Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Also, if everyone else involved (apart from the victim obviously) pleaded guilty and Gerrard who was at the centre of it also admits to being involved then how can he be innocent. How can it be self defence?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Tik, I agree with what you say about this happening every weekend but this isn't an every day case because of who is involved. Gerrard is supposed to be a role model for young kids, he is WORSHIPED in Liverpool and across the world, I for one would not want my son (if I had one) to look up to and respect this guy because he sets a terrible example.

I'm pretty sure the law doesn't have legislation for "Celebrities". Whether we think he is, should act as, a rolemodel is irrelevant. You should also direct your ire at the prosecution for going for the affray charge. It's very poor preparation that he can so easily use a self-defense argument and have it partly be backed up by the victim. They should have gone for a lesser charge and gotton him.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Posting Ballague's view is the same as saying, bob down the pub says this.

Re: Liverpool Thread

There's a big difference between kicking a BNP supporter that spouting racist abuse at you and throwing punches at a DJ for not letting you choose the music, not to mention that fact Gerrard was with a gang and didn't have to get involved in the affray.

Who does the DJ think he is, not letting the mighty Stevie G choose the music.

but of course you chose to believe one side of the story.

Gerrard admitted landing 1 punch, but according to Stevie, the Manc DJ was the one with the attitude, he probably didn't appreciate a load of scousers singing Liverpool football songs in the bar after trouncing the Magpies 5-1.:OOOH:

If Gerrard really did have this god complex I reckon he'd have gotten in similar trouble a long time before this incident (baring the drink driving which every footballer has done and will continue to do so despite the McCormack indident)

Re: Liverpool Thread

That's just being desperate, Nonetheless Silva isn't as good as he's made out.

How is that being desperate? Just an observation based on watching both these players play in the last two seasons. Not talking about potential or anything, but just how effective the player is right now.

It wasn't really to do with the DJ not letting him play the songs, Gerrard had the music "menu" in his hand as said something along the lines of "let me pick some songs to put on lad, can i use your card?" and the DJ said "no you can't, and who are you callin lad?" and grabbed the menu from him.

So Gerrard was pissed off, and went back to the bar. The DJ was then sat by the bar near Gerrard and his mates, Gerrard spoke to him about his attitude and when he argued back Gerrard's mate threw his elbow, then the DJ got up to react and went to throw a punch but Gerrard got one in first to stop him, then Gerrard was pulled out of the way.

I don't know what the other 5 did after that tbh but i can only assume it involved the rest of them kicking off and shouting shit at him.

I don't think anyone's surprised at the verdict, but as predicted, a lot of mancs and evertonians are loving it and are going on about how Gerrard's "cheated the system"

the same fans who made Duncan Ferguson, Eric Cantona et al their heroes are now vilifying Gerrard after a scuffle in which he was found not guilty of being a cunt.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just thought I'd add my two cents.

My dad has done a few of Gerrard's kids parties and he said that he is one of the most down to earth celeb's he has met. However, his wife is a "stuck up bitch"

Re: Liverpool Thread

I know you're gonna support him lads, he's one of your own but come on FFS there's no way on earth that if his mates pleaded guilty, he is the innocent party in all this.
His mates have bailed him out big time.
The one good thing to come out of this is that now the whole country knows Stevie Meee has shocking dress sense, can't dance to save his life and likes Phil Collins that in itself is indefensible.

Re: Liverpool Thread

whoa are we losing arbeloa?
i think he is quite good--useful, consistent, balanced.

who will take his position, degen?! carra?! why cant we keep alonso, masch, AND arbeloa?!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Who will take his position?

Johnson obviously. Arbeloa is too good to be a benchwarmer...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hardly anyone says "la" anymore these days. MUCH more likely he said "lad".

Re: Liverpool Thread

He got away with it Peter, no point now trying to justify it
Oh by the way they've released a photo of the jury

Re: Liverpool Thread

Ngog looks quality today, some really good touches and working very hard.

Can't say the same about Degen and Voronin unfortunately.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I was watching a bit of the game against Thailand and it really must be said, I think you're only playing Degen because he has serious mental disabilities and his parents have paid to let him play with you in friendlies.

He is shite.

Re: Liverpool Thread

He didn't do much better today either, possibly worse even.

Nice finish by Nemeth there.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Very nice goal by Nemeth again. Kuyt is playing superbly well, with Pacheco looking awesome again :D

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yep he played up top for one of them but he's mainly an AM/C, bit like Gerrard and Benayoun really.
