Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Oh, grow a set FFS.

Surely by now, nothing surprises you in football?

If you've got a bad taste in your mouth, then imagine what Barca fans must have been feeling like in 2000.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Fuck Owen, the King's back, and that's far more important.

Re: Liverpool Thread

to cheer us up:

Oh and The King would kick Owen all over the pitch for talent.

To be fair to him, he's out of the job, almost nobody in the premiership wanted to take a gamble on him, and then Alex called in. He took the chance, I just wish it wasn't MU though.

I don't give a fuck what Barca fans think, they got the money for their star, we got 0.

Re: Liverpool Thread

But that was more like us signing Torres off you guys. I doubt you'd care much about the money if that happened.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Comparing Bobby Charlton to Dalglish.

He'll probably have a similar role to what Bryan Robson has.

Guess you're right. It's not like a-shot-in-the-head kind, still I feel he's a .. (look at my avatar).

Anyway, the King will take time for the master plan to bear fruit, it's a revamp of the academy system so it takes once cycle until it actually shows some result.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Interesting, Gedo from RAWK has confirmed Owen did contact Carragher a number of times regarding speaking to Benitez and signing Owen.

Re: Liverpool Thread

22.04 Radamel Falcao has admitted that he could be about to play his last match for River Plate as speculation intensifies surrounding his future.

This coming after we've been linked with him ...

Nono. Since a long time ago, everybody knows that this is Falcao's last tournament. He only renew with River so that River can get money from his sell. Anyway, dont know why you are interesting in signing him, I can assure that he is a player like Baros, with an awful definition.

Re: Liverpool Thread

How can you make that comparison then, go on?

Incidently, that video was from the TalkSport magazine and not a Liverpool fan or website just so you know ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Both Back up strikers
both 29
both free transfers
both been the leading goalscorer in their respective leagues
both been relegated
I think there's enough there to be going on with.

Re: Liverpool Thread

LMAO at that video. Good stuff :D

Well you know what they say about gambling addictions, you get desperate, you sell your soul to the devil, you forget about those who loved you and you push everyone away from you and continue to dig yourself a very big hole.

Sounds familiar!

Re: Liverpool Thread

One is used to German football, one is used to English football.
One gets injured constantly, one can play a few games without his knee going.
One wants to come back to England and do well for Liverpool (club, not country), one wanted to go to Liverpool but had to make do with United instead.
One is on £130k a week, one is very likely to be on around 1/4 of that I'd reckon.

Yep, there's enough there as well ;)

Incidently, I'd rather we gave the youth a chance with the likes of Babel, Ngog, Nemeth ready to be backup strikers whilst also having Kuyt who is also to play up front.

It's okay though, NSH, keep trying to justify signing an ex-Liverpool player who you probably hated so much not long back ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Always hated Fowler a hell of a lot more than Owen, and as soon as he finds the net for us mate, all will be forgiven. I Wonder how many texts he's had off Carra and Stevie G this weekend?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Probably a few seeing as Owen was texting Carragher asking him to speak to Benitez about signing him.

Incidently, you mention Fowler. That there is someone who has said he'd never play for United, whilst also being an Everton supporter when younger and leaving the club but still holding us in high regard. Big difference between Owen and Fowler's morals there, and Fowler will stay a legend at our club wheras Owen has probably just killed off his hopes of being a legend in our eyes.

And it was great when Fowler played for Man City and celebrated scoring against you by holding up the fingers to show how many European cups Liverpool had won :D Proper red there, not mercenary Owen.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Rivalry aside, would you have liked him back?
and with only one leg, he's still gotta be better than porno flick Voronin.

Honest answer? Unsure. If it's true that he wanted £30k a week to come to us then I'd consider it. But again, I think I'd rather we gave our youth a chance and if not, then signed a younger, more potent striker like Villa.

We're being linked heavily with Negredo still and from what I've heard of him, I think I'd rather have him than Owen as well.

Owen will still score goals and he's probably a decent player still but taking into account his wages, his ethics and real lack of pace, I feel there's better options out there.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It's a weird one, On one hand, I can see him coming in and getting goals for us, and he's free! but on the other as Champions should we be making signings of this nature. It's possible the Benzema snub forced our hand, but there's still 2 months of the window open so Owen may not be the only striker we bring in.

Re: Liverpool Thread

The thing is, if you do sign another striker then that means you've got Rooney, Berbatov and Owen up front. If you bring in another striker who is a big name, then you can't keep all of those players happy and playing.

You've replaced Tevez with Owen, with Tevez complaining of lack of games. If you bring in ANOTHER striker, then will Owen even play. That's assuming you don't sell Berbatov though, which would free up a space ...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Spanish press are reporting we've upped our asking price for Alonso to €50m now. I do think Alonso will leave this summer, not sure about Masch though.

Negredo would only come in part of the Alonso move.
The thing is that Alonso is not going anywhere, wher Real Madrid offer 35m, Raffa asks 41m and when they finally offer 41m he asks 50m plus Negredo.
