Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

And just for the record, what a nasty piece of work neville is,studs maxi in the head, and then celebrates like a demented yob at the final whistle, and this is the guy who is supposed to be setting examples to his team mates.:FAIL:

I agree with the rest of your post but not this bit. Neville wasn't trying to hurt Maxi, as I said before he went for the ball and won it cleanly. Maxi's head was low and he got caught with his back foot. There was no intent, just commitment and determination to win the ball. If it had've been say Insua on Park, or Johnson on Park (as actually happened) I'm pretty sure this would have been forgotten but because it's Gary Neville who every non United fan hates (which to a point I can understand), then it's blown up.

And surely if Gerrard showed half as much passion for his club as Neville did you'd be in a better position, no? Neville wears his heart on his sleeve and at the end of the day he's as big a United fan as anyone and doesn't care if he shows it. I don't see how you can disapprove of that when I'm pretty sure you'd condemn a player for showing no spirit for your team and playing like he doesn't care as long as he picks up his pay packet?!

PS: @ jumbo. I like your posts, but saying that Hansen is biased is from the same order as all those Liverpool fans who are now moaning about Webb. Hansen used to be a Liverpool player, but now he is a pundit...i guess he's professional enough not to be biased in favour of Liverpool...

I appreciate that mate, it's just the way the post I responded to implied Alan Hansen's opinion on a penalty given against Liverpool was the definitive verdict, when quite frankly it's just as valuable as any of ours.

Re: Liverpool Thread

neville is a troll he walked away like that`s my style..no are you alright m8 some sort of gesture ...a alley rat.simples

and most utd fans love `em more for it ! sussed. Neville is boring that`s why Ramsey went to Arsenal the smell of a rat chased him off ..saf sent a rat to greet ramsey

Re: Liverpool Thread

I wouldnt care if there were 10 penalties in a game,a fouls a foul and should be punished, dont worry you would never see that many in a game, because it would send a clear message to the players and the managers would have to support it. i thought to myself years ago "why are players holding/pulling/pushing in the box going unpunished?" a rule is a rule.
and as for diving its cheating and therfore should result in a straight red card followed by a 5 match ban,and if the ref misses it and the dive is later proved then the ban is still enforced.this would stop it almost overnight,i think.

I agree with this, diving should be severely punished and this rule that if a referee spots something but doesn't punish a player he can't be retrospectively punished needs scrapping.

The problem with severely punishing divers is look what happened over Walcott last year, UEFA actually had the balls to do something for a change and then were proven to be hypocrites when they let others go unpunished, plus there's Platini who says he used to dive and actively encourages players to do it, then Blatter said something similar about it being part of the game.

If the Premier League decided to punish cheating properly it'd mean that Drogba, Gerrard, Rooney, Young, Walcott etc. would have to be made examples of, and they're too high-profile for that to happen, the press and publicists would put a stop to it.

The game is rotten right to the core.

OK Jumbo, you argue a fair point, and when you turn it round you're right, but i would like to see that incident again.

Edit-tried finding some refrence to the incident, but its like it never happened! The Old Trafford matrix has erased it! :CONFUSE:

2nd edit Well i found a vid of it on lfctv and i am sorry jumbo but we will have to agree to disagree, the way neville brings his heel down he knows exactly what he's doing even though he makes the point of looking away at the time, he has anticipated where maxi's head is. see for yourself

Yeah but surely they would only do it once, because it wouldnt any longer be viable, the clubs would have too much to lose, fuck the media there partly to blame for putting the game in this state.the associations need to show who's boss, but like you say it will most probably never happen, not while palms are being greased.

About the bold bit in your quote, this is the reason i used to love playing computer footie because there wasnt any obvious cheating, but now we've even got diving in that! ffs :P

Re: Liverpool Thread

Tbh looking at the clip I can understand the pen being given, and I can't see much wrong with Neville's challenge.

Look what happened with Walcott though, they had this big publicity stunt by UEFA, they were "cleaning up the game" and a week later they backed out of it realising that they'd have to do the same thing every week, and some Real Madrid players would have to be punished, and we can't have that now can we?

Re: Liverpool Thread

It was Eduardo mate, not Walcott.

Buzzy - agree with tik. Still don't see much wrong with it.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah, having finally seen it, looks much ado about nothing. If Nev wanted to hurt him he'd of brought his studs down, not kept his leg straight. Nothing wrong with that. Kind of sad to make it a 'key moment'.

err...never tried to make it anything about a key moment! i was just questioning his intent, neville could be the dirtiest player ever, but that incident wouldnt have changed the result on sunday.

@ uj

yeah point taken it sucks!

Re: Liverpool Thread

I don't he means you're trying to make it a keymoment. It's just the video refers to it as a key moment.

Oh i see tik, thanks for clearing that up. Apologies :))

edit- and yes i agree not a key moment at all.

Liverpol team:

25 Reina
02 Johnson
05 Agger
22 Insua
23 Carragher
08 Gerrard
17 Maxi
20 Mascherano
09 Torres
18 Kuyt

& Babel.........:D

As long as Gerrard plays mroe upfield it's decent enough. Would rather have had Aquilani instead of Kuyt but if we are playing two upfront it should be ok.

Maxi, Kuyt and Babel playing all together ? Lucas on the bench ? What the fuck is that team ?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Maxi has been brilliant, really growing into the team day by day.

Should be 5-0 up by now :(

Make that 6, Agger just missed a sitter from a stevie g freekick

Re: Liverpool Thread

You're obsessed mate, it's pathetic.

Lucas didn't play yesterday and yet you still take the opportunity to have a go at him. You really should be an Evertonian. In fact Aquilani came off the bench and looked pretty poor imo. But unlike you i'm not judging him based on that, it's gonna be difficult for him to show his true form at the minute, but as long as the team is playing well and getting results i'm not arsed about individual players.

If Lucas plays and plays well (like he has many many times this season) i'm not going to complain simply because i like Aquilani. That'd be pathetic.

Re: Liverpool Thread

You know what? I agree with Andy Gray ( I know) that when you play the 13-14 team in the league you should line up similar to how you did on Sunday with Gerrard and Masch in the middle, the way Gerrard brought the ball forward from that position created so much space for Torres, Babel and co.

4-4-2 should be good enough for most of those sides yet you persist on going 4-5-1/4-3-3 which is best suited for the better/CL sides.
