Wouldn't Arsenal have challenged in 07/08 then? same for you lot in 01/02, Just think its a silly thing to say but I do think Liverpool can win the league next season but if we maintain our hunger I seriously think English football along with the rest of Europe may have to watch on for a few years
Ah well, I've enjoyed this season and it's been good to see us up there challenging at the end so I'm pretty pleased. I read somewhere that no team has won the Prem at the first attempt at challenging but the next season they won it, I think that's definately a possibilty for us.
Let's see what happens with transfers now. Rafa has got complete control now so there's a lot of pressure on him to make the right signings and shore up our squad so that we can cope more when the likes of Gerrard and Torres are injured (moreso Torres) and I'm looking forward to the transfer window now.
Interesting season really, and it should hopefully be a successful one next season

The Reds amassed their highest points total ever in the Premier League (86) beating the 82 set in 2005-06. It is our highest in the league since 1987-88.
The total of 86 points is more than we needed to clinch 12 of our 18 league titles (all seasons based on three points for a win).
We won 14 points against the other members of the ‘Big Four’. It was as many points as we had won against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United in the previous three seasons put together.

I think you know thats not true
IMO you were at your best for the last 3-4 months of the season. We've been in cruise control all season and havent played anywhere near as good as 07/08 let alone 06/07.

We did blow it. We gave the league away. Thats what gets me most. Stil a good job though, just need to learn to crush the so called smaller teams and we will walk it next year.

Yep, we blew it when we didn't have the confidence to attack the teams properly that we drew against. If we'd have played those games towards the end when our confidence was so good, we'd have easily won those games.

Play like you did at the end of the season and you might, but you can't keep that up all year. Especially if you stay in some of the cup competitions. Arsenal will be stronger and I expect Chelsea to buy well, too. I think next year could be anyones, but we'll still be the team to beat.

I think that's been the running point through this thread since Utd won the league. No matter how many times Liverpool fans take positives from our season and say we're pleased with the performance, VERY shortly after a Utd fan pops in to compare us to Utd and try to switch the attention over to Utd instead
