Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

You're totally going to walk the match tonight. No doubt in my mind. Lyon are perennial underachievers in Europe, and have had great opportunities in the past and screwed them up. They'll view this match as a 'good to win' - come out and try in the first 15, concede then just be happy looking for a draw.

By January you'll be in the top 5 in the league, in the CL knockouts and through to whatever round of hte FA Cup it is. If it weren't for the manic press, no one would care.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Rafa - "We will try to win and we know that when you walk through a storm, hold your head up high - and we will try to hold our heads up high."

:APPLAUD:

That's just brilliant really, clever choice of words and a great moment to use them.

Re: Liverpool Thread

You're kidding Dags.

It couldn't be any cornier, it couldn't be anymore of a cynical ploy to get the fans on his side so the club don't sack him.

I noticed they've all fallen in love and want his babies on RAWK.

The Third Reich could easily have ruled for 1000 years if they had Rafa in charge, the way your fans follow him with blind faith is unbelieveable. He could get relegated and you'd still all be right behind him and deriding those that feel his time is up as WUM's.

Re: Liverpool Thread

you're right, any manager that completely overhauls the club but doesn't win the league in the first 7 years should be sacked ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

I didn't say he should, I'm just highlighting that Rafa really could lead Liverpool into oblivion and yet he'd still have a massive army of people saying they love his goatee and he's clearly the man for the job.

And if there is any criticism in the ranks, he just reels off a line from YNWA and everything is alright again.

Anyways, forget that he's had to overhaul the club in 7 years and focus on the fact that you've lost six of your last seven games and are in danger of going out of Europe (or does all that not matter because you beat us due to Rafa's genius?).

Liverpool fans need to stop focusing on what he has done, hanging on to the fact he won the Champions League in his first season and realise that you're nowhere near winning the league this year, and might not even finish in the top four. If after that, you still think Rafa is the man for the job then fine, keep him.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Rafa is a genius to use those words. He should of sang "We`ll never walk alone" while hold up the scarf!!! :BOP: proper nutter

Mancs need to stop focussing on Liverpool and trying to convince us that Rafa's no good. We don't give a fuck what you lot think. :TTTH:

Re: Liverpool Thread

A lot of the posters on RAWK and TLW tend to reference SAF and/or other team so you clearly do, and it clearly works both ways.

Anyway, it's an absolute certainty that you'll win tonight.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I thing most mancs feel the "mAgic" that Pool has... Thats y there addicted to commenting on LFC! Seriously some of you lot are obsessed with this thread its quite funny really.........but I think As UJsupanova said you just want us to Turn on rafa, because if he does eventually get it right at anfield.. we'll push UTD all the way in the league.

With the big number 19 looming you would hate to see that happen because good old fergus would probally get Cardiac arrest!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Tonights team

....................Reina

Carragher...Agger...Kyrgiakos...Insua

................Mascherano
...................Lucas
Kuyt......................................Benayoun
..............Voronin
......................Torres

Bench
Cavalieri, Aquilani, Babel, Ngog, Spearing, Darby, Ayala.

No surprises tbf, i'd rather Voronin start than Babel. I'd expect Torres to play 65 minutes and then N'Gog will come on probably followed by Aquilani who will replace Lucas or Benayoun.

Agree with the cynical YNWA comment, thought it was cheesy aswell. But why do you bother to post so much about a manager that "will" run Liverpool into the ground......

Or does everything Manu do have to be related to Liverpool? I.e. If Liverpool weren't anywhere near to being challengers/relegated would that make winning anything with Manu far less meaningfull?

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think you're all getting too defensive again. Schadenfreude is very common in England and especially when it comes to football. You're our biggest rivals both in a geographic sense and in a competitive sense (18/18) so we're bound to have some sort of interest.

Personally I am enjoying this because having spent the whole summer being told by almost everyone (fans/mates/journalists/pundits) that we've got no chance because Ronaldo and Tevez left us and that Liverpool would win the league, you're languishing outside the European places, struggling to get out your CL group, your genius managers frankly gash squad has finally been exposed and you have lost 6 of your last 7 matches while we're 2nd in the league, already qualified from our group and haven't even been playing that well. I can't imagine any of you would feel any different if it was the other way around.

It's just a bit of banter. We don't really think Rafa is the worst manager in the world ever. We don't really think you'll get relegated. It's just a laugh.

That's all. Hope you understand my point.

P.S.
The cheese-laden Never Walk Alone reference by Rafa was clearly another desperate attempt to keep the fans onside (which seems to have worked)

It was a bit Mike bassett tho lol

Re: Liverpool Thread

Oh well, that's the CL over for this season. It's almost amusing how shit they are playing and conceding last minute goals. Lyon didn't do anything in the match and yet they still manage to f#$k it up!

Re: Liverpool Thread

This is unbelivable. Anyway, we didnt deserve to qualify to the knockout stage. Its going to be really weird next February.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Im royally peeved.

Lyon were garbage and wernt much better at Anfield and somehow got 4 points off us. barely deserved tonight, we just cant get a lucky break.

Although i think Insua needs dropping, we seem weak on the left, with most goals coming through that channel.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Liverpool must the won two CL matches against Fiorentina and Debrecen...And hope to Lyon won Fiorentina... Otherwise-goodbye CL

Re: Liverpool Thread

You do know we're not out yet don't you?
Yes, but its going to be really difficult. We can win the two matches, but Lyon has to beat Fiorentina. Anyway, that match would be for the first position so maybe Lyon is going to play it with the best they have.
