Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Can go either way really. Not sure what would have been better.

@ Ryan, I read the "our opponants not sent off" as in manu players don't get sent off for the same offence. Its very true for last season when Scholes tackled someone from behind and got a warning whilst Masch did it a couple of minutes later and got a card. Rooney can continue to say f#$k off whilst a couple of moans from Torres gets him a card after being fouled in the first place.

Also Bennett hadn't been allowed to ref a manu game for sometime till Fergie started whinging about it. Then the next week he get's Bennett against Liverpool with quite a few unbalanced decisions in that game. Masch should have just STFU so Im not talking about that one. But quite a few others that I easily remember.

Not really, I think it's a very clever move by Rafa. It's going to highlight Fergie to the FA and he wont be able to get away with any ref rants or approaching the ref for the rest of the season.

Thinking about it it's probably a poor decision. Fergie has been at it for years and always gets away with it so it doesnt matter how many facts you have it's pointless.

But it might stop players like Mikel getting sent off for "soft" challenges in the 1st half of the match at OT ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Fair play to Rafa for having a go, not many people 'stand up' to big bully Fergie, but like Ryan said he kinda ruined it for himself with the contradicting points and the hypocrisy regarding the fixture list! He prepared a flippin' dossier the other year when he wasn't keen on Liverpool's fixtures!

He seemed pretty wound up though which makes me think it wasn't mind games pure and simple. Don't see how it will affect the players though ahead of the Chelsea game, only difference it could make are ridiculous bans for United players who do the slightest thing wrong.... oh wait already had that for Evra.;)

Wound up? Rafa seemed very calm and composed, and the interview IMO was calculated and prepared.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Well I only read the thing on BBC Sport and they made it sound like he was wound up but having since read it on F365 it was calm and controlled but I suppose he must have been a bit pissed to have gone to all the trouble of preparing notes on it.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just watched the video of it on the BBC site and he was very calm, almost like he was reading out a list of charges against Fergie

Cracked me up when he was saying Fergie uses man-marking against the officials :LMAO:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Typical Fergie, winding up opposing managers. I supposed it has worked in the past in gaining a psychological edge, (e.g. with Keegan) so I'm not surprised to see him use it again. Only manager I can remember it failing badly with was Mourinho, who seemed to be one of the few who could go toe-to-toe with Fergie's mind games.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think Rafa should keep quite and start focusing on training his team ;) It only encourages Fergie.

Well I think all managers should, really.

Ferguson responds to Rafas claims..

Howcome you've removed United as your team. traitor!:TTTH:

Re: Liverpool Thread

 Rafa's list might become as infamous as Gallas's incident last season

"If Liverpool beat Stoke, Benitez will be delighted. If not, it will be portrayed as moment the manager lost the plot"

Re: Liverpool Thread

Playing against a team who are known to park the bus, play a tight defence and give VERY little away ... so we play one striker up front. Torres, right? No, Kuyt

Really inept performance against a team we should be beating ... again. Leaving Torres, Keane and Babel on the bench when we need creativity to break down a team is just a staggering decision.

Re: Liverpool Thread

i see rafa's little soliloquy inspired his team...

well done rafa...

oh and here's a quote from 2007:

"I would like to ask the Premier League why is it that Liverpool always play the most fixtures away from home in an early kick-off, following an international break?" he said. "We had more than the top clubs last season and we have four already to prepare for this season. It's going to be very difficult for us to win the Premier League because the other teams are so strong, but I want our supporters to know that despite the disadvantages we have, we will fight all the way.

"We will fight to cope with our more difficult kick-off times and all the other decisions which are going against us."

hipócrita!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hypocrite? Did you even watch the conference? He mentioned that himself when he said about Fergie complaining about his fixtures when we've hardly been handed cracking fixture times/dates in the past either.

Nice to know you've taken the time to dig up Rafa's old comments though, he must've really gotten under your skin for you to go on a hunt to prove him wrong

it was quality TV, pure comedy...

him taking the time to write things down and speak about SAF...

quality!!

but maybe he should have been working on todays game...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Crap game, crap performance. Although it was the same with manu playing them earlier in the season (0-1 near the end). With a bit more luck near the end, and it would have been luck because we didn't deserve to win anyway, we could have scraped it.

Dire tactics aswell, Lucas and Masch are too alike for these games, might aswell have had Gerrard drop back and have Keane and Kuyt together upfront.

Re: Liverpool Thread

He said:
"Then he was talking about the fixtures. Two years ago we were playing a lot of early kick-offs away on Saturdays when United were playing on Sundays. And we didn't say anything."

So he's either a hypocrite, very forgetful, or a liar.

maybe, but your manager is obviously distracted (yet again, tho at least this time its no one associated with the club)

and while he his concentrating on a team 30 miles away, his team fail to beat stoke city, again..

and im talking FAKHS, not my opinion...

maybe abit of all three....

his post match interview was the quality we have come to expect from rafa...

refusing to speak about yesterdays comments, maybe he's trying to pretend it didnt happen....

I posted earlier that at least he hadnt turned on someone at the club, but he did complain about his contract situation, but that hasnt been reported...

maybe that, was his masterplan...

I wonder how long he has been carrying that piece of paper around, waiting for a reporter to ask him about united...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just shows how important Xabi is. We can cope without Nando, even without Gerrard, but we always need Xabi.

Well United play 3 games before our game against Everton. We'll see how it stands then.

So the owners are actually right about not giving Barry's transfer the nod, as Alonso has been immense this season.
