FIFA 22 Discussion (Console Versions)

But there is no comparison, the NG is absolute head and shoulders above last gen.

And you know me, so this hurts to say - The game is so much better on NG consoles than PC - Graphically and gameplay wise.

out of interest - how is the gameplay on NG better? I'm on PC and enjoying it but would like to know how the NG is different/better

I thought the only difference was the hypermotion animations which from what I have seen on YT videos look great and really add to the immersion

gameplay is the same, same AI patterns and same bugs with CB and lack of agression and too many shoots in top corner of goal :/ Next gen shine when it comes to net physics and ball physics, thats it.

Anyway, i noticed that game speed up since last update, its like EA increased agility and dribbling for every player. I didnt want to bring hysteria here but now i see that i am not only one who noticed it.... here we go again EA :TD:

What's all these shots in top corner ? Also I think the latest patch has actually slowed it down since earlier patch . Playing PS5

The whole reason I sent the video to @Emroth was to ask him, "am I going mad or did our games have nothing as bad as this"... and they didn't, but now it happens fairly regularly.

It's not completely ruined - but it's worse, and that makes me so sad.

Now I've had a taste of Hypermotion, I don't even want to say "just speed it up for the online guys". Screw that - turns out I'd love to play online... ***IF*** they stopped speeding it up.

I can clearly see the evidence in your video. I had one of those moments myself this week. One of my players was moving towards an air ball with increased speed. Like the skating but way worse… Just to be right on time for the defending header. It was so glitchy and a one timer, so I thought let’s move on.

had my first online experience today. I played three matches of squad battle and what can I say!? It’s online, with the lag I know from the games the years before, with the delay of my inputs I know from the games of the years before. This is played on normal speed, right?! Still the lag makes it feel like slow but the animations and online sorcery/trickery/boost’n’stuff is still frantic and over the moon and not football!

and all that pack opening bs… a freaking parade and bells and whistles for a badge? gimme a break!

well, offline career it is for me, Chris. Let’s hope patches won’t screw us very 3 weeks. Don’t necessarily have the urge to go back to vanilla. ;)

ps5 here, world class + slow and 70% AI shoots go into top corner of goal. I wish that players agility is as good as before patch but its noticable faster :DOH:

I never noticed that.. top corner shots I mean.. I think, coming from Pes with all the Low Pass + tap in, or Turn + shoot, I'd be sensitive enough to any bullshit like this..
 
I've had two CPU players getting a red card and I love it. Also what happened to all the shite about injuries and players being carried of or asking to be subbed when injured. Have anyone noticed any new boots since the latest update?
 
Played this since the trial and really enjoying it but also so frustrating at the same time. I play mainly career mode and online seasons. The defensive aspect of this makes me want to throw my controller through the TV. The way players twist and turn direction at lightening speed and tika taka their way around is ruining it in the majority of games. It’s so hard to defend against.
Online seasons is even worse when it comes to defending, 99/100 opponents try dribble straight through the team from kick off and it can be so hard to defend against with any lack of weight behind the players. End up hating at least 80% of games online as they don’t want to play football they want to play a game and exploit everything they can.
This is so close to been great but for a few tweaks.

Completely agree on the concept that Fifa feels a lot like "its own thing" at this point. The good is that there is depth and there are distinct moments in which it feels quite realistic.. but regarding the general flow, yeah I think there are past titles that do have a more simulative/logic structure all around (even if personally I kinda moved away from the sim/arcade debate, as I think there isn't a single on field playable football game that is more simulative than "arcade".. to me they are all arcades with more, or less sim elements, in short.. I know, it's just semantic but I feel like it's an important point to make :D ).

Anyway, if it keeps being fun and deep as I think it is now, I think I'll still keep play it for long regardless. But you never know what the next update will reserve, so.. we'll see I guess!

The last vid posted by @Chris Davies is what i saw Fifa on slow since even before.
I like to play online, and it was playable, how could you can't be disappointed? Every time i try, there's not only that, but also passing with super speed without control, like 4 pass a row, zero influence on midfield, and super accuracy. Totally arcade to me.

It's a pity to got to use slider for a game, i didn't have to do this even on FIFA 17 : speed is awful, no control passes too in any position, i can dribble with average player the same way i did with normal player, i don't get how to found it realistic or fun.

Because i'll be honest, except graphically, it's the worst Fifa i ever player with the 15 in terms of physics and speed. That really kills my mood : i've made a session of practically all old games, Fifa included, during 3 days, and none of them was that flash speed. It REALLY looks like the game wasn't at all designed to be played like that, and i'm pretty sure that's all because of those fucking kids on Twitter or Fifa forums.

AI doesn't makes everything, i don't care having a challenge because i got to super react on everything regarding defence, reactivity too. Sorry but that's really what i think, i try and think i'm wrong everytime. But i don't think, it's miles away from the "basics" we all agreed.

Sorry, but if we always contain what you think about that game... It's too much for me. I'm pretty disappointed by my 60 euros buy in vain, same for FIFA 20. 120 euros for shit.
And it's totally legit : i used to like Fifa before. But it's a no for that version. I prefers 11 to 19 than that than parody.

I don't know, perhaps your eyes are used if you played FIFA 21 before, but i couldn't on FIFA 20 (which was slower, but still too fast).
I will gives a last try tomorrow with sliders, on Semi. Last try, then i'll give up with that game and sold it.

TBH, there are probably better people who have played both for longer periods to come to a full logical conclusion.

But I played about 10 games on PS5 and played 3 on PC, it was different.
FIFA 22 on PC just felt like a patched version of FIFA 21, where as the NG version is a different game - It is just a better game.
It is not a simple case of like F1 2021, where I prefer the PC version over the PS5 version because the graphics are better and has a better frame rate so makes the experience slightly better.
FIFA 22 NG feels like a different/better game and for that reason, I wouldn't ever go and play the PC version.

I didn't really play it long enough to really go in depth of how it was different, I just loaded the PC version and played it a bit and thought WOW this is not as good as PS5.
Un-installed it and won't install it again - End of FIFA 22 PC for me this year - Hopefully next year the PC version will be next gen.

I know there's debate about this, but I'm in zero doubt that the gameplay is different on NG compared to CG. I played the PC version for over 40+ hours before I ever got my ps5. It's far more than cosmetic touches.

The easiest way to describe it without going into too many details: the whole flow of the game is different. The way teams move and position themselves is much better on NG. The way teams compress and decompress based on context is very different. The momentum of a counter attack for example. These elements have a very big impact in terms of outcomes on the pitch and how you play football. There are other elements also, but I think this is the most clear and obvious.

I think the PC version is also a good game and it's much improved from 21. The AI is better also and it does have some good elements in common with the NG version - but they are definitely different experiences.

More or less where I am and where I suspect many of the PES refugees are. I'd go for 8/10 right now, shading up or down.

I like the AI until it gets to the edge of my box, and then it's a video game. Sliders mitigate this to a huge extent though.

I'm enjoying Career Mode a hell of a lot.

Graphically on the Series S, it's not all that. An odd chalky quality to it. FIFA 16 on the PS4 actually looks sharper and brighter (tried it the other day).

The inconsistency of the passing on all settings is infuriating me at the moment. Players will regularly scuff a pass or underhit/overhit a through-ball. Diagonal lofted through-balls are one of the joys of football gaming but they're so unpredictable in FIFA 22. Either they sail majestically as intended, or your player does a weird two-yard scuff like a bad golfer in the rough. Always in a football game when this happens I ask, is it me or is it the game. Either it's an impressive simulation of passing skill based on player stats, position, and fatigue, or it's a balancing mechanic to prevent the human player getting too comfy. After about 100 matches now I'm inclined to think it's a mechanic baked into the game, like the over-reliance on hitting the woodwork to make things exciting and keep the ball in the mix (all football games have been guilty of this for years now).

They're nitpicks. Any good football game is more than the sum of its annoying parts and this one is for me.

Basically Default bumps players' stats so that they feel more like UT players, Classic keeps the stats normal, no boosts. I play on Classic.

Thanks for posting this. I had only been using default. I just tried Classic now with my sliders and the gameplay seems to have slowed down. Animations have improved and it’s much more difficult to just turn defenders and run right by them. I like Classic so far. I didn’t realise default bumped up acceleration by +6!

yeah, i set it myself to classic when @Emroth gave me the explanation for that feature and i never looked back.
this very feature makes a fuma fan like myself, whos currently in debate (and thinking) about stats and manual and what matters where, even more nervous. :CALM: i need to know whats up, dont want no surprises... you get me.

still i wonder why nobody is bothered by the locked air battles when playing full manual! hm... really grinds my gears...

setting it to classic will surely give your slider testings a more solid base.

I feel I'm going to have to get over it and embrace sliders. I don't like it, but if it means a bit more variety in the AI attack it could be worth it.

For me it has to be a winner on the pitch because I'm just going through the motions off it in Career Mode. 'Familiarity breeds contempt...' I say that almost squarely based on the scouting/transfer system, untouched for years now.

Totally agree on the graphics. All very pallid. And I'm fed up of playing Scottish Premiership games during what looks like a Mediterranean sunset. If only life would imitate art in this instance.

Even on full manual I'm sceptical whether there's total agency. I'm sure you could hit the exact same pass and get different results and there's still the feeling you're in the hands of the gods.

No idea, but I can tell you that Keepers at 100 (slider) does not mean their saving stats will be 100. There is a max increase/decrease that can be applied (this limit can be modded I think). Since these are lower rated teams I assume their stats are somewhere around ~60 and they just can't get to a high enough rating with sliders.

Making matters worse is that stats are exponential and the whole effort is on balancing the very best rated players with all the FUT boosts (probably why FUT players were saying GKs are too good this year, it's messed up, lol). Obviously no matter the stats, any keeper should be catching that ball...

Yeah I badly worded the video title in my haste! :) I checked and the keeper in question is 61, which is pretty low for the Championship and he's a backup for Hull so not overly sure why he was playing but he 100% should have caught that no question, my only thought was maybe somehow the CPU got mixed up with the whole backpass rule or something but really there's no excuse to mess that one up! I went on to win 8-1 so the keeper didn't have his best day!
 
First time today the CPU broke against me and 2 of it's strikers sprinted into the box unmarked while my defenders ignored them and shuffled back,.
