Yes my friend, but there are also rumours that Man Utd are after Varane...i hope he goes to Lille, but i'm afraid he will prefer Man Utd (and who wouldn't?).

Sochaux, not sure why but I took an affection to them some years ago, I always would use them if I was playing PES and going a French team and always tried to get them as my team as a Create a Legend mode. Also Footy Manager had me go Sochaux manager too.

I think they have won back to back promotions.
I've played them in FM and they were a very tough nut to crack...another Arles-Avignon or a really good team?

It's a very correct club, out OM in Coupe de France, with players like Bertrand Laquait, Claudio Caçapa, Cedric Barbosa, Olivier Sorlin etc... with Bernard Casoni for coach (Ex OM)

Arles-Avignon do big error, buy alot of players and don't keep the coach and club structure.

Yesterday Le Mans almost in Ligue 1 (lead 0-2) in Vannes and finally lose 4-3 and now need a miracle on the last day for go to Ligue 1, too bad for this club wih new Stadium (MMArena). Dijon and Ajaccio probably follow Evian.

Fatastic that Lille wins, i'm very glad (thinking about somebody who was a regular poster here and had a blog, gib, he was also a Lille fan).
I used to watch Lille's home games when i lived in Gent...

What a crazy relegation battle...since playing FM manager, i really like Montpellier. I hope they can stay up just as well as Valenciennes another one of my favourite teams.

Shame that the team with the best fans of the league has to go down (Lens).

I really don't understand why Coupet is not in that list.
I have nothing against Barthez, except that he is not a good goalkeeper.

If i had to choose from that short list, i would go for Lloris wich is the only decent one: Lama and Batts were also far from great keepers.

I agree that Juninho should be in the team and i would also add Essien and Ginola.

Lama has the record of invincibility with the French NT:
799 minutes, almost 9 matches.
and he is with Barthez (OM 1993) the only Gk winning an european cup with a french team (Paris SG 1996).
So I think that he deserves to be in this list as Barthez does.

As for this season, I didn't see too many games but was Reveillere really the best right-back in the league!?

He was a very poor GK, but he deserves to be in that list because in the last 30 years i can remember only one good French GK: Coupet.

Lloris could turn out to be a very good one.

I follow football for roughly 40 years and France must be the only big football nation that never had a world class gk.

England: Banks
Spain: Casillas and the guy who played for Barcelona (forgot his name)
Italy: Zenga, Zoff, Buffon
Belgium: Preudhomme, Piot (currently Courtois, he will be the best in the world soon)
Germany: Maier; Schumacher (i hate him but he was world class), Neuer
Holland: Van Der Sar, Van Breukelen
Denmark: Schmeichel
Wales: Southall
Northern-Ireland: Pat Jennings
Russia: Yashin, Dassaev

I can't see a single French GK who is in the same league as all these players

Nah he wasn't the best imo. Debuchy for me has been better, maybe even Fanni at Marseille. But it's been a slow year for full backs.
