Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

We've signed Raheem Stirling, supposed to be a wonderkid who attracted a lot of attention from other clubs in the league.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hahaha Tik

He's meant to be really good, I know we were meant to be in for him as well as Arsenal, City and a few other PL clubs so I guess you got in there quickest to sort a deal out. It's unlikely we'll see exactly how good he is for a few years yet but I suppose if Rafa is trying to sort your academy out he might develop nicely.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Mascherano at right-back? No Babel or Aquilani?

Very odd decisions. It IS Rafa I guess.

Re: Liverpool Thread

get a grip lad, fuck's sake.

I never said we wouldn't improve with Aquilani did i? If it hadn't been for that Greek lad's disconnection with reality on the previous page you would have won the award for most loaded and twisted argument. As it stands you're just thick.
Lucas started almost every game this season and has only 1 assist and no goals. For a midfielder that is just pathetic.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Not every midfielder is responsible for creating chances, some are there to break up attacking moves.

There's plenty of DM's who go a season with one assist and no goals but are superb. In fact Mascherano has only just got his second goal for the club hasn't he? He's not a bad player...

Re: Liverpool Thread

He's not good enough if Liverpool want to win the league...he's a decent back-up player but not more...that's Liverpool nowadys: plnty of decent back-up players with good work ethic like Kuyt.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Such a difference today when we went 2-1 up, a lot more flair and creativity along with players deciding to move for passes a lot more. Almost as if Benitez told the players to attack!

Pleased with that performance, although Kuyt was quite wasteful which was annoying. Pleased to see Torres come through the match unscathed as well :D

Mascherano is suppose to be our defensive midfielder and Lucas our "quality midfielder", the one that can contribute to the team with assists and goals. But, if you see the matches you will realise he ends playing similar to Mascherano (obviusly there is an enormous difference in player´s category) and even Mascherano, who is suppose to be our defensive midfielder, has two goals and contributing more to the attack than Lucas.
So, if Mascherano can manage the midfield and Lucas isnt contributing in the attack, can you explain what the fuck is he doing ?

Re: Liverpool Thread

He's not a DM. He's as offensive-minded as Aquilani, at least that's how he was named player of the year in Brazil. One could say that Rafa has probably ruined him.

Yeah, this is old talk, it's been three years, but seems the only explanation to me. Same story as Anderson.

Yep, he was a AMC before he came to Liverpool but Rafa has gone and changed him to be a DMC instead. Which is odd as you'd think he'd be buying the Lucas that was so good in Brazil previously, not trying to create a new player.

But then you only have to look at players like Kuyt, Babel, Keane and Bellamy for example. He doesn't seem to like players playing in their preferred position for some reason.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Gerrard doesn't get to do it either, or Beni. Atleast Reina hasn't been put into midfield.......:D

Only saw the last 40min of the match, team looked ok, but should have been ablel to keep better possesion near the end imo. Good result though.

I can't believe how funny I'm finding this right now. :P

Needs some sort of comedy music or reference added to it though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

He should have rolled around on the floor holding his face.

Sad that a player actually has to do that to even get the other player to receive the correct punishment. Ref's seem to be gettign worse and worse, or I should say they are all following Howard Webb's template for succes; Don't make any important decision and wave you arms around a lot.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Lucas is 23 years old. 23! And a rather good pass for Torres' goal.

How good is Yossi though? Look a different team with him in it.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Lucas is your Fletcher, he'll become a very good player but most outsiders will regard him as crap even when he does.

Was that Lucas that did that Jaw-dropping pass to Torres from the midfield? Lucky Maxi was there to help out.

Re: Liverpool Thread

We've been linked with Arda Turan several times in the last year, as far as i know he's a player that Rafa likes (or at least his scouts/coaches do). I've a big fan of him myself and i'd love us to sign him, and after his comments this week when he said something like "If i go to Europe, i'd love to go to Liverpool" i think the move is closer to happening.

I've only seen him a few times obviously as the Super Lig doesn't get much coverage here, but you obviously see him play regularly, what's your honest opinion of him mate?
