Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think the media is putting this more than it is really, does every time Rafa wants to buy and the board says no, means he plans to quit because of it? Gosh I hope he doesn't think like that, like a spoiled kid I must say IF he thinks like that. IT'S THE MEDIA PEOPLE!

Re: Liverpool Thread

I reckon so. Rafa has told Torres to stop arguing and complaining and get on with his game, he couldn't have timed it better. Stoke will give him a rough ride tonight and he's going to get some hefty hits I reckon.

=Penalties and red cards more than likely! It is at Anfield after all.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I miss Sami. He was our best defender by far, the last two years.

Still, just 4th choice CB, so it's good enough.

Don't expect any signings now.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I doubt you'd have signed Silva, Valencia seemed to change their tune about Villa/Silva and claimed they weren't for sale. I think your better anyway as he wouldn't suit your set-up.

17M for Johnson was just way to much and then another 20M on Aquilani whose a bit of a crock weren't the right buys. You've initially spent more and got a weaker side.

You guys are going to hammer poor Stoke tonight. Lots of pent up agression methinks...

At first I thought you were serious but I think your on a WUM now.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Apparantly Silva was all ready to move and the deal was pretty much done ... but the Americans wouldn't sign it off :CURSE:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just rumors mate, that's what the media wants you to believe. Building up the "hate-the-americans" theme.

EDIT: I was answering Dags post.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Can't see him leaving hours before a match ... but then you never know!

Edit: From Gedo (RAWK):

Just to ease everyone's mind, Rafa is pissed off that the new contract to Torres/Gerrard etc etc, have come out Transfer Budget,Leaving him with next to nothing to spend

But he HASN'T left the Club

Re: Liverpool Thread

Surely he wouldn't leave just before a match?

yeh i doubt it.

It's another one of those stories that originated in the bookies, yesterday (after internet news sites said that Hicks and Gillett had blocked the move for that Greek lad (can't remember his name, can't be arsed finding it) (before the Greek had revealed on his own site that the deal was on) apparently loads of people put bets on Rafa being the next manager to go after this news broke so the bookies reacted in the usual way by lowering the price.

Same as the Ribery thing this.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Anyone have a decent sopcast stream? Quite a few are showing Burnley-Manu whilst the pool ones are pretty poor, well actually very poor :(

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hopefully Aqua can have the same start as Johnson. Maybe it's my stream but he seems to be doing great; Good attack, good tackling and a great goal. :D

Re: Liverpool Thread

Wow, that was pretty good. We look a more fluid side. You can see Benayoun and Dirk cutting in, and they're playing as almost supporting strikers, than wingers.

And Johnson is brilliant.

Re: Liverpool Thread

We were very, very fluid today and tidy on the ball. Lovely linkup play. The players were 80% quicker in their minds today than they were against Spurs.

Lucas was immense, Glenn Johnson outstanding, Mash back to his maurading best....Benayoun, Gerrard, Kuyt, Nando....all linked up well.

Good stuff. Comparing results to last year...we lost to spurs and drew with Stoke at Home. Were 2 points better off :D

Now just hope this Rafa rumour doesnt keep popping up.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Dogged playing style, Exclusive Throw-In attacking system, Timewasting when 3-0 down..........

Welcome to Stoke Football Club

Sums them up really, 88min. 3-0 and the goalie is wasting time. Maybe if he would have hurried up the 4-0 wouldnt have gone in! :D

Shows the difference Johnson makes against these teams, Beni/Gerrard, Kuyt on the right and Johnson comes bombing down the wing playing further forward then them overrunning their 2/3man rightside defense. And nice to see the Mancs not get pulle dout of the smelly stuff by Ronaldo/Tevez. :D

Re: Liverpool Thread

I have to say Lucas chipped in with a Good performance especially in the second half. If he can look forward just a bit more and thread some balls into Benayoun, Kuyt, Gerrard, El Nino and Johnson he'll be fine but he has to keep improving and not loose concentration.

Stoke kind of gave up but we needed that after the press (talksport! & others) had a wankfest over Benitez leaving.

Re: Liverpool Thread

anyone else think Aquilani will be licking his lips after watching that. Hopefully we keep that same tempo up in all our home games particularly against the likes of stoke, brum etc, think Alberto would excel in those sorts of games, and also away from home i think he has the creativity to play on the break.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Strange post-match Benitez comments:

"We are working hard to see if we can announce good new signings. We have enough money for now."

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just got back, lucas was superb tonight, as was gerrard, kuyt, benayoun and especially johnson. Great performance and so different to the spurs game. Funny hearing utd got their typical last min penalty when losing ... But they fluffed it! Quality night.
