Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

:LMAO:

Quality posts in here. I agree with Tik, seems more likely to get a less biased and more constructive comments from Mancs

Re: Liverpool Thread

If people want to play with photos and videos then how about these?

David Luiz's foul on Torres after he'd been booked, you telling me this isn't a yellow card foul?

Javi Garcia's ninja kick on Babel - completely unpunished, not even a free kick
2ppihe1.jpg

Two Benfica players in the box as the penalty is taken, was it ordered to be retaken? No was it fuck.

and the second penalty, the exact same thing...

Yet another bad foul on Torres from David Luiz, this time in the 81st minute, completely unpunished.

And the best one of the night, Luisao being booked twice yet not being sent off, because the referee is an idiot. Some might say that he was showing him the yellow again in case he missed the first one, but that's not allowed, if the card is raised again then it's a second booking, he could easily have said to him "yes, i booked you" but instead the card went up - fairly, he should have been booked for the tackle and then booked for his confrontation with Babel, Luisao should have been sent off.

YouTube - Luisao receives two yellow cards without being sent off?

Re: Liverpool Thread

nah he gave`em 1 yellow but he wasn`t seeing it so he showed it to him for confirmation. Rules are the ref must show him the card to confirm he`s been penalized or booked ...but for WU sakes its fair game continue....:SNACK:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Great pics lads.........have you guys been going over the match frame by frame?! Surely there are better ways to spend your time. :D

And if neither of you have realised, this discussion could go on for infinity and still there wouldn't be an agreement. So it's pointless......MOVE ON!

You could discuss which red colour is better, the one on Benfica's shirt or the one on Liverpool's shirt. It would be just as interesting. :P

i got the pics from another site which had already done the research for me. My point was exactly the same as yours, that no matter what there'll be no agreement. My point was that the Benfica fans feel their players did no wrong whereas the Liverpool players were filthy cheating animals, so i thought i'd show them the truth, regardless of the fact that they'll ignore it or manipulate it.

i wish there was a fishing smilie on this board.

Our red is better btw :P

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well first half over.

It's bene very poor, although with tiredness and a poro pitch it's still a good position at Birmingham. Hopefully Babel can come on as atm not a single player is looking to go wide and pu a cross in. Beni is going inside every time.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I nodded off a couple of times.

Complete lack of inspiration, drive and urgency about us today.

Re: Liverpool Thread

No Benfica fan said that sort of thing about Liverpool, quite the contrary, but lets see:

Sorry? Have you watched Babel's agression? Benfica owned the match completely, you were lucky with this "friendly" result.

P.S.: Liverpool stills my favourite british team amoung The Arsenal and Leeds Utd. ;)

Don't agree at all. Luisão and David Luiz got yellow carded when they should have. Babel, besides putting his hands all over Luisão's face, clearly said something that made the ref pull out the red card.

If Cardozo had scored half his chances you would be in real trouble.

Aimar got kicked, did you not see that? A clear penalty.

Some idiots aren't representative of all fans. When those bombs went off, the stadium in unison chanted someting like "Stupid clowns, stupid clowns" to those idiots in particular. And that was actually good for Liverpool, Benfica lost some momentum after those incidents.

And diving? There were a lot of dives from Liverpool players as well, but as usual, there's some hipocrisy in some English fans, "only the other teams dive, not ours..."

My view of the match:

- David Luiz should have been sent off in 2 situations always with Torres
- Luisão should have been sent off in Babel's fault
- Babel's red card was a good decision
- The 2 penalties are good decisions
- Insua should have been sent off in the penalty
- A yellow card should have been shown to Agger
- The referee should have apointed 2 penalties for Benfica (A shot by Aimar deflected by some L'pool guy and a fault by Carragher on Cardozo)

Now you can criticize me. :COAT:

So, where the fuck did the Benfica fans consider Liverpool players "filthy cheating animals"?

Find me a post from a Benfica fan implying that. And you were the one with this attitude:

Can't believe how blinkered and biased you idiots are.

But yeah, we Benfica fans are the bad guys.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Think someone needs to explain the rules to Rafa.

Winning the Europa League doesn't give you automatic qualification to the Champions League.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think he gave up already, Europa league is more important than league position. Chance of silverware, why not? I don't necessarily agree but it should pay off against Benefica. Maxi's playing but where will he be playing? Cause Kuyt's taken off early too so he is in contention next game, I really hope Maxi will be starting.

Let's not bash each other now airjoca & spitfire, we can do that after Thursday. Will Saviola's injury be put any affect to the starting lineup? I don't watch Benefica so might as well hear from you. Lucky for you Rafa will put 1 striker which won't bother you "too" much.

Europa League > Champions League spot?

And lucky for you lot, Saviola is out. Carragher and Agger struggled against Cardozo's physicality and would have struggled more against Saviola's pace and movement.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Maxi is cup tied and Babel is suspended.

So it will be Beni, Kuyt Gerrard and Torres with Masch and either Aqui or lucas in dm. I guess Carra will go to LB with Agger and The Greek in CD?

Tbh it wasn't a strange decision to take Torres off, Ngog had more chances in those 25min. then Torres had all game and a lot of it was just that extra bit of freshness in the legs to use the space. Should have easily scored a couple in the last 15min but sadly it just highlighted why we have struggled so much this season, no quality to just finish the chances.

Which positions actually qualify for europe? 1st 4 CL, 5th and cup winners EL. But manu won the carling so does that mean it goes to 6th? And if chelsea or spurs win the facup does that mean it continues to 7th?

In our case I don't see why not? Europa Crown FTW !! (God I hate to state the fact)

IF Saviola play on Thursday, Carra will eat him for breakfast, or the other way around? Again today Carra almost hit another player with his high karate-/-toe-poke-the-ball-while-I'm-out-of-position, he's getting good at this.

Kuyt's starting then, God hope Lucas will be out and Aquilani's in, but we only need a clean 1-0 win to progress, which Rafa definitely will go 4-5-1 again. Carra @ LB for sure, betting on Glen having a huge game.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Even Gerrard looked like "wtf?" with that sub. lol

Honestly in here there have been no news about Saviola being fit to play against Pool, i hope he is. He is for us what Torres is for you guys. Hope he is fit so we can have a nice game to watch.
Another thing, Carra on the left? Not sure he can handle Ramires pace without having to give him one of his new kick-you-in-the-shoulder tackle thing, him and Maxi but this one im not sure will be going forward that many times since its in Anfield. Too bad Insua isn't going to play, him and Johnson are a pleasure to see defending. lol [/sarcasm] :P

Carragher will look a fool if played at LB, would much rather see Agger there but I'm pretty sure it'll be Carra.

He will miss Liverpool and Sporting games.

By the way, on the subject of all this controversy around the game, I think anyone here from Benfica disrespected you.
We just showed our views without offend anyone. Further, we all have immense respect for the great and glorious history of Liverpool and the extraordinary crowd at the Kop. Airjoca, Neoexudus, SPiTFiRE, #71 and me are not like the idiots who sent those flares to the field.
I wish you the best in the league (well, not the best at all as Spurs and Chelsea ara my favourite brits :P)

Just a post to clear things.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Atmospheres in England, in general, are crap these days.

It was great seeing the passion in Estadio de Luz, such as that kid crying when Cardozo equalised.

Here people'll tell you off for coughing or standing up.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Oh guys don't say that! My dream is to watch a Premier League match live! The whole atmosphere and excitement of the games in England fascinated me since childhood.

:(

You'd be better off going to see a lower league game then, and i don't mean the 'Championship' i mean non-league because the passion has gone. It fills me with anger and hatred but it's true, and it's easy to blame out of towners or foreignors for it (and it partly is their fault) but the truth is it's our own fault. We've let the game get into this state and it's a fucking joke.

i hate everyone.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It is time to say it is over. No European Football next season, and I hope that no Rafa

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hold on a sec mate, we're still in the Europa League and SURELY we will position no less than 7th .......... did I say that right? Unless European Football = Champions League only.

Just a post to clear things.

I was at home, watching the game so i sure wasn't one of them. :SMUG:

Another thing, i just want to make it clear that i wasn't in your arguments about refs after our game. Its pointless to discuss it, i would rather discuss football then rules. Just to clear things out.

Dags, the guy for the left side should be some1 that can defend and has pace to handle Ramires because he is a fast and a tireless dude, he even has the name Queniano (like those marathon guys that run all day lol). Dunno if Carra fits that profile, but we'll see.
Btw is Aquilani match fit or is Rafa going to support that defensive (Masch + Lucas) midfield again?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Actually, will they put Masch at LB instead? Have Lucas and Aquilani in dm.

He's played at RB a couple of times and has been solid, Im pretty sure lb wouldn't make a big difference for him, atleast defending wise.

Agreed.

However, there is a fine line between passion and being over "passionate"

Liverpool fans rank pretty low these days to a lot of teams, Germans...Serbs..The Greeks and Turks etc in terms of noise, the latter three examples being quite dangerous places to watch football.

But the PL have brought in a raft of measures to contail any sort of fan display of passion in this country.

The best balance between safety, comfort and noise is in Germany, and this is because of the price of tickets, the capacity of the stadiums and the safe standing areas.

The KOP however, was still always the most impressive stand in England and was always and will continue to be the most colorful, even if you have Norwegians telling Scousers to sit down and zip it so they can take pictures of Gerrard taking a corner.

Re: Liverpool Thread

What do you mean by colourful?

I mean, I appreciate that the Kop was a great stand but I can't help but feel a lot of it's 'legend' was exagerrated and overstated and it turned into a bit of a myth itself if you get me.

P.S. I'm not on a WUM. :)
