Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

In six days time, you're players will wilt as they pass under the "This is anfield" sign and will be deafened by the sound of the kop (thats if uj kicks em up the arse and gets em singing ) liverpool will do nothing wrong just as they didnt at the da luz,and will soundly thrash you 3-0! NOW hows that for biased! :))

Fixed. :))

Re: Liverpool Thread

Babel was stupid to put his hand onto Luisao's lips, it leaves the ref no choice. Gerrard diving is nothing new, something we're not proud of. Oh and if don't do anything about Carragher defending with studs, he won't last the 2nd leg.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I was at the stadium, re-watched the game on the tv...a few thoughts:

- Stop relating a couple of guys behaviour with every Benfica fan. We were totally against the 2 things that were thrown on the pitch. If you knew portuguese, you'd understand that the whole stadium was chanting 'Palhaços' (clowns) to those who made that. So...if you don't like to people relate whole (amazing) Liverpool fans with the 70 hooligans that can't watch Liverpool matches in europe, please don't do the same!!

Now...about the match:

Benfica was ALWAYS the better team...even before Liverpool scoring. You had a free kick and a Torres miss on the second half.

About the refeering. Terrible...They were just probably the worst referee team I saw on a european match in our stadium.

1. I don't think Babel should have been sent off for that..yellow card would be enough, in my opinion.

2. Liverpool goal is CLEARLY offside. Kuyt is on a offside position and it influences the play, as he was obstructing our goalkeeper view. Anybody who knows the game's laws, knows this. Please take a look at it again.

3. Both penalties for Benfica were right decisions...but, Insua should have received his second yellow card on the first penalty on Aimar.

4. Penalty against Liverpool for foul on Cardozo by Carragher. Clear as water again.

5. I don't think that shot that hit the body of Liverpool player and went to his arm was a penalty..so I accept the decision.

6. If you wanted yellow cards for Luisão or David Luiz, Agger had the exact same behaviour, and was moaning ALL the time. I mean ALL the time. So don't complain about it.

7. About the diving...for christ sake. Just watch how many fouls Torres got from diving on the left side. He just dived...that was Liverpool play for whole second half...trying to get free kicks for Gerrard.
Benfica players dived? As much as yours.

I don't think Benfica has played well..actually I think we had an average game, to be honest. Anyway...I think it will be VERY difficult to get through...the match in Anfield will be very tough and Liverpool is an excelent team, which I respect a lot, as all Benfica fans.
I still think we can manage to get to the semis...but even if we get hammered 3-0 as you say...I just remembered how I read the exact same comments 4 years ago. You were all 'We'll kick you, bla bla bla...Anfield Road, bla bla bla', being arrogant...and then....0-2 for Benfica. So, I think you should respect our team as we respect yours...;)

Benfica main goal is the league title. Europa league is like a bonus...so, it does matter much more for you, who are fighting for a 4th league spot. Benfica will try to focus as much as possible on our final 6 matches on the league.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Good result really,

An hour with 10 men and only one goal deficit with the away goal, against a really in form team.

The Babel red card was stupid, but it's also a good sign imo. It shows he is getting more confidence and is willing to fight. The previous seasons he would just keep quite and skulk off, a bit of fight in him is exactly what he needs. Now to focus it in the right way.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Agger should have seen a yellow card. He kept on telling the ref what to do, every time he tackled some1 fss.
Carragher.. god what kind of karate kick was that? Straight red card.
Ínsua and Johnson can't defend for their lifes. Lol a total rape on both by Di Maria and Maxi (after the sent off). With the Argentine, in the same situation that yesteday Puyol was, wasn't sent off. Duality of arguments in refs, nothing new.
Using Mascherano and Lucas, you clrealy stated that you were going to defend and hold for either a lead or a draw. The only link from the defence to the attack was Gerrard, which was rubbish all match. Babel should buy a brain, and poor kuyt seemed to cover every1s role yesterday. Attacked, defended, made the transitions, tried to assist for the lone Torres upfront. Torres was a shadow of himself, which was cool. lol

Next game will be a passionate game. Hope we can play with our best squad and get a good solid lead in Anfield.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Can anyone tell me what happened to Fernando Torres? He's become the biggest diver in England. Last night was disgraceful. All he did was put his body in the way of the defender, wait for contact, fall down screaming. I mean, go watch a video of some real centre forwards ffs. You're a big strong lad, stand up!

My thoughts:
1. Luisao kicked the back of his leg, deliberately - yellow card
2. Babel's an idiot, but shouldn't have got a red, ref could have handled it better
3. Insua deliberately kicked Aimar's standing leg out, from behind, when he was about to shoot. How that's not a yellow card, I have no idea.
4. Given that a few of you complained about Neville keeping his leg raised but his studs out of the way of Maxi a few days ago, cannot believe you'd defend Carragher's high kick. That was very deliberate, pre-meditated and I loved that he'd raised his hands to say he'd done nothing wrong before the contact. It made him look like that flying crane karate move.
5. Liverpool lowered themselves to the Portuguese levels of dirty play, simulation, abusing referees and diving all over the place. It was disgraceful from both teams and I pity the referee.

Re: Liverpool Thread

The whole diving talking is just a lame excuse..sorry. Liverpool commited 12 fouls during the game. 2 of them were the penalties, which everybody agreed they took place. So, 10 fouls left. Just re-watch the match and see how much this discussion doesn't make sense. Fernando Torres alone 'suffered' almost as much fouls as whole Benfica team (8)! And I can post some really hilarious ones...

By the way, that yellow card to David Luiz was ridiculous...yeah, he was wasting time losing 0-1 at home...

We've already gone over this................

To recap;

Staying on your feet and losing possesion doesn't get you a freekick or an advantage / Torres get's the sh!t kicked out of him every game with no protection from the ref.

WTF else is he supposed to do?!

Rules of the game = you kick the ball away - you get booked. Simple as really. Reina got booked for letting the ball roll past him, the commentators last night timed it and said that the exact time between the ball being kicked and him getting it was 6 seconds, the time it was taking David Luiz to take his throw-ins was over 10 seconds every time.

I love all this shite about Torres diving, no mention of Luisao clearly hacking him down and getting a yellow card, could have easily (would have been in most other games) been a red.

Benfica fans having a go at players for diving is like Blackburn fans having a go at opposition players for being defensive and dull.

Re: Liverpool Thread

LOL...

Now I understand why Man United fans call you ridiculous, behind your stupid arrogance you're moaning all the time and getting excuses for everything. That's why you can't win the league for more than 20 years!

I hope Spurs got the CL place and I also hope you got trashed at your home next thursday like as 4 years ago!

Re: Liverpool Thread

you benfica fans are harsh mancs has an excuse, what`s yours  for 10 men and a result of 2-1 :P

Wow slow down mate, wtf are you on to huh? Unless you know what is going on in our thread in the past, don't you dare judge us.

Moaning? Stupid Arrogance? BENEFICA GOT ALL THE F*CKING DECISIONS RIGHT YESTERDAY so don't tell me we're arrogant, the refs went hard on us and were lucky only down 2-1.

Fair enough..then 2 or 3 Liverpool players should have been shown the yelllow card too. They kicked the ball away... Besides, David Luiz didn't kicked the ball away...but ok.
Can you please check the rule book and tell me what does it say about kicking somebody on the chest inside the box? And about the offside rule, when you have influence on the play...? ;)

Ok..so that's why you don't make much sense..Benfica players were all cheaters, but then Pepe Reina wasted 6 seconds everytime he had to make a goal kick, but that's ok...6x20...or whatever. He was wasting time, as simple as that.

Torres was fouled, and the yellow card was well given on that Luisão challenge...nobody said he dived there. He just did it lots of other times. Do I need to post the videos? Some are hilarious. He was simply to tired and all he had to do was getting free kicks for Gerrard.

About our diving...the same old accusations. Tell me which of the 10 fouls we suffered were diving. I mean...10 fouls!! And we only had 3 close to the box...

The ref was terrible. But if you look objectively, Benfica has even more reasons to complain than Liverpool... but I don't care..that guy shouldn't have been there.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Unbelieveble, they manage to make the mancs look good!

If nothing else I hope Liverpool knock them out just to shut the 2 or 3 of them up in here!

I feel like going into the manu thread just to have some reasonable discussions about Liverpool..........:D

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'll leave this place...but it's pretty clear who are the childish here. These comments were not made by Benfica fans:

Your club and the fans of Benfica (only taking about the ones that were in the stadium) are a fucking bastards.
Do you play all the matches like this one ? Throwing bombs to the pitch, diving, moaning, moaning and moaning. I have lost all respect to your pathetic club.

Can't believe how blinkered and biased you idiots are.

Benfica supporters show their view, and just because we state what happened, showing it with stats, plays and you don't have any arguements, started to taking this discussion to a lower level.
The ref was VERY poor. Benfica was punished in several plays..more than Liverpool, in my opinion. Like some respectful Liverpool fans posted here, both penalties were clear and the red card too (I disagree on this one).
You started whining...we just replied saying there were 1 penalty over Cardozo, Insua should have been sent off, etc...Luisão should have been sent off for fouling? He made 2 fouls the whole match, for christ sake!

Anyway, it doesn't matter...the match is over. If you get through I will have no problems to congratulate these respectful Liverpool fans..this is just a game.
But I have to admit I like you being so confident, like 4 years ago.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Let's wait for the next thursday's match and then we'll see it. ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

The other night did some serious damage to a previous good frienship between two clubs with massive european pedigree.

I'm not confident about the home leg, i would be if Aquilani and Maxi were fit and able to play.

It was a poor performance from us to be fair, too negative and missing a player who was starting to make us tick (Maxi), but it was a ridiculous refereing performance. Yes Benfica saw more of the ball even before the sending off, but that was always going to be the case.

Aimar fell before there was contact and the ball was going out of play. 5 minutes earlier to that, he ran into the box and fell over, arms flailing, demanding a penalty. Clear dive....no booking.

Luiz was already on a yellow when he slid in from behind and clipped Torres on the right wing as he was about to cross the ball. That is a yellow in anyones book.

I cant see how Benfica fans are moaning, you still have an advantage. Your supporters nearly got the game stopped FFS!

That one on Torres is the one i keep mentioning but according to the Benfica fans that one was a dive but Aimar's dive should have been a red card for Insua.

It's like arguing with Evertonians mate, they're like kids.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Good result for us today with Spurs losing, hopefully Burnley can get something off Mancity. Although very unlikely. Still it means spurs have a 4 point lead with games coming up against the top 3.

Yes..it's natural it damaged the relationship between the team supporters when you start being called idiots, fucking bastards and all that. What an example...

About the Aimar penalty..I simply can't understand how you can say it's not a penalty. Everybody saw it..ball going out? Have you seen the play? Insua was spared his second yellow... I imagine what would you say if it was Torres suffering a kick on the back of his knee...lol

aimar.jpg

cardozo.jpg

About Aimar's fall prior to that...I totally agree it was a dive and he could have been booked. But..it must be a joke to say Liverpool was damaged by the refs because of a yellow card, and a 2nd yellow card to David Luiz. When your goal is on offside position, Insua should have received a 2nd yellow card, Cardozo suffered another penalty (and Carragher would get 2 yellow cards)...and so on.

You're not being honest. I said I don't think Babel shouldn't been sent off, for example. Even if your player said the decision was acceptable...

So, stop acting like Benfica fans are moaning...you started complaining about the ref, and me and others showed the refereing was terrible but it even hurted more Benfica than Liverpool. And you say we're moaning..lol

UJSupanova, about you..I just have to say. Another 'idiot', 'bastard', 'kid', or something like that, this will turn into a moderation issue. I'm not the one being child here, so..learn how to participate on a forum, please.

kid? ... kid is child or short for I`m kidding...I tell ya what some pool and benfica fans are very similar  you lots love getting ppl banned

Seriously what is your problem lad?

I said those of you who were making excuses and being overly defensive were acting like childish idiots. Which i'm sorry but it's true, people who talk like that are idiots, the whole attitude that your players can do no wrong while opposition players can do no right, it's pathetic mate. If you want to keep it up then by all means continue, you keep amusing me with your ridiculous rants about something that only you and a couple of Benfica fans actually give a shit about.

I didn't call anyone a bastard btw, but if you want to attribute another false quote to me then that will be fine.
