Think ill wait for the reviews to see what they say. I think, graphicswise, one of the main problems is having races on tracks. F1 on the ps3 looked ok, but thats probably mostly to do with it being a track, grass, hordings and some trees, backgrounds, buildings. There really isnt much in the tracks that would make me go, woooow. Not like pgr3, which has all the cities in it which you roar by. In real life these tracks dont look special either do they? Look at all the standard f1 tracks, they are all boring with very little going on. Its only monaco, and spa francochamp that really has anything other then the track. If they get the physics down, and especially the AI i think it could be really good. Its probably a game you need to play fully (sim and full options availeble) to be able to enjoy its merits. I never bothered with arcade mode in gt either as i thought it was crap, maybe its the same for this (with a few negative comments coming after the arcade mode demo). Hopefully anyway.

tik good post mate. I think this game will be awesome with all the assists turned off and full damage on :) I personally cant wait for this and im not even looking at Gran Turismo 5.

The way I see it, it's like if Forza 2 was released on PS2. It could have the best physics in the world and be a really good game but honestly, if it had last-gen graphics, it WOULD get to you after a while.

I recently moved the PS2 from the family room into my room, because I wanted to play the past GTAs (which I used to love, but never finished). Five minutes into GTA San Andreas I was thinking "I just can't get into this, it looks fucking awful, blurry faces and jaggies everywhere". Which I know is a terrible thing to say but it's true. It really puts you off, when you've got used to seeing everything in pin-sharp clarity.

Gameplay is paramount, of course, but if the game looks utterly average then you're going to be disappointed, surely, when we've been in next-gen territory now for a year or two.

Agree, amazing graphics should be a given on the 360, and you would certainly expect a hyped game to be better looking than a 2 year old game(PGR). What sets a good game and an excellent game apart should only come down to gameplay. All 360 games should have excellent visuals, especialy microsoft backed ones, it looks like however they have concentrated too much on the gameplay and let the graphics suffer. Too cartoony, reminds me of sega's Daytona, but with shinier cars!

I will try the full version though, to test the proper mode. But at the moment you cant beat PGR3 in cockpit view.

ps try xbox san andreas on your 360 Jack, its much better

listen to the man. i like it, i really do.

i think it is just by far the most realistic racing game i played on a console so far, this is miles ahead of gran turismo judging only the physics part. check out the telemtry tool with the d-pad, it's amazing to see all the little detail simulated in a very very realistic way - from revs to tire usage, temperature, spring / shock / damper rate, everything is there and can be fully checked out. you can completely analzye were you lost time etc. in replays, it's just fantastic.

about the graphics: for me the realism counts, and this game is not getting over the top with it like for example the graphic "bombs" like gt 5 or dirt: i still think this looks more realistic than both i listed, even if not as detailled or more jeggy-edged. i like the graphics style, i think the car modelling is absolutely spot on (realistic, great reflections, and don't forget the incredible amount of customizing in the finale game) and the tracks look just as in real life - you can't expect them to put more detail in as there is in reality.

oh and about the graphics: all the time i personally can remember there have allways been the highend graphics racing games, but they never had that really realistic touch. i'd choose a worse looking but way better driving game over the opposite any day - that's just why i am still playing nascar racing 2003 or grand prix legends, yeah i could have nascar 07 by ea or any other game, but the driving model just isn't up to the standard of the "real" sims. :)

^ Top post. I think too many people are graphics lovers who dont look beyond that. GT is diabolical compared to even Forza 1! Like you said its all about the physics. I cant see how people can say Forza 2's demo is shit.

Just watched an HD video comparison of Forza 1 and Forza 2. I think some people are a bit harsh on the graphics. Don't think theyre that bad, and when you're driving at such speed you dont notice the environment as much on the sides, only in front of you.

It's hard to understand what people were expecting from this, from what I have played, it does exactly what is says on the tin.......... it's a driving sim............ graphically I dont think it deserves all the stuff coming its way atm, there is more cars in this game than PGR, but it's also such a different game to PGR. If you dont want to learn the braking points, and tweaking things with your car, this is not the game for you. This game will need to be learnt, PGR is immediate, though you learn more as you play. Forza you will need a couple of hours to learn things.

i wrote it in a hurry and still quite angry after my team's loss today, i could go more into detail and explain and compare everything a bit more but i think most will get my point.

I've been playing it a bit more and the AI is fabulous, I'm getting blocked off more and more and it's really frustrating (but brilliant). They know when to let you pass (because you're going too fast and have to brake anyway, letting them overtake you again) and when to block you.

The gameplay is really, really good, and it's definitely the best racing game I've played so far, full-stop. And how good of them was it to include so many cars in the demo?!

It's just such a shame about all those jaggies...

True Jack I agree with you about the GFX and next gen was supposed to eliminate all that kinda stuff but when the actual core gameplay is as good as it is then I tend to ignore it...

Same as FIFA 08, wouldnt be bothered so much about the plastic waxy players so long as the gameplay was king.

As for PES its just utter shit unless you play it online against honest players.

I think the crash damage is actually pretty good as well, I hit a wall and the crunching noise was horribly realistic! It looks really good, I just hope they release some kind of anti-aliasing patch for those damn jaggies... I don't mind them so much, but when they're on the back of your car and you can see them glistening and jagging when you turn a corner, it gets really irritating...

not sure why people love PGR so much. It's good but it is not great! the A.I sucks in some parts, the first corner on most tracks is a joke as the CPU cars just start bashing. I think Forza 2 demo is good stuff and look forward too the full release.

weOPM i feel you pain..

Glad to read what i was expecting now that you lot have had some more time with it. The AI is what makes most racing boring imo, just drones that dont have any personality or adjust to how you are driving, great to hear what they (team10) were saying in the pitpass is true :D.

Can't stop playing it now that I've got used to it, and with the hood-cam as well (which I have never, ever, ever used before in any racing game - there's something about the way the camera slides across when you turn that just makes it perfect, very hard to explain but you almost feel like it's real).

The AI is astounding, there was one particular car I was a bit agressive with, and from then on he was trying to shove me off the road at every corner. The way it blocks you from overtaking is absolutely incredible, it's like it knows where you're going to go before you do. It's thrilling.

The replays are excellent as well (I've watched a few all the way through, which I never usually do). The damage is excellent, if you do a little bump you get a tiny dent that the light reflects around. Brilliant stuff.

The whole thing is very cinematic, from the music to the very dark menus etc... It's a great experience. But I still hope they fix the bloody jaggies!!

I'm quite tempted to get this game. The aspects you described seem very appealing.

Anyone know if this game is multiregion?

I still want to know what the difference is between the normal and limited edition versions... I don't think they know themselves!

EDIT: They've announced it now...

Turn 10 said:
Then, there's the lingering question of the Forza Motorsport 2 Limited Collector's Edition, which includes a soundtrack CD, a special making-of book (which yours truly contributed to), as well as nicer packaging and different cover art. On top of all that, the LCE comes with a code that allows you to download three exclusive cars available only to those who own the LCE. While the Forza 2 LCE has been confirmed for Asia and Europe, I'm sorry to say that it will not be coming to the U.S. Was it a Turn 10 studio decision? Of course not. When it comes to retail matters, there are many internal and external forces at work in the channel. Unfortunately, it was decided early on that the U.S. wouldn't get the Forza 2 LCE. Why? You'll just have to chalk it up to one of life's great mysteries, I guess. So the question is, just how badly do you want the three exclusive cars ('06 Ford Saleen Mustang S281 E, '03 Ferrari Challenge Stradale, '06 Subaru Impreza S204) and how far will you go to track down a LCE?

...Nah, don't really think it's worth it. I'd only want the three cars (not into this "making of" crap), and they're not that special.

The cars will be auctioned off later aswell (online auction house), if i remember correctly.

@ Jack, from what ive read regarding AI, it actually learns during the career mode. So if you continually use certain bends or braking tactics to overtake they should realise it and actively combat / defend more when youre in those positions. Atleast thats what the developers have said, and from your experiences with the agressive racer it sounds like its true.

Also a nice element for those who love to do graphics work in these games, you can lock "your" design and actually sell it in the auction house.

^ this post also shows people who love racing sims why this is better than Gran Turismo in terms of core Gameplay!

Ooi, DJ Naaaooo

You cant help yourself regarding GT can you?!

But it doesnt matter, ill continue to bring harry enfield into it till you stop ;)

I find Hary Enfield Hilarious so I dont mind that :)

Sorry lads

Back on topic, has anybody found any forza2 previews yet? Eurogamer should have one this week, or should have had one last week, cant remember, as they have the game now. Curious to see how the full game shapes up.
