I wouldn't buy a new console for one game, but after playing both versions the next gen version is far superior.
It plays like a new game, where as the old gen version just plays like a well patched version of FIFA 21.

I honestly think if you're asking that question, then the answer's "yes", because you want to be playing the best version of the game and you wouldn't be asking if you couldn't afford it.

It's not just better graphics, it's different (more realistic) gameplay.

At least, it is right now. Pray they don't make it into a FUT player's dream in the first official patch.

If it makes it through day 1 patch, then the hunt begins for a ps5 in Australia - so hard to come by at the moment.

Once you’ve experienced the loads times,quick resume and controlller response on the next gen systems,it’s hard to go back.Especially with the increased fidelity on older titles as well.

A good option would be a series S..Great price,availability and your get all the next gen features of fifa22.If your still using a 1080p tv your getting a next gen system at a great entry level price.

If you don't want to buy a new console just for FIFA you could always try the stadia-version. You can play it on a computer and it works with ps4 controller. If you have a decent internet connection it works like a charm and has the next gen features.

If you want to play it on TV you need a chromecast ultra, though.

@dalby79 dont forget: the Series S has no disc drive! future patches might break your all digital expirience!

No worries Chris. I have to thank YOU for being so relentless with EA while speaking in the name of our community this whole time. I'm sure it pushed them to make the game better :)

Yeah it's the weirdest thing. At least I wont need to but a console to play it, unless they ruin the game with stupid updates, of course.

To be honest yes , I bought a ps5 for PES 22 (lol) and my 6 year old also plays fortnite , zombie hunters etc ..thankfully FIFA22 is awesome on next gen

I agree. It has to be something else related to memory specifications for each individual rig they couldn't adhere to. I'm not sure if that's Hypermotion that is making those 1,000 logical decisions in split seconds or what. As far as Stadia though, the PC rig is housed at their server location and the only stipulation is the end-users' connectivity, in which the stream quality is affected.

I have Stadia and have considered picking this up also, but I also just discovered PS remote play and it works great for my laptop upstairs (PS5 downstairs on the PC via capture card), so the Stadia version may not be needed. I'll probably still buy it to support Stadia as I absolutely love it - not to mention my kids play on Stadia a lot and it's about time I teach them about sliders. :GSCARF:
 
Im going with stadia as well. I have the series s but playing in any screen at home is very convenient. And it's the cheapest next gen version
 
a bit OT but I’ve had stadia for a while and think it works great. Don’t understand why not more people have tried it. Their marketing departement seems non existent though.
Hope FIFA 22 can help bring the masses to stadia so we can see more games on the platform in the future.
 
Looked at the stadia version but by time I’ve bought the chromecast and controller then the game it’s easily over 100 quid. Had a ps5 in my basket earlier at game and bottled it as couldn’t convince myself it was worth it for Fifa. All sold out again now 🤦‍♂️

Yes..
I have played it on PC and PS5, and you can't go back once you played the next gen version.
It is absolutely superior in every way.

As I said earlier the next gen version feels like they worked on it and it is a new game and plays like a simulation.
The only issue with it, is the skating is worst I have ever seen.

The PC version just plays like a very well patched version of FIFA 21.

Have to disagree on the skating part. PS5 looks better than last year due to hypermotion i guess.

There haven't been many footy games in the recent past that haven't had that skating look. For me, I get bugged by FIFA's animations when I'm not playing. It is sped up, and the limbs move much faster. I like to play on 30 FPS now, and actually, most sports games, because it reduces the effectiveness of those limbs being completely separated and it just "blends" nicely with the frames.

That is if you want to connect to the TV. You can also do with any computer / mac (and chrome-based browser) and a controller (I used to play with a DS4 on my mac and it worked fine; wired tho)

...I just realised google stadia isn’t even available in Australia, so no option for me!

No, same gameplay, same pattern how ai play ,same problem with no fauls and same AI behavior problems but next gen has smoother animations. Played both 2x10hours trials, ps4 and ps5. Its worth to buy next gen console for few better animations ? big no!! but if you own next gen console then big yes.

That 30fps "hack" is an absolutely brilliant idea!!
 
Fifa 22 is $62 in the Microsoft store for series consoles but there is also a xboxone version for $53 which says will run in the x/s series. If you buy the cheap one would you get the next gen one because of smart delivery? Or it just won't work on the new console?

They are treated as different games each other. It's like Gears of War is different from Forza. So there'll be no smart delivery through them.
