There is nothing wrong with pre-orders and if you don't like pre-ordering or pre-loading that is completely your choice.
When there is games I know I am going to buy then I do pre-order them as you can pre-load, which is a good IMO when some games like BF are about 80GB these days.
How many people would be annoyed if they had to wait till midnight to purchase GTA 6 and then the PS servers become massively overloaded and no one can play the game for hours, when pre-ordering and pre-loading solves this issue.
Also physical media is a dinosaur and shouldn't exist anymore.
The last game I bought physical media it took way too long to install on the console from the disc, I could of downloaded it 10 times quicker.
Physical discs no longer hold enough data for modern games.
The issue isn't with physical media, the problem is with Sony for removing games from their servers and the recent losing licenses for movies so people lost movies they purchase through their store.
This is the problem, actual digital games aren't.

Not really much of a problem IMO, this isn't new and has been part of gaming now for 15 years.
Selling Standard, Deluxe, Extreme editions of games with different content is normal.

Apart from the Sim City back 15 years ago, I can't think of any single player games which require online only.
But then I am always online so this is something I probably never noticed with other games.
