Looks nice so far and I can't see that "wrong" nose from the last seasons, looks finally like a "right" F1 car again.

Wait, that's the first time I see those bird-finger-noses. All other sketches so far didn't show that next design sin of F1 noses.

Edit: Especially the first sketch of your post shouldn't be real. A nose that's lapping over the front rear could cause crashes and I think the second sketch is more precise to what I'll look like.

the thing is: those early sketches were following rules to the letter. But teams don't want to have low, wide noses because those will restrict the airflow to the underside of the car and more importantly to the diffuser. And if you remember, this year they have no exhaust blowing on diffuser and they also lost lower rear wing (also called beamwing) due to it being banned by rules. So rear they have lost much of last years rear downforce and one of the ways to negate that effect is to feed as much air as possible under the car and to diffuser. So, they have still positioned their noses high (and short so that they stay inside space allowed for bodywork by rules) but than they added that thin extension so to bring tip of the nose down to mandated 185mm from the cars reference plane (a plane parallel and passing through the bottom of the car from which measures are taken).

So, they still have brought the noses down, but they have partially eliminated the obstruction for airflow to go backwards under the car.

lol what is that? it just looks incorrect. hope some teams don't chose this nasty anteater design..

Dude, that nose design looks so cheap...the picture of the Williams above could also be one of those cars Dallara created for the lower monocoque series...

It might look a bit cheap because that is a 3D render of their car (model used to test car in CFD and to produce molds to make parts). Real car will be presented on 28th (in 4 days) at 1st day of Jerez test. Tomorrow at 12:00 (English time) McLaren will present their car, followed by Ferrari on Saturday.

As for the nose: it has been reported that all teams will have that kind of nose with small differences in details. Only Lotus has been reported to have nose that is based of Williams' 2004 nose combined with that central thing that all others have

The search for ever greater aerodynamic efficiency means the days of aesthetically pleasing F1 cars are well behind us. I've resigned myself to odd looking and ugly cars from now on.

I do believe the sport has a duty to ensure that F1 cars are visually appealing to satisfy the fans and subsequently the commercial appeal of F1. How you police that is incredibly difficult. The sole concern of the teams is to produce the best car within the rules, not the prettiest car.

Oh, and that Force India livery is very nice even if the end of the nose cone may look a bit odd. I prefer the lower, sloping nose on single-seaters but the ant eater bit on the end will take some getting used to.

all serious F1 portals are reporting that FIA has said that they will look into tweaking the rules for 2015. to ensure better looking noses on the cars.

Well yes, McLaren had red on their cars because of Vodafone. In 2006 when they first came up with this chrome base their second color was black because title sponsor was Johnny Walker. When they parted their ways after 2006. Vodafone took as title sponsor so they changed their colors from black to red, with same chrome base. As for this year, we will probably find out their real colors at Jerez on Tuesday or in Melbourne.

All those designs are beautiful (although McLaren looks like "the real" Mercedes), but the cars itself don't look good and Lotus' nose is the icing on the cake. Honestly: WTF?!

yep. but a little correction: the title sponsor was west before vodafone.

West was from 1997 up to the Hungarian GP in 2005. Than they were without title sponsor for the rest of the 2005 (although team was still called West McLaren Mercedes as it was the name in which they entered the championship and it couldn't be changed until the end of the season) and on the place where usually was West there were drivers' names. It was than Johnny Walker in 2006 with Fly Emirates on wings:

And in 2007 came Vodafone (with Verizon at 2012 and 2013 US GP's and zain on few GP's)

yeah I see, thanks for the info but the thing is johnnie walker was never the 'title' sponsor as you know as well. I only meant to point this out.
