Juve have agreed a deal in principle to sign Rafa and have begun work on recruiting his backroom staff, 3 of which are current Liverpool staff.

Re: Liverpool Thread

disgrace, utter SHIT we played tonight... God let this season end

with such performance without a SINGLE shoot on goal (except the one we scored regulery) it is a shame and i truly dont understand how we play in the semifinals of this competition...

we are bad to watch...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Why did we buy Aquilani? No, seriously, why? He never plays and is behind El Zhar(!) in the pecking order.

I only hope he gets a chance in the next leg and Rafa rests Masch to prevent him being suspended.

Although, it'll be back to Lucas and Masch if we made it to the final..

It's amazing how he never plays. I just hope those Juventus rumours are true and Mr Benitez goes as far away as possible and never comes back.
Today was clearly a match in which Aqua could make the difference but no, he decided it was better to put Lucas (another awful match for him, for change) rather than him. Last Monday he decided to put Degen before him and now, even El Zhar gets chosen. Anyway, it all make sense. This is football, so why would you want to have in your team a guy that has passing and creativity ?

Re: Liverpool Thread

tbh Lucas was one of our better players tonight...up there with Yossi and Pepe..

Gerrard was again shadow of his former self...should have started more up front..and Aqua behind... Ngog was waste of space...

Kuyt tried but overall we played shit

even if we made it to the final, the game we play has to be chainged...

dont have other words for that...

Come on. Lucas didnt touch the ball, offensively he doesnt contribute nothing.

Unbelieveable - do you remember Gerrards left footed shot in the first half?

How did he find himself 1 on 1? Lucas's pass.

He was the best outfield player for us tonight.

than i guess you did not follow the same match than me..

sorry but i am surprised that fans have still this "Lucas is shit" attitude..he has been most consistent player for us this season together with Pepe..

What does that suppose to mean ? That after Pepe, he was our best player this season ?

Re: Liverpool Thread

most consistent means he played good for long period of time..offcours he had bad games but he played standard for long..

our best player is Torres and Reina, but Torres this season he was more out than playing..

best player this season was Reina, and Lucas is in top 5 yes..

who would you say?

Re: Liverpool Thread

well take into consideration Pool played 3 days ago  then the loong coach ride you should be tickled for that result. Pool will be more then ready at Anfield

Re: Liverpool Thread

so will be Atletico...

no matter if we win..we were poor whole season... i dont want us win with playing always ugly..

but neither loose with great football... ;)

I think there is no way Lucas was going to be inconsistent taking into account that he played almost every game this season and that he didnt have even one injury.
Anyway, as you can notice in my comments, I dont rate him. I think that he has little influence in our attack and that in defense he makes a lot of stupid fouls. His lack of influence in our team is evident (the fact the he only has 1 assist and 1 goal when he played almost every game this season is a proof of that).

You could say the same about Mascherano though, but like a lot of fickle fans you have an agenda against Lucas. Plus, the amount of games and lack of injuries has absolutely fuck all to do with consistency, Carragher has played 2 games more than Lucas and has been inconsistent all season, he has a few good games then a few shit games. Same goes for Kuyt. So your reasoning is stupid.

He could be man of the match scoring a hattrick but you'd still say he was awful and not worth Aquilani's place.

I agree 100% with Pipa, it's ridiculous how some fans have scapegoats and no matter what happens they get all the criticism.

This game was a poor game by any standards but i'm not too disappointed because as beboq said, the preperations for the game weren't exactly ideal. Away from home, after 24 hours of travelling on coaches and trains, no real time to recover from the West Ham game because the next day they were sat down on the coach/trains for hours. A 1-0 loss isn't the end of the world, yes it would have been nice if Benayoun's goal would have stood (which it clearly should have done, he was well onside) but at the end of the day it's 1-0 at half time, we've got 90 minutes (at least) to turn it round at home.

There is a big difference between him and Masche. Masche is just superb in defense, Lucas is no where near his standards, so if one of our CM has to go to the bench so that we have more creativity in the midfield it is obvious that that man is Lucas.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I thought Lucas played well enough last night, certainly one of our better players. He'll always have his haters though, regardless of what he does.

1-0 isn't too bad a result and we can definately win the tie. But with Aguero back and Atletico only needing one goal, I'm not very optimistic.

Ngog would be a lot better as a poaching player, playing off someone else. He just hasn't got the strength, technique and speed of thought to hold the line on his own and we look completely toothless up front.

Re: Liverpool Thread

We've just been having a discussion in the office about Masch and Lucas:

Masch has his undoubted qualities but they are 99.999% destructive to the opposition, Lucas can tackle (something he's improved a lot this season, even though some refuse to acknowledge because he had some stupid moments last season like away to Wigan, away to Everton in the FA Cup) but he also keeps possesion and makes himself available more than possibly any other player.

Right now, if there was £30m on the table for Masch, I'd take it, safe in the knowledge that Stevie should be playing in the centre anyway, and Lucas and Aquaman can fight it out for the other position and that you can buy another "destroyer" for half that price in Cattermole.

Incidentally, for anyone on Twitter - check out LucasLeiva21 and read from the earliest post onwards - hilarious (fake) account.
