Jovanovic is the best player Standard have, but has only come on the pitch now because his mind was at PSV who wanted to sign him.

PS I thought Liverpool was all about fair play...? They didn't give the ball back after Standard played it out for their player being injured...

I think it's because players like Mbakani are going down without being touched as soon as they lose the ball and Liverpool launch an attack. Ala Italy in Euro 2008 ;))

Yep, Liege played really well over the two legs and deserved to go through.

El Zhar should get a run out for the team, he's commited and he tries. Which is more than be said for most of the team.

We'll give them good games. We always play well against big teams but walk on the pitch against "smaller" teams and expect them to roll over :ROLL:

We've had that mentality for years. For years we've always struggled against teams we're expected to beat, yet we play well and win against the big teams.

Seriously though, we've been absolutely tripe these last few games. The only players to get any credit are Pepe and El Zhar. I'd think this is just our bad patch, but it's come right at the beginning of the new season. Torres is tired after the Euros, Keane has just joined, Gerrard has been injured, Babel, Lucas and Masch have been away. And Xabi's head is all screwed up, and we have no left winger. No excuses for our shite performance, but we can't do any worse than we're doing now. The fact that we're winning regularly after playing like this just gives me more confidence, that we have the killer instinct to win these matches (and a bit of luck of course).

With Gerrard back to full fitness, and Masch and Lucas back, and hopefully a new winger, I think we'll see our performances go up. They can't be any worse, so it can only get better. And I think we're pretty damn good when we are playing to our best.
