[General Discussion] What have you been playing this week?

Not sure if i want to dive in to a massive open world game straight away, but have been tempted to go AC Odyssey, i know it got a mixed review mainly because it wasn't a "AC" game, but recent YT videos I've watched is really positive if you treat it like a non AC game and more of a action RPG .

AC is a pretty good action game, I played half of odyssey but didint finish bc it requires quite a time commitment (I had finished AC origins which I really enjoyed and was burnt out by open world games... I actually think I still am). But froma. gameplay perspective both games are pretty enjoyable, they still look great.

Wrapping up the main story for Witcher 3

Just a main story?? Man, you need to do both DLC's.
Hearts of Stone first, coz it's short, but a really good story.
And then Blood and Wine, coz it gives you access to entirely new area, looking kinda like France/Italy.
The ending of Blood and Wine is a beautiful wrap up of the entire story.
It will probably depend on what ending you got during main campaign, but my ending was truly beautiful and satisfying.

(I'm back to DayZ. My favourite masochistic pleasure)

Haha, I love Dayz, but I only played it when it was 1st created just as a mod for Arma 2. As I like the Arma games. It was so fun, there was like 3-4 of us as a group trying to survive and like 100 people on one massive map server. Felt so tense nearly always as the risk and reward was there every second and one mistake and all your loot and the time and sacrifices it took to get it was gone. I haven't even played the standalone.

Ah you should. It's deadly. Especially if you still can get couple of people together.
One of the recent updates introduced spawn "windows", which basically means that within 5mins everybody spawn in point A, then it switches to another spawn point for 5 mins and so on.
Which means that if you are starting fresh with some friends - if you jump in at the same time - there's a big chance of starting together in the same place.
I haven't had adventures that I had in DayZ on any other game.
And that's on console, without any mods.

Going to play those as well, feeling a bit fatigued from playing almost 90 hrs in not that long of a time.
aah, DayZ, the game that keeps punishing you 24/7
Got to get back in to that as well

Yes feels massive, and coming from the Witcher 3 which also is a massive game, might hold off a while on it
But nice to know its a good game, i had started it a few years back

I played the very first AC when it came out, but got bored after a few hours. Ignored the whole series then.
Then I started AC Odyssey a few months ago just out of boredom with the expectation of probably not playing it for more than half an hour. Now I'm almost 130 hours in and still loving it. The setting is just perfect and coming back from time to time feels almost like holiday now.
Started with AC Valhalla last week but it feels nowhere as good as Odyssey.

Nice to hear ,I'm looking fw to my play through as well
Got a bad review for very weird reasons.

How did you get pass horrible dodge mechanics?
Dodge slows time so much that it feels like some really cheap cartoon where you are slashing everyone around you in real time while they are all in slo-mo.
I loved AC Origins and was coming over to Odyssey thinking I'm gonna love it even more, coz I prefer Greek mythology. But I just couldn't play it. Combat with this slo-mo was absolutely horrible

Well, nowadays I suck at games and so I find it more helpful than annoying. :LMAO:
I really became a casual player by the time and (other than you for example) I don't need to much challenges to relax with games. And to be honest, with the right difficulty I find it hard enough when lots of enemies are around. So I'm totally fine with it.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. AC games are long enough without any need of being challenging.
I played them all on Easy Difficulty, coz I didn't want to get stuck on some boss for any long period of time, since the game's main story is 100hrs alone..

So I'm as casual as you. This mechanics was just fucking annoying and a horrible eye sore when fighting. Reminded me Japanese cartoons where superhero attacks with speed of light and teleports from enemy to enemy.

There was nothing like this in Origins, or Valhalla.

As I said, I didn't play AC since the very first on PS3, so I didn't compare it to former titles. It was just a gameplay mechanic and I didn't even think about it till you mentioned it.
Like in our football games, it's all about what one can personally accept, I guess.

Finished Astrobot a while ago, excellent game, will be going back in for the Platinum and the speed challenges.
Started playing RESI 4 Remake, it was either that or Silent Hill 2 for the Spooky season. It's very good, but even with control updates, stuff like context sensitive dodging still feels dated. At least they got rid of the QTE's (allthough... I soppose the "o to dodge" command which can appear on screen in boss fights is a QTE.). It's still quite cheesy at times but I almost miss the often dreadful dialogue of the original.

City Skylines 2, Red Dead Redemption 1 on PC and I bought MS game pass for PC to try the COD Black Ops 6. This is such a crap of trash. Sometimes you think, someone woke you up at 01:00 o'clock at night and you have to drink 20 litre of strong coffee in a minute. So you are close to a heart attack.
I'm defenitley to old motherfakka for such an experience.

:CALM:

I'm off to bang Jutta in Harviken, so I guess I'm playing The Witcher 3 still.
This game is huge, I'm a level 37 and haven't really progressed the main story that fast, had the big battle at Kaer moren, but all those question marks needs ticking off, especially in skellige, where the map is full, so I'm doing that instead of progressing the main story.

Amazing game this.
One great detail is all the different accents depending where you are, really a nice touch.
Plus a big up for all the Swedish names (which can be funny at times) in the skellige Isles.

Finished The Witcher 3 (not the DLC's) and suffering from post game depression, but ive started fiddling with AC Odyssey a bit and so far I'm really enjoying it, especially the stealth which i missed in The Witcher.
Besides that, 2k19 (the last good one)

Leveled a character for this season in Diablo 4.

While I waited for MSFS, I tried X-plane 12. Completely blown away how much I'm enjoying it with some quality aircraft. Now will have to compare with msfs24 to see which one takes up my time

Been playing AC Odyssey for about 15-20 hrs now and its starting to click for me and i really like it, yeah some stuff could be better but love the fact that i can take my time knocking out enemies just by sneaking up on them etc.
And mind you, its my first AC game so i dont have much else to compare it too, which i think is a good thing

It's not a bad game but it's not an AC one. It's a Ubi attempt to create a Witcher 3 game but it's full of bloat. I've started playing AC Mirage and as a fan of the early AC games I think it's their best new one. Simple gameplay focused on stealth, quite linear and with clear quests.

Ohh this has my interest. I read that its short (positive for me, less bloated), and linear yes please
Will def look for a good price

I came straight from 200+ hrs of Witcher 3 and have no reference with AC before, and this game is really a gem for me
