Looking at Battlefield V etc. I'm not sure it'd be considered to be "outdated" graphically by Joe Public. I think their continual evolution of it is pretty good (from a visuals standpoint), and as for PC graphics cards... Their focus isn't going to be PC gamers, is it - and next-gen consoles won't be PC-level advanced. If they are going to carry on with Frostbite, it's going to need to be something like Frostbite 2.0. It will start looking dated soon. Specially with the new Nvidia RTX gfx cards.
I'd love nothing more than for them to rip up Frostbite and build specific engines for specific purposes (prioritising graphics and button-latency isn't ideal for a sports game that could have a higher CPU focus on intelligence and strategy). But it's trailers and graphics that sell games to the masses - and their complete focus on Frostbite allows them to squeeze the most out of every game in terms of graphics, and in terms of (relatively) quick production time.
I don't see it changing any time soon. They're a business and from a business standpoint, it's a fantastic practice (best visual results leading to most product interest and best product uptake, with the quickest production time).
