Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

We fucked up again, this season is turning out to be a depressing one

Re: Liverpool Thread

You'll get 4th, even if you've done worse then expected thats where you were going to finish anyway.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Liverpool should buy Steven Defour...he would be very complementary to Gerrard and Aquilani.

I also think they should buy a second good striker. Kuyt has great mentality but he lacks skill...

Somebody asked here why Alonso wasn't lynched...why ? The giuy is a great player and was fantastic with Liverpool (your best and most important player).

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah, there is no reason to be pissed off at Alonso. He did well and Rafa tried to get rid of him after two "mediocre" seasons after which he had his best season at Liverpool. Which I think was to make sure he could get any transfer he wanted.

As for the Rafa losing the dressingroom, it might be the case actually. There is just something about the mentality this season that has been off, you can see it in players getting irritated with each other, Gerrard seeming to not turn up if he has anybody but Torres infront of him. Can't blame him really, I mean Kuyt is just pointless up front.

The only positive about yesterday was that the 1st half was back to how we were last season, albeit missing some sharpness. But how the same team "performed" in the 2nd half is beyond me, there was nothing left.

Having 3 attacking midfielders wouldn't work, Rafa made his choice with Aquaman. SAF has an eye on him so maybe he'll end up at Old Trafford though ;))

Re: Liverpool Thread

The thing is having Masch, Lucas and Kuyt starting really dented our offensive options, so when we needed some creativity, we don't know where to turn to, even Gerrard too. I'm afraid that Rafa's to blame for that. I hope Aquilani can help, he showed some sparks when he came on. Nobody has that in our current starting 11.

How are his defensive skills ? I would love him as a replacement for Mascherano. Deffour and Gerrard as central midfielders and Aquilani as a tetraquartista behind Torres.

What on Earth?!?! - Why would you move Gerrard back from behind Torres? That's probably the most lethal 2-some in the world?!

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'd personally move Gerrard to the right in place of Kuyt. He's proven he can play well there, and still score goals.

Re: Liverpool Thread

As a matter of fact, since Fellaini left Standard Defour transformed himself to a DMF. I think he is a better DMF than he was an AMF... i never really considered Defour as an AMF...he is more a CMF...

Going to MAn Utd would be a bad move for Defour at the moment...the step up would be too big. Liverpool would be OK for him. But i think he will end up at Man Utd. There is another great Belgian DMF that would suit Liverpool well, Ajax player Jan Vertonghen (who at the moment plays as a CB with Ajax, but he is a pure DMF). I consider him the best Belgian player. He's better than Defour, Fellaini and Vermaelen.

Off-topic: i'm glad Vermaelen is a success at Arsenal, but i'm really stunned about that...i had my doubts about him. And somewhere i think he's being overrated at the moment, defensively i think he's vulnerable...but i wouldn't mind to be wrong.

Re: Liverpool Thread

If Defour signs for Liverpool there's almost no chance he'll ever play for us.

This one's for you Dags

Raises some interesting points regarding whether Rooney's should be forgotten because he did not profit from the dive whereas N'Gog and Eduardo won penalties. He doesn't mention the times Gerrard and Rooney HAVE benefited like the 2005 CL Final for Gerrard and game where we ended Arsenal's Invincibles unbeaten record for Rooney.

Re: Liverpool Thread

On MOTD 2 not sure you caught it but Hanson said " Johnson should of fallen down and possibly get a free kick to deny Arshavin`s goal" :CONFUSE: This article makes so much sense as much as disturbing. Every time a foreigner gets caught you can see them say ,but they done it and nothing happens :COP:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Maybe because we need to do some changes, because we are playing awful. I dont know, I think that Gerrard best position is CM.
Gerrard's clearer shown over the last few seasons for England and Liverpool that his best position is further forward, with limited defensive responsibilities.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Agree, he tries too many hollywood balls losing possesion far too much, however atm we don't have anybody that can control the midfield either with little to no link-up play.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Benayoun's been poor since Gerrard returned from injury too, they take up the same places on the pitch I think and get in each others way.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah, that aswell. The team is unbalanced with both of them and Kuyt in the team. There is no width, Beni always goes inside and Kuyt is slow.

Was thinking about how easy it is to defend against Liverpool; we don;t have anybody, except Gerrard that can strike a ball from distance; Torres is on the edge of the box or inside, Kuyt only scores tap-ins, Beni won't even shoot in the box, let alone outside, the less said about Masch the better, and the even less said about Lucas the better. So no width and hardly any damage from outside the box.

I think we do really miss Reira, we noticed it last season that he gave the team a far better balance. And even though he isn't the most spectacular player he stays wide and keeps possesion and is fast enough to be dangerous on the wing.

Anyway, what about tonights match? I'm worried it will be another Birmingham match. :(

Re: Liverpool Thread

If only the team knew you had to play to tthe final whistle and not till the 90min mark......would have been great to play Real again.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Great draw against Unirea :DD Enjoy it lads. Channel 5 Thursdays remember..incase you tune into ITV.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah this isn't form anymore, something is up in the team or between the players and Rafa.

Gerrard said Masch was going to be sent off and he didn't even seem to be bothered about it.

Re: Liverpool Thread

What oh dear? OMFG !!!!

I must admit that I wanted Portsmouth to score more than 2-0 to underline how f*cking stubborn Rafa to play Kuyt Lucas and Masch AGAIN !!!!!! Take a chance with the other players he has, come on! If the starting 11 didn't work, change it. Even Torres lost it today.

Rafa has lost the dressing room, there is no doubt about that. He is a great coach, but sometimes you have to quit. It is clear that the players are tired of him and want him to go, but i think he is so stubborn that he will stay.

That, and there is a nice pay-off if he gets fired.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just read that the ref was the same one from the Fulham game, sending off two players. Amazing that he manages to send off 3 players in debatable circumstances while Liverpool hardly have any other red cards the whole season.

Wouldn't have mattered though.
