FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

Let's hope some of the tactics may have more effect. While not perfect, Krebstar from Op Sports came up with good ones for alot of teams, but last year he said they didn't have the same effect for some reason, so it was a bit useless.

It is odd, as sometime in the Spring, EA released a blog about tactical tips and how you could set them to produce certain team tendencies like the kind of passes they would play and the shooting tendencies of the team.

It struck me as odd that they would make a blog if the tactics didn't have much effect, and I just haven't had time to look into it further while playing.

Seems like a lazy job for the programmers to have vital function to be not effective at all. Purely because of the FIFA fan base who do not care about tactics at all and just play matches online. I hope they fix it this time. It's not the most complicated/hardest thing to do.

Edit: Here is a good read here http://www.operationsports.com/features/1976/fifa-15s-tactics-are-a-disappointing-mystery/

Latest videos are amazing! Seem that fifa16 will be the best in the series! And will be more amazing in manual controls!!! Looks much better and realistic than pes16 this year!

"Jordi Alba beats Terry in a header, well done EA"

AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

R.I.P. Simon Humber.

Sadly he was one of the better EA producers who interacted with the fans. Discussed with him and others way back in the day in 2010 about the North Korea kits for the world cup game. The last EA FIFA game i actually liked.

Good die young :(

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

That's a great gameplay vid. Very encouraging.

do you guys like those bullet passes?? player receives the ball like magnet on the boot !! this is the only thing i am hating after watching those video.

Yeah, it's what worries me the most at the moment. It's got exploit written all over it and you'd just fear that online play might be kids spamming those passes. We'll see.

I was never a fan of those passes. I hope it depends on a lot of player stats and even good players should have errors. I would hate to see every players receiving the ball without any problem.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

There was one point I really liked in the Twitch video where there's a long clearance from the Barca defence following a corner and Matic goes to control it but takes a terrible first touch and it bobbles away from him, looked quite realistic.

Visually I thought the IGN video looked very poor, colours were very flat but much better on the Twitch video.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

I still see they haven't sorted the kit colour clash with Goalkeepers wearing the same as opposing team, Gladbach keeper wearing black like dortmund team.

Did anyone post that one already?

It looks good so far. A couple of tweaks is needed like the strong pass first touch error should be increased depending on the player stats and a bit more midfield battle.

One thing that worries is the A.I. After FIFA 12, it kept going downhill and the solution for FIFA to fix that issue was scripting. Like all the CPU players dribbling like Hazard and Messi and score goal from 1 on 1 pin point passes, doesn't matter which team or player they played with. They should really be following their team tactics because I don't like playing FUT so I highly depend on them.

Also is the legacy defending going to function properly now? Defending was almost impossible with legacy defending on FIFA 15 and for a PES player like me, I do not want to switch the defending all the time since I play both of the games.

Well at least it's realistic.

Those two clips was the only thing FIFA 15 A.I team watched before they made the A.I. The problem is that doesn't happen in every match, with every team and almost every player.

Edit: That Barca vs PSG video, midfield looks more prominent. I am pretty impressed actually.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

FIFA 16 better feel good when playing it because I see nothing really new.
I mean... what we can get from these little gameplay videos could have been achieved with a patch for FIFA 15. Positioning changes, ball physics changes, AI changes and little more really. I was looking forward to see lots of new animations, a lot better player individuality (running and dribbling styles and better body models, more specific).

I really hope some true HD @60fps video emerges within the next month or so, that's going to make me change my mind.

I agree. I'm not writing it off as I'm still playing FIFA 15 but videos are only good for hyping us up or letting us down. Putting the game on with a controller in your own hand for a while is the only way to see what's changed from year to year and whether you like those changes.

It's great to see more interceptions happen in midfield but it's a moot point. How many people do you play against that pass through the middle?! They run down the wings or they chip it over the top. How will the interception and midfield battle "feature" fix that? I don't think it will.

I'll try the demo and go from there but I don't think there's any massive improvements apparent from the video. Maybe there will be when you play the game but it looks fairly similar to FIFA 15.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

Exactly, which makes one wonder... if THIS IS THE ONLY THING THEY GOT TO HYPE US UP THEN... it will be pretty disappointing, right?. Look at PES, they haven't even really talked a lot about game modes, licenses, etc, yet from what they've shown about the ON THE PITCH stuff you can already see a lot of differences with PES 2015.

So once again... if this is all EA can show to get us hyped up, then it's kind of worrying. If I put an updated-modded FIFA 15 video with the same teams, in the same day-time, same stadium side to side with a FIFA 16 one, I bet no one would be able to tell one apart from the other.

I've played both games extensively last year and this one too, I love switching from one to the other after sticking with the other game for a while and then switching back, back and forth all year. 2-3 months with FIFA, then PES for 2-3 months, then FIFA, then PES, lol.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

This looks fabulous. Again, maybe it's my eyes, but all I have is these videos and I hardly see any skating/gliding when running and changing directions, which is a good thing for me. Looks to have much improved first touch too :)

In this Video the players look less skaty. One major gripe that prevented me from playing Fifa until now.

I am quite thrilled now tbh.

Same here.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

It's looking absolutely incredible. Defensive positioning is solid, they are aware, less attention deficit defending, more variety in passes, actually having to break down a defense, fouls being called.

The list goes on.

The only gripe, is just tone down that pass speed a bit, but then again it could be because it's on Normal speed - I'll be visiting slow speed again like all previous years.

Great start, let's hope what we see makes it to the full game, not just the demo.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

I don't care much about passing speed because I can alter than in the sliders. The other stuff that matters to me though can't, and they look good in that video.

Re: FIFA 16 News & Discussion Thread

Excellent.

Looks very promising. The presentation during the game is great too, even down to the team score and goalscoreres flashing up at the bottom during the start of the second half. Nice texts, nice fonts, clear. Like it.
