Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Oh god, not another my manager is bigger then yours discussion. LMAO

Crap game, for all Liverpool's domination they created......one chance that fell to Beni who hit the bar. Torres' goal wasn't even a chance really, he's just that good that he scores with it. HHH just isn't fast enough to play in the prem, takes too long. Beni on the wing is wasted and Kuyt was just crap. One of those typical games were a team sits back and knows Liverpool will hardly create anything.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Where's that exactly then?

Yeah sorry you're right, Abhi didnt start the manager comparisons.

When was Wengers last trophy then?

I just don't think someone can be in a position to comment on another teams manager when their manager hasn't won shit for many years. Kinda hyprocritical really, how can you mock another manager when yours has achieved less in recent years?

But you did.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Right, so what did you expect when some muppet who never comes in here decides to pop in all of a sudden and have a pop? He came in to take the piss and he can fuck off if he thinks he's right to do that because Arsenal are having a decent season where they've done fuck all for years now.

Utd fans can call managers out and make comments, as can Chelsea fans as far as I'm concerned. But to be a fan of a team who's doing well 2 months into a season and suddenly think it gives him a right to go around accusing other ESTABLISHED, ACKNOWLEDGED, PROVEN managers takes the piss frankly and Rafa deserves more respect than that.

The fact he hasn't shown his face in here before (and if he has it's probably been when Arsenal won a few games and Liverpool didn't) says he's a piss-taking muppet and needs to get a grip.

Too many WUM's on this site sometimes and it pisses me right off.

LOL who are you talking about? i still think liverpool will challenge for the title.

The problem is mr dags is it seems most liverpool fans dont have patience while arsenal fans have TOOO much patience. remember i said i wanted wenger to be sacked right?

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'd be happy to finish 4th at this rate, regardless of where United or anyone else finish.

The way it's all going for us, we'll be in the Europa League next season. I doubt we'll finish less than 4th come the end of the season though, we will come good again. But realistically there's no chance of us winning the league now.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Last season Arsenal was in the same predicament sitting in 6th while Aston Villa was comfortable in 3rd with 7 pts spread, but near the end we were alone in 4th.It`s a long season mate soon everyone will be fit and this bump will be forgotten.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah the other teams (city, villa, etc) have shown their "quality", Liverpool will still be 4th, or higher as even though we've had this ridiculously poor run we are still a "massive" 4 points behind Arsenal. So far we've had most of our defense injured, half the midfield hasn't played, we've had to play lucas making it -2 players and Torres has been injured half the time aswell. Makes us sound like Arsenal.

Arsenal are doing well with v Persie, but he won't last half a season, let alone a whole season, Chelsea will lose the African's in jan/feb and manu will just continue to beat the rest of the league. I can see both Chelsea and Arse taking points off them aswell. We'll be close enough at the end of the season, Rafa was probably correct to prioritise the CL match and throw the Fulham one.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think the Cheslea and ACN thing is a bit of a myth. During that time they play some pretty easy games, no 'big' matches at all. They should win them regardless.

There should be no doubt that Pool can still get back into it - as you said they're not far behind at this relatively early stage of the season. But they haven't really shown glimpses of doing so. Half the games you've won have been tight and could have gone either way. I guess the lack of draws is something though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

4th will be a lot harder this year but you'll probably show enough (more than Spurs/City/Villa) to get 4th. Once you get Aquilani, Gerrard and Torres playing regularly you'll be fine.

Thats What I think too, but to be fair to Lucas he played some decent passes against fulham. I dont think Voronins presence did any justice to the team chemistry. But we need some killer passes and I'm sure aquaman will provide them.

But we need Gerrard n Torres fit, because Torres is the only real striker, Ngogs decent but needs to develop and Tripple H, Babel are shite, Kuyts better for us on the right.

Re: Liverpool Thread

The situation right now is pretty shit, but it's definitely fixable.

The injury list looks pretty bad at the minute and that is the primary cause at the minute.

Dead and dying:

Gerrard - groin
Aquilani - virus
Aurelio - calf
N'Gog - ankle
Agger - back
Skrtel - muscle
Riera - hamstring
Kelly - ankle
Johnson - calf
El Zhar - knee

Torres - groin - playing through pain on injections.

Liverpool currently have a squad of 34 players who have a squad number (there's another 17 youth/reserve/on loan players who aren't in the proper squad), 12 of the 38 are reserves/youth team players (such as Amoo and Ecclestone), another 4 are out on loan (Nemeth, San Jose, Martin and Itandje), then there's 11 injured.

This leaves 12 senior players who are fit and elligable;

Reina
Cavalieri
Insua
Kyrgiakos
Carragher
Degen
Mascherano
Lucas
Babel
Benayoun
Kuyt
Voronin

Take any 10 players out of any team in the Premier League and they'll struggle. Include the best two players in that 10 and they'll really struggle. If you were to take 10 players out of Chelsea's team including Lampard, Drogba, Ballack, Essien etc. They'd be fucked. Take Rooney, Fletcher, Ferdinand, Berbatov, Giggs etc. out of United's team and they'd also be fucked.

We're having a really shit time at the minute, the worst spell for a long time, but all is not lost. Last season we scored more than any team in the league, we had our highest ever PL points tally and were unlucky not to win it. This squad is slightly better than last years but haven't had a chance yet as Alonso's replacement hasn't played yet. We need to be a bit more patient, if things are still like this in January, then we can start asking questions, right now is definitely not the right time to be piling pressure on the manager.

Re: Liverpool Thread

UJ's post highlight exactly the good and the bad for Liverpool.

The good; we have 7 first team players out (and have had quite a few on and off for the whole season so far) yet we are still relatively close.

The bad; the other players just don't seem to have the mentality to grind out wins/draws, that's down to the manager imo.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Dont worry lads you lot will come good again soon, although I thinks its hilarious with whats happening on the pitch, I do feel a bit sorry for the fans that spend hundreds of £s on tickets and travel to watch not very good football and bad decision making from Rafa.

tbf i don't think it's all down to Rafa, the likes of Babel and Voronin should be killing themselves to get on the pitch yet Babel doesn't seem arsed at any point.

I remember when we signed Babel i had a look on a few Ajax fan sites and there were loads of their fans laughing at us for signing someone they called "lazy, careless and stupid" I thought "he's young, he'll grow out of that at Liverpool" Well it seems they were right, he really doesn't seem to care and it's really disappointing because i had high hopes for the lad.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I`m Happy I was able to bring some positive thinking in here...and about Van Persie not making it the whole season I disagree he had 2 hard years of injury spells. I think he`s finally recovered I or we can only hope.We don`t depend on his goals(Persie) we have VERMINATOR!!!:P

Over the years I`ve seen some teams come very close in breaking into the top 4 ,whether upset stomachs or Everton`s CL qualification to elimination from elimination... in reality it`s all about selling paper or headlines. The cream always raises to the top...Pool is either in 3rd or 4th unless the others drop, it could be very interesting still. I would like to see Chels drop to 4th

Re: Liverpool Thread

Haha that's never gonna happen though Beboq, Chelsea are looking good for at least 2nd, more likely 1st.

I agree with the rest though, I'd be surprised if Liverpool don't finish in the top 4. City will push hard but I'm still not sure they're good enough.

Just read something that shocked me.... Liverpool have conceded more goals than bottom club Portsmouth!

Yeah, they are just crap. But I do think Rafa's total organisation method's leads to a lack of passion from the players. Heard the same aswell regarding Babel, Ajax fans didn't rate him highly and have proven to be true.

maybe, but i'm not sure myself. I mean, look at Reina, Gerrard, Mascherano and even Lucas to an extent, they always play with passion and you can see it when we score, especially Reina, he goes nuts.

Against Man Utd we had a lot of belief and passion, it seemed like a big release to the players, then we played Fulham and they seemed like a completely different team imo, no passion. Tbf we dominated Fulham for 80 minutes, we passed the ball around nicely, we were playing some nice football, but as soon as the ball got to their area the killer instinct wasn't there.

Even in the Arsenal game you could see the players wanted it, we just didn't get that bit of luck on the night.

I just hope we can get back to fixing what's fucked tomorrow night.

Re: Liverpool Thread

The fact is that apart from Gerrard and Benayoun, we don't have enough creativity in the squad. Riera, Aurelio, Babel, Kuyt, Mascherano, Lucas and Spearing aren't going to cut defences open with a pass.

Aquilani should be another player to help us create those chances, but I'm worried there's so much pressure on him from everyone, and he could just get marked out of games as other teams will know how much of an outlet he is. Hopefully that will free up Gerrard and Benayoun though.

But that's the point. It's all very well getting worked up for Manu, chelsea, etc but you win leagues by beating the dross. On football365 they have a stat section and it mentioned that manu have a, nearly, 100% record against 5-20th at home for the past two years and something close for away matches aswell. That's 15x3+12*3=81 points there. A couple of decent results against the big teams and you're league champions. That's the problem with them having no passion, or lack of for the other 30 odd matches a season. Most of the time quality will be enough but when you lose a few players and are on equal footing passion will get those extra points.

Re: Liverpool Thread

On the face of things your fucked tomorrow. No Gerrard, Johnson and Aurelio. Your relying on a Unfit Aquilani and most probably injection needy Torres (Who apparently needs Surgery and will be out for a while after).

Saying all this you'll probably win. I'm just not sure how?!

Re: Liverpool Thread

It feels kinda like I was for the previous CL finals, really quite nervous about tomorrow :(

I'm going to be in a pub in Rotherham somewhere watching it, so no other Liverpool fans (you'd imagine) and it'll probably be a lot less tense than if I was watching in a pub here.

I remember the last time I went to a pub to watch such an important CL game that wasn't a final, it was against Benfica in 2006 and we lost, going out of the CL.

I'm shitting myself :(
