Class performance, I hope Ronaldo was watching, Madrid were utter shite all over the pitch Torres tore Cannavaro a new one within a minute. Gerrard had a good game except for that awful dive. Casillas was brilliant and probably saved it from being 5 or 6.

Bayern aren't all that, They have Ribery and not much more, you stop him you stop them. Currently 5th in the league and extremely inconsistent. I think the the teams to beat our the same 4 who were in last years semi's Liverpool, Chelsea, United and Barcelona. Still think its Barca who are the strongest with Messi.

At last this stupid fucking bastard is finally banned. We don't need fans like him being the almighty know it all, thinking Man Utd are better than everyone else. I think that in my mind but I have to be realistic and admit that there are teams out there that are capable of beating us, Liverpool and Inter to name a few.

Liverpool played well especially to out-class the once almighty Madrid 4-0 I feel Saturday will be a tight game but as History dictates you'll play utterly shite after a mid-week game.

It depends to see whether tomorrow's result will affect United's morale...

If we beat Inter.. I forsee a trip to either Bayern or Villarreal looming in the QFs

pressure is off in the United game IMO, the league is realisitcally over. We may well win every reamining game, although I can't see that but United arent going to lose 2 or 3 at the same time.

It is, Babel said in a dutch interview after the game that Benitez has told his players, after the boro match, it's now about finishing second.

Great montage, ala MotD, on Dutch tv last night. When signing off the presenter said; "Well they were looking really good in the warming up" to then finish the show with Real looking all serious and classy doing their warming up which kept being interspurst by Liverpool ripping them a new one in the match to finish it off with a close up of casillas looking lost. :D

Definitely.

Casillas reminds me of Shay Given. Giving his all for a team that falls apart in front of him, definitely proved last night that he is the worlds best goalkeeper.

Disagree, hes been crap all season, He makes way to many mistakes and gets caught out of position way to often .he might be good but nowhere near as good as he's made out to be.

I do think that the last 2 nights results in the champ league has highlighted how poor the Spanish and Italian leagues have become over the past couple of seasons.

Sure Inter, Juve, Barca and Real are top sides but if thats the best each league has to offer, then the other 18 sides in respective leagues must be shockingly poor.

On a given day, the majority of Premier league sides can give Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal a run for their money, compete or even win their fare share of matches.

However, it's not English football that's triumphed, it's English clubs. But I guess each fan of the four sides qualifying from England don't care for who's in the squad as a nationality as long as they're through.

I think Wenger summed it up perfectly... its not the level of football thats different between the top European clubs, its the amount of confidence and mentality that English clubs have at the moment. The fact that basically 3 of the 4 British clubs have so much financial pressure to qualify is a big boost. Once, say, Italian, Spanish or French clubs gain some confidence in the next few years, we will see different teams go through. I mean, it seems like boasting, but when Milan were still consistently in Europe, we were in the quarters/semis about 5 times in 5 years, 3 finals etc.

On a side note, don't rate Inter in Europe... its part of their history to be awful in it :LOL:

Its easy to have 4 teams in the CL when the clubs have rich owners that have tons of money at their disposal to have better players, better training camps and better tactical developers in their "lab", everything is easy when you have money. The thing is that while your clubs are sinking in debts, Barcelona, Real and Milan are able to create normal club ways to stabilize the economy and keep the clubs reputation intact, while yours seems an infinite hole yet, you keep seeing transfers in the EPL of >10M.
Hope Blatter/Platini can make something up for this complete failure that is footballs economy, where rich clubs are richer and poor, poorer. Something must be done and quickly, lots of clubs are already closed or on sale because there is not possible way to avoid the huge debt that they have.

I'm sorry but your comment is flawed.

Italy and Spain have dominated with spending power through the 80's and early 90's prior to English teams becoming an economic power.

It's certainly easier to go further in any competition with rescources but don't be deluded and prejudice against English teams wealth when Spanish, Italian and German sides clearly still have strong spending power and global fanbase.

Barcelona spent 90 million euros on this seasons squad. Real Madrid spent 41.5 million euros.

All the top european sides spent heavily in the last 12 months and the top 20 european clubs in the financial table, it's noticeable that the majority of the top 10 are in the champions league still.

i'm not going to join the "everbody hates english clubs conversation", as it's quite boring and silly.
besides i believe i already talked about this topic before in this forum so it would be pointless to repeat myself.

i'm here just to point out 1 simple thing.
deloitte researches can't be used to prove the real financial situation of football clubs as they usually make a lot of "tweaks" (they call them "adjustments") to the official balance sheets......... on which basis they make those "adjustments" is a mystery.... not just to me but to the whole financial community in europe.

let me just make a simple example; according to deloitte's results roma had revenues per almost 139 millions euros in the last financial year.....

well roma happens to be a company quoted on the italian stock exchange.... wich means that 120 days before the end of each financial year, the board must present the balance sheet for the audit.

according to roma's balance sheet 07/08, the company's revenue were 18.699.218..... about 110 millions less than what deloitte says...
now, roma's balance was subject to Consob (the italian SEC) audit, internal audit, and finally the UE commission audit system checks....

theese are the official balance data of AS roma company for the last financial year, as approved by the Consob. fact.

so how come deloitte's adjustments artifically changed those numbers so brutally?

... in our view??? what does that mean? balance sheets are official data, they can't be interpretated... there's no room for interpretation or "views"... it's all about numbers.

i believe deloitte jumped to those ridiculously wrong numbers by taking into account capital assetts, as if they were part of the financial data (wich is absolutely wrong)... in any case i can't be sure of that. this is just my assumption.

but one thing is for sure. saying that roma had revenues for 138.9 millions euros for the financial year 07/08 is simply wrong. hugely wrong.
and that's a fact u all can easily verify, as, being AS roma a quoted company, their balance sheets are public.

I think people want to see instant success and unless you've tried moving abroad, then you won't understand the problems that come in adjusting to a new language, culture and of course, football club. Give him time.

i actually think Dossena's looked promising in his last few games, but there'll always be that fickle bunch of idiots who will give him no credit because he looked poor in his first few games.

They're humans after all. Settling in is very normal and vital, and varies among people. Some take their time to settle while others have no issue at all. It surely has to do with his personality and past experiences. People who have been living in one place for so long surely should find it harder to settling in a new place than others, like me for example, who have been always on the move and don't mind being anywhere as long as I have a home and good food :P
