Grand Theft Auto VI [Coming Nov 19 2026] News & Discussion

1:
There is nothing wrong with pre-orders and if you don't like pre-ordering or pre-loading that is completely your choice.
When there is games I know I am going to buy then I do pre-order them as you can pre-load, which is a good IMO when some games like BF are about 80GB these days.
How many people would be annoyed if they had to wait till midnight to purchase GTA 6 and then the PS servers become massively overloaded and no one can play the game for hours, when pre-ordering and pre-loading solves this issue.

Also physical media is a dinosaur and shouldn't exist anymore.
The last game I bought physical media it took way too long to install on the console from the disc, I could of downloaded it 10 times quicker.
Physical discs no longer hold enough data for modern games.

The issue isn't with physical media, the problem is with Sony for removing games from their servers and the recent losing licenses for movies so people lost movies they purchase through their store.
This is the problem, actual digital games aren't.

2:
Not really much of a problem IMO, this isn't new and has been part of gaming now for 15 years.
Selling Standard, Deluxe, Extreme editions of games with different content is normal.

3:
Apart from the Sim City back 15 years ago, I can't think of any single player games which require online only.
But then I am always online so this is something I probably never noticed with other games.

+ As for CyberLeeks sounds like the real reason for these leaks is to make money out of their Crypto.
$1.23 billion in fact..

Hi Everyone,
If you would like to vote on our next leak, then please buy our Crypto currency and vote.
We will continue to make the leaks, as we are currently $1.23 billion dollars richer and you mugs are lining our coffers perfectly.
If you continue to push our Crypto the value will only ever go up and our aim is to make sure we reach our goal of $3 billion by the end of next week.
We really are trying to support the community and nothing we do is for greed and financial gain.
Regards,
CyberLeeks.
The actual PROBLEM is that people like you don't see problem in any of that!!

Personally, physical media is an absolute relic.
But then being a PC gamer digital distribution has been the norm since 2004, not 2026..

Again Day DLC for Deluxe editions is again the accepted norm, although I do disagree with this.
But then people are happy to pay for extra skins in a game - So let them.

Name a single player game, you can't play without being online?

I don't mind people trying to start campaigns to try and get answers.
But blatantly doing leaks to make a profit is not one of them.

There are pros and cons and I’m on neither side; just try to inform myself and build an opinion.

Saying that, I just asked AI real quick…

“Single-Player Games Requiring Online Connections
Yes, plenty of purely single-player games strictly require an internet connection or regular online check-ins.

1. "Always-Online" Single-Player Games

  • Hitman 3 / World of Assassination: While playable offline, all progression, item unlocks, gear customization, and level scores are hard-locked behind an active server connection.
  • Diablo IV (Solo Play): The campaign and solo content run entirely on a live server instance; you cannot launch the game offline.
  • Payday 3 / Redfall: Force online matchmaking servers even when playing completely solo with AI companions.
2. Third-Party Launcher & DRM Restrictions

  • Rockstar Titles (GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2): Launching via the Rockstar Games Launcher requires an active internet connection to authenticate your license every few days.
  • EA & Ubisoft Titles: Single-player games bound to EA App or Ubisoft Connect often fail to boot offline if the client hasn't "phoned home" recently.
  • Denuvo Anti-Tamper DRM: Games using Denuvo (e.g., Street Fighter 6, Total War) work offline initially, but require periodic online validation checks (or checks after GPU driver updates). If you stay offline too long (like on a long trip with a Steam Deck), the offline token expires and the game won't open.”

If you have a Ubisoft+ sub you must be online at all times, guess it's to stop you sharing your account, many Ubisoft games (such as Assassin's Creed) are 100% singleplayer so there's really no reason you should be forced to be online.

Name a single player game, you can't play without being online?
The Crew
They shut down their servers, meaning that no one could play the game anymore. Ubisoft could have allowed their players to continue playing the game even after shutting down their servers, but they didn't. This is what happens when someone rents a licence from the publisher by purchasing and downloading the game online: the publisher can revoke it at any time and switch off the servers whenever they want. Those who bought the game were made fools of. Money gone, game gone. Do you see the problem here, mate?

I may not agree with leaks and stuff, but I absolutely agree with most of their points.

You totally missed the point. But I'm too tired to give you a lecture on politics ATM... Maybe another time. Quick one: I'm also a PC gamer. So what? You think every part of the globe has fiber optic internet with super fast download speeds? So digital is the norm for you (and for me, I've no problem in admitting that), but what about other people...?

But then people are happy to pay for extra skins in a game - So let them
No. Because when Rockstar "gets away" with it, so do every other company in the future, which makes things constantly worse for everyone, as the leaker said, even more anti-consumerism practices.

But blatantly doing leaks to make a profit is not one of them.
Where in the blazes did you found he actually made "billions" in crypto?! "Trust me bro"? You can download all the leaks and the map and don't spend a single dime. Same way you say it's a "consumer's choice" to buy DLC, it's even more of a choice to not send any money to the leaker...

One can argue he's tryin' to raise awareness on predatory business practices by game devs (Rockstar, in this particular case)... If you didn't get that, then again, you totally missed the point.

Name a single player game, you can't play without being online?
Jesus fckn' Christ man, you can't be serious... you really asking that?!? Literally every single-player game that has the DeNuvo cancer can't be played offline! Black Myth Wukong is the first one that comes to mind... Crimson Desert. Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. I can make a LIST of dozens if you want (with only recent games, mind you... If you want a list of games since when DRM's - namely DeNuvo - were first implemented, that would probably be in the hundreds).

Sadly, publishers are each day more abusive towards their consumers, and the worst part is that they are getting away flawlessly with it. Besides, when the state of a game is questioned and criticized as incomplete or poorly rushed, or straight garbage at release, they are posting some goofy jpeg PR statement like nothing happened, where generally consumers are treated like morons.

Besides all that particular circus, there are too many restrictions just for abussive controlling purposes: accept their extensive legal statements before you boot their product (that nobody reads), sharing of your data, internal permissions, DRMs that can drastically reduce product's performance, online connectivity "checks" regarding single player products, and so on. Those parts alone are important enough and should to be verified again by legislators. I understand that nowadays Internet is a thing, but more transparency and common sense needs to coexist in the digital space, because especially "offline" single player games shouldn't be affected as much by this bullshit. Not to mention that having content locked behind a "premium version" paywall is insulting enough knowing that you already purchase the right to enjoy a full experience (speaking in general). At this rate, what can we expect in the future? Bombarded by ads after every few minutes if you have a "standard" edition? or when you press start, a ticking timer will be shown on screen making sure that you should buy some extra time vía bitcoins or virtual currencies?

Then there is piracy, hacking groups growing day by day, and so on that in the end are part of consequences fueled by greed and execs. decissions. With everything in our life being so conveniently "always digitally connected", stealing data, leaks, cyber frauds and scams are at their peak in a golden age, and I blame just people's own hipocrisy for accepting that because this affects also work and social life around us. Nowadays we have commodity, AI, and instant access on doing stuff, but always there is a catch and something in exchage will be paid not in full, but double...

I am not planning on getting this game on release, but holy sh*t, im really impressed watching the leaks of how this game is turning out. Really impressed by the sheer size and detail of the city. They really did well capturing Miami and surroundings.

Footage looks really good, the only thing that seemed a bit off to me was how the playable characters were animated when in a firefight, their movement lacked urgency to fit the situation.
But a beautiful game, although GTA has never been my jam I'll likely check it out down the line.

Yeah, extended trailer was awesome... Almost 30 minutes! 🤯

But yeah, some of the movement looks a little awkward... I thought Jayson lip-syncing and his voice was a little off at times (but then again, nit-picker here).

Wonder if that couple dynamic will work between the protagonists... I hope so. Will most definitely get the game down the line, especially when it comes out on PC (whenever that happens).

All captured on a base PS5 as well. These people know their stuff.

Prefab Sprout montage was sick, going to be some great music in this

You are not wrong. It was very off on both of the main characters but fine with most of the side characters. Weird!

The "extended look" wasn't anything surprising to me. It is going to be Red Dead 2 but in GTA universe which is perfectly fine for my personal tastes. I liked the slower movement and way RDR2 immerses you in the world.

There was definitely a weird frame rate issue here and there too.

Interested to see what I can do within the city, the trailer seemed to show that we can rob 7/11s all over the place? Thatll be fun. Also was interested in those icons at the top right. Almost like your wanted level or something is affected by your car, clothes etc??

I have a PS5 Pro and I will likely buy it for both PS5 and PC (when its out).

Only watched about 3/4 minutes of it and flicked through it, as don't want to know much about the game till I actually play it.

It looks decent enough, doesn't look any better than Spiderman 2.
Shadows and reflections look pretty nasty - Hopefully these are improved on the PS5 Pro.

TBH I am just hoping it has the same level of detail in the side missions as RDR 2, as this is what made the game for me.
Yes the story was still very good, but some of the side missions and random encounters were better than the story.

yeah, gameranx did some "dive" on it... I guess it's what "police knows", so your car, your face, your clothes and your accomplices. So I'm guessing once you "lose the tail", you have to ditch the car, remove the facemask, switch clothes, and split up from your companion. In theory, it sounds awesome... I guess if it works better than the (poor) Red Dead 2 wanted system, it's already a win.

That's indeed insane, but it doesn't come as a surprise. I guess if it was on a Pro, they'd say it... Remember that both GTA V and RDR 2 came at the end of console generations (7th and 8th, respectively) and pushed those consoles (Ps3/Xbox360 and Ps4/Xbox One, again respectively) to the limit.

30fps… 🥱

Wasn’t surprised or hyped. Looks ok.
Welp, guess someone didn't check Crimson Desert's A.I. slop performance on a base Ps5

RDR2 has a very good mod called Real Crime or something like that that completely changes the way being 'Wanted' works as makes it realistic and really adds a lot to the game.
But even out the box the wanted system isn't that bad, you have to be reported to be wanted and Law men have to see you, it isn't that bad.

Even after now 25 years, Mafia has the best law and wanted system of any game.
I can't believe it was released in 2002 and still hasn't been matched.
Even the crappy remake massively simplified it all.

Problem is, even if you commit a crime out in the middle of nowhere there's always be a witness to report it, and then you silence this witness, there's a witness to this silencing, and so it goes... The game is not designed at all for you to commit felonies. And I don't mind that at all, it's still one of the best games I've ever played, if not THE best.

And I couldn't agree more about 2002 Mafia. That game was ground breaking... And remember that cars had a fueling system. Something Rockstar is only implementing like, TODAY (with GTA 6).
