Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Wahayy!

I dont see how anyone could disagree, they were formidable and had the best blend of grit, fight, skill and pace of any team in the last twenty years. The only reason im uneasy playing your lot these days is the worry we wont turn up or you'll fluke something. Back then i WAS fearful of what that team could do to us.

so you dont remember the 3-0 demolition a couple of weeks ago...

Re: Liverpool Thread

United 1999 were the best United team of the last 20 years. You can't argue with the Treble.

If that 3-0 was a demolition, so was our 2-0 defeat of Inter at home. It wasn't, They were a man down and sat back.

You can argue because that 94 team was handicapped in Europe with the 3 foreigner rule. I'm pretty sure we'd have won a CL with that team if we didn't have to leave out players like Keane, Schmeichel, Irwin, Kanchelskis and Cantona.
Antred, you're also right about Europe being pretty weak now. I can remember being worried about more than 10 teams in Europe but now I just feel it's a matter of time before we win it again because it's becoming too predictable. You can only see about 6 teams winning it for the forseeable future.

I don't think Hick is so out of order w/ rants obivously gillett & rick are on the same page wanting to get rid of rafa and Hicks went to the media i imagine full of guilt no doubt he's bring rafa closer to him as an allie

Whatever Hicks has said about the Parry issue, he IS spot on. But the fact remains, that he's decided to all this in PUBLIC, with more dirty linen being washed in public in the last month or so, than in Liverpool history. And we all know that he's a liar, a fat one at that. And the whole PR stunt about waking up at 7, wearing the Liverpool shirt was quiet pathetic

However, at this present situation, I really think Hicks having 100% ownership is the best, at least for the short term. I, for one moment, don't think he really cares about the club.

There's one person at LFC that really cares about the club, and that's Rafa Benitez. But, Hicks does support Rafa, which Gillett doesn't, and DIC may/may not. And that's why I am slightly inclined towards having Hicks as owner. I don't think he's here for the long term. BUT, I think he will build the stadium, a pretty good one at that, and will do it quickly, so that in a few years, he could have almost tripled his investment, and sell at that moment. And he will provide funds to Rafa. Not the 50M to buy Kaka, but the usual 20-25M, which, accompanied with player sales, should be enough for Rafa to build the team that he wants in a couple more seasons. And keeping Rafa is VERY IMPORTANT. Letting Rafa go away, will set the club back for several years, because Rafa has a long term plan, and I honestly believe in that plan. And no other coach would be willing to come here, after seeing the treatment Rafa has gotten. And there will be no shortage of offers for Rafa. Madrid are pretty much waiting for an opportunity to snatch him up.

And at the same time, I don't really trust DIC either. They have been very clever with PR, and created plenty of stories to create an atmosphere of tension for Hicks. And what's to say their financing will be any different than of Hicks? It goes back to the same thing of, preferring a devil you know, than one you don't.

So at the present moment, the best I am hoping for is Hicks getting 100% ownership, with Parry going out, and brining some stability to the club. Stadium work starts, and Rafa gets his usual summer kitty to spend, and hopefully, by the time the stadium is build, we would have a title challenging team.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Good read, although it isn't clear who're the ones that supported Rafa in this case. DIC is rich enough to buy Liverpool and I think has more money than Abra, but whether they're going to spend as much in Liverpool as Abra on Chelsea .. only God knows that answer.

In another sinister plot, I think the ownership is just stirring things up so the players can't sit in their laurels and keeping them focused on the game, cause I say one L game will bring all the media bullsh*t out like earlier in the year, and ended up costing us the title.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Good performance, I think everybody had a good game. Pennant was awesome. Skrtel and Mascherano are just utterly fucking immense. And Lucas will be a star.

Job done, eight point ahead, and Gerrard and Torres wern't even used.

Bring on the plastic flag wavers!

Re: Liverpool Thread

And the away crowd were awesome. They were bouncing to Torres' name throughout the game :D

Re: Liverpool Thread

What happen to Hyppia? Rested or Injured?

Pennant played very well against relegation battlers .. and I thought Lucas was good.

"The fact of the matter is that if Liverpool were already out of the Champions League and needed to win to get fourth spot, they would play their strongest side.

Erm, yep? What does he want us to do? "Okay Neil, we're out of the CL and we need a win to get fourth spot. We'll play a weakened team just because we're playing a team threatened by relegation, okay?"

Neil Warnock is a fucking tit. We've got fourth place secured, we've got a VERY important game against Chelsea and he wants us to help the relegation-threatened teams by fielding a strong team against Fulham?! Maybe if the relegation-threatened teams weren't so poor then they wouldn't need other teams to help them.

We're not a bloody samaritan club, we look after ourselves. I suggest Neil Warnock does the same. Clown.

Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has defended his decision to field a weakened team in Tuesday's Carling Cup third round defeat by Reading.

The Blades lost 2-0 but Warnock says promotion is his priority this year.

He told BBC Sport: "Nothing is going to get in our way this time. I told the directors that earlier in the season.

"Injuries, suspensions and the extra games all add up in a cup run, which is why I hope Reading and Crystal Palace continue to do well in the League Cup."

The Blades reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup and League Cup under Warnock in 2003, but failed to escape from the Championship after finishing third in the table and losing in the play-offs.

And the Bramall Lane boss is determined his players are not distracted in similar fashion this time as he plots a return to the top-flight.
He advised his side's fans not to travel to Tuesday's game and rested most of his first-choice players.

Of the players that started the Championship game against Millwall on 18 October, only Leigh Bromby was in the side at the Madejski Stadium.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hyypia took a knock on his big finnish head, should be fine.

Masch picked up a knock, but should be fine.

Thought we should have had Plessis on the bench though.

Hopefully now we will see Nemeth, Insua, Plessis et co

Re: Liverpool Thread

They're not in the playoff's yet. But rest assured if they do get there, they'll have me supporting the opposition. As much as the bitter muppet hopes we don't win another trophy under Rafa, I never want to see that clown managing in the top flight again. What an absolute idiot!

Re: Liverpool Thread

I like Crystal Palace, but Warnock is an absolute Tit, thing is, he actually thinks he's one of these popular, 'people' managers like Redknapp, Strachan, Jewell etc.

He's not, he's a cunt

Re: Liverpool Thread

Warnock is a tit! Small time manager if I ever saw one

Liverpool the best! Liverpool 4ever!:redscarf:
Chelsea, MU, Arsenal get out=;! Liverpool's going:DD

Gotta love this guy! :D

Oh, I thought Voronin was ok today. Played better than Kuyt ever will....

Re: Liverpool Thread

LOL!

Oh yeah Voronin played like a f*cking d_____y (fill in the blanks) ... wonder why he is even playing :( Maybe Nemeth is a better gamble to play for in these games.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Im starting to like Voronin, but in the same way I liked Igor.............

They are both shit but its fun cheering them on when they actually manage to pass to a teammate :D

People are harsh on Voronin. He is distinctly average, but can be good on occassions. Had a great start to the season, then dropped into mediocrity, and got injured. Today he was good. Moved with the ball well.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Rafa says "We were this morning progressing in some issues and we will do the same. We have some signings for the next season done. They are senior players for the first team and young players for the first team and reserve team. Two of them are really close, young players, and one senior player is done. He talks good English, but is not English."

Re: Liverpool Thread

I didn't think much of Voronin, he just isn't good enough to lead the line. Neither is Kuyt but at least Kuyt runs his bollocks off.
