Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Guess we don't need to buy anyone now. With Ronaldo off and maybe Tevez and even with 80/100mil in their pocket its still going to be very hard to replace. There aren't that many WC players knocking about to fill the void and they need to strenghten the midfield aswell.
:D

They'll still probably win the league. *tossers*

:(

Re: Liverpool Thread

6 euros? A definite bargain.

We might not be the threat we were next season but I wouldn't count your chickens yet. Chelsea could be very strong with Essien and J. Cole back for a full season, plus whoever they buy.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Haven't seen anything of Saviola really, I just know he was awesome at River Plate when I played Football Manager :D

Re: Liverpool Thread

He's crap to be honest. Ngog would be a better option. I think Silva should be your target (think he could be on our list now aswell)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Saviola was never really given a chance at Barcelona I don't think, and it's completely dented his confidence at subsequent clubs.

Re: Liverpool Thread

What do you think about Eto'o for Masche or Robben for Xabi?
I think that Xabi must stay, he is one of the best players of the world and the second or third best player of our team. But, I also know that this season Gerrard should play at the midfield with Xabi. So either buying Saviola or Eto'o would be really interesting

Re: Liverpool Thread

What are you one about?! Gerrard should play with Xavi in CM?! Nonsense! Let him roam and let masch and xavi dictate the rest.

I'm more worried by the rumour that Liverpool are gonna sign Glen for 17mil! Don't care how good he is, 17m for a rightback is ridiculous.

Xavi plays for Barcelona mate.

Plus, it wouldn't really be £17m it'd be £10m and we'd cancel what they owe us for Peter Crouch which they were paying in installments.

Johnson's a quality player and would be a great addition to our squad, don't get me wrong i'm a big fan of Arbeloa - i think he's one of our most consistent players, and one of the most underrated - but we have no cover at right back. Carragher's shite at full back (and looks increasingly dodgy at centre half tbh) and Degen would get injured playing with wool.

Interesting , I think that we need to improve our defense. It seems to me that Arbeloa and Fabio Aurelio are awful so, Jhonson + Emiliano Insua and we are great.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I obviously meant XaBi........I always spell that wrong :D

But its still 17mil.......just cause they still owe us money doesnt mean he get's any cheaper.

Dude Saviola is not crap. Trust me. I believe his talent is one of the best, but he is not playing anywhere near his potential. But calling him crap would be totally unfair.

Saviola is a player really dangerous around the box. He makes runs that just slice the defense, and his top-notch acceleration definitely helps him out with this. To put it simply, he's a sneaky bastard around the box and he can sniff out a goal like it was a pile of shit in the middle of a rose garden. He always seems to know where the goal and the goalie are, and this allows him to score from lots of unexpected positions. He is the perfect player to follow through passes with his speed, dangerous runs, and good finishing with 1 on 1's. He's also good on the ball. I mean he can make use of possesion even if he has very little space to move. You can see him cut multiple times inside the box to create a goal even though he has 2-3 players around him.

He just needs somebody to be patient with him instead of always keeping him on the bench. I think he would really ease Torres and the heavy markage that is always on him. His runs would create a lot of empty space for Torres, and I'm pretty sure he would be scoring his own very frequently.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm not sure if I'd be laughing my head off for ages if we bought him, or whether I'd simply be ecstatic at the fact we'd bought him.

It'll never happen either way of course.

Re: Liverpool Thread

The journalists are obviously running low and stories and are trying to make up ludicrous stories to try and sell papers

Re: Liverpool Thread

Which english newspaper do you recommend me to read about football ? Since Im from Argentina I read spanish newspaper such as Marca, Mercafutbol and in english I read The Sun but I find it quite poor when we are talking about football news.

Re: Liverpool Thread

They're all poor but The Guardian, Telegraph and to some extent The Times are the least likely to post utter rubbish.

you need to watch more games then.

Insua looked piss poor against West Brom and average against Hull, but in some games can look really good. Aurelio has been superb when he's played this year but still needs to prove that he can stay fit.

one for the bellends in the press who keep pushing their bollocks stories:

Liverpool Football Club has today released the following statement.
"Despite repeated media speculation on the futures of Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, Liverpool has received no official approach or offer from any club regarding the players.

"Neither is for sale and furthermore Liverpool has no interest in the long list of Spanish based players being linked with a move to Anfield as part of any deal."

I watch every single match of Liverpool, I also dont go to school when Liverpool play the Champions and I find our defense really bad. I dont understand why Agger doesnt play and I think that Fabio Aurelio has an excelente shoot but he is not a good defender, just revise the 4-4 with Arsenal.

yeh but tbf that was the only league game in which we conceded more than 2 goals and it was a crazy game. So you watched all 55 of our competitive games last season and you think Insua should be in ahead of Aurelio? Insua only made about 10 appearances and most were as a sub, he hasn't shown why he should be first choice at all, and the reserves were awful all season last year so that's no proof of his quality either.

I think Insua's gonna be a quality player, but he's not ready yet.

A Liverpool fan reading The Sun :TTTH:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hey I dont live in England. I dont know which newspapers are good and which are not, thats why I asked it before. I just read The Sun to practise my english.

it's nothing to do with which papers are good or not, it's about knowing your history about the club you claim to support ffs.

It's embarrassing to be honest, you should know this by now.

http://www.contrast.org/hillsborough/

you'll put that shite in your sig about Hicks and Gillett but I bet they know more about the history of the club than you do.

Re: Liverpool Thread

While UJ has probably been quite blunt and to the point, he's right. As a Liverpool fan, you really should know the history a bit more and understand why The Sun is frowned upon by Liverpool fans and Merseyside in general.
