FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

I was watching a local broadcast the other night where they showed a 4 screen split of different cup games being played at the same time (all at night). All 4 night games looked different in terms of brightness and colour saturation/palette. So to assume there's one correct setting that FIFA or PES should use is a bit simplistic I think. Personally it seems fine when I play the game (Xbox One).

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

I hope they rework the A.I. It was average on FIFA 14 but terrible on FIFA 15. It was terrible that they had to patch it somehow by handicapping users. They should just follow PES when it comes to A.I.

Ea following pes would be a horror story. Why not just play pes if you want pes a.i?

I can't deal with the animation, animation lock and a whole lot of other things. Although PES A.I is much more better than FIFA's scripted A.I.

What is wrong with the AI in FIFA, I love it when you winning 2-0 and they pull a goal back in the last 10 minutes they go Park the Bus and time waste... Does that sound like broken AI to you?

The AI in PES 15 was just football illusion. It looked good for the 1st week passing it around at the back but then it became one dimensional. They rarely cross, anything top level and above its try to cut inside and shoot to far post, they cant make a decision to purposely foul ie read the game and act accordingly.

i guess lighting is better in this photo and it looks real

Sorry, but i think EA must made better work with illumination and even more knowing that uses Ignite engine...

I have the feeling that if they wanted could improve much enlightenment.

Look at this PES6 stadium night illumination, using the limitations of the old RenderWare engine.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

I've watched a few videos of this and it still looks like the game runs waaaay too fast.

Do the EA team actually watch real football? You just know that this is going to be a speedfest online as it always is.

It's a shame because the core gameplay in FIFA is very good. It just doesn't feel right to me. Plus the player models are always horrible and that makes such a difference.

I get you.. but ALL a.i code is scripted. Game code is not dynamic... its scripted to cater for many different scenarios.. PES A.I is also 'scripted'. I much prefer FIFA A.I. The decision making is much more advanced. Computer is much more aware of gaps during attacks and uses counter attack opportunities in a very 'human' like manner. Pes for me feels like on rails with very limited a.i decision making.

I dont think its a matter of E.A not understanding real football. Its a matter of trying to replicate what happens in real football in a game. Knowing how real football plays is one thing, replicating that using lines of code is another ball game. Otherwise all games(shooters, racing etc) would be perfect!

True!

I think I'm just sick and tired of the FIFA games now. I've bought every one since FIFA 07 but I've never played any of them and thought "Wow, this is good." There's always been a niggling feeling at the back of my mind that the game is a million miles away the fun I was having with PES 1, PES 3, PES 5 and even PES 6.

I think the tide is turning again though. The PES 2016 demo is superb and this is good and it will make EA think long and hard about where their game is going.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

It looks slower, I see more interceptions, I see better defending, and that's all I really wanted this year. I've really enjoyed playing FIFA 15 (against the CPU) except for a handful of things, one of which is the AI always playing the same way, and another being how they refuse to cross but try to pass the ball into the net instead, and I don't imagine either of these issues will be fixed, sadly.

But my bigger problem was feeling like defending was a blunt weapon, against the AI or against other people - if you could dribble, you could beat anyone. This finally looks like it's more balanced (and a step closer to FIFA 14 which was a better game in this sense, IMO).

Of the two games, I think it looks much closer to a simulation than PES does this year (where players don't even need to make a kicking motion to ping the ball off at 100mph to the next guy, who does the same thing to the next guy, who does the same thing to the next guy).

I just hope, really hope, it's as good as it looks. If it's just 15 with the 5 crossed out and a 6 scribbled above it, I'll be genuinely gutted.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

I don't understand Chris, you find PES 2016 too fast but you're looking forward to FIFA?

My main gripe with FIFA is that it is always super fast. And sliders don't help me as they always mess something up elsewhere.

FIFA 16 just looks like a tweaked version of the same old to me, hope I am wrong and it turns out good.

The only thing I'm not convienced about is the passing with purpose animation just doesnt look natural and the speed of the ball.. and the accuracy of trapping the ball at that speed.

Real football and how people play football games online bear almost no correlation, which is why I have zero interest in playing Fifa online. Obviously if you only play against friends or only play against like-minded people it's a bit more tolerable but it doesn't change from the fact that 99.999% of people play games online to win and they don't care how they go about that.

+1000

That's why my interest in playing online = ZERO. I'm also not interested in FUT, beating all kids out by holding LB at all times, obviously playing Barca, Real on Man City (or teams built of players rated 89+).

Offline matches, adjusting sliders or adding a gameplay patch up that helps getting out the most possible realism into a match. This is what I'm focued on and none of gameplay videos is able to emphasie me any of newly developed features by the time the game is tested by myself. Quite long time to wait for the demo, but I hope we won't be disgruntled.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

I prefer single player as well - but FIFA again doesn't deliver in that department. Every single CPU team plays the same.

If FIFA 16 can vary the way the CPU plays it might be interesting. The whole experience is shallow for me.

Respectfully disagree. As an example the difference between Stoke and Athletico are miles apart

This x1000. I understand it would be low on FIFA's prorities because getting users online is a focus, as is FUT, but man if they could just spend a year fixing the CPU AI it would be a wonderful game.

The engine is fine, the graphics are great, the modes are good - everything is in place except really focussing on making the CPU (both opponent and your teammates) really move and 'think' like actual footballers.

Maybe it's impossible, I dunno, but that really is all it needs imo.

Because the CPU A.I is so generic. They reuse the same static A.I for every matches making it feel like all the teams play the same tika-taki 1 on 1 football since CPU A.I's tactic's broken in FIFA 15. Just play few matches against different teams in FIFA 14 and then do the same in FIFA 15 and you will know what I mean. It is some lazy work from E.A that needs to be sorted so that they don't need to bring back handicapping to patch the broken A.I. That way we can see some teams playing long ball whilst other player counter attack or possession. More info in this thread: http://www.operationsports.com/foru...al-fifa-15-custom-team-tactics-ai-thread.html

Edit: If anyone have access to the BETA, can you record gameplay against Legendary or World Class A.I against few different teams?
Edit 2: Nevermind, don't record since they said it on the Terms of Agreement. Just play against different teams and check if teams have different style of play.

2:10 - I've noticed something new in keepers' animation. Looks good.
However, they still didin't add any of cutscenes between penalties in penalty shootout and none of new animations after succesful penalty are added as well.

EDIT :

But, finally the winning team is celebrating their success. I really love that part where you take the control over the last shooter to run toward the rest of the team, or wherever you want (probably) to celebrate over beaten rival.

Is this a night game?
Women's game is exactly the same game as the men.. just new player models. They run on the same code just lower stats.. thats it. .
I see them often failing to achieve a clean first touch. It wasn't the case with men in the videos I posted.

What I don't like about that video is that, playing with men, looks like the "sprintfest" isn't over yet. Look especially at minute 6:20 onwards.
