Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

FIFA 15 video series starting at 4pm UK time. Guess EA are gonna 'show' their game unlike previous years.

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

Any idea where can I watch that? This is the first time I'm hearing such a thing. :D

EDIT: Just saw the video on YouTube. :)

Well, I would say that the game does look way more detailed than the Last gen version.

Many cool stuff added that makes the visuals more dynamic (crowd looks better and more well animated, the splash effect in the rain looks cool and etc), but I still Think it could be a bit more photorealistic, wich may be a case of better art direction, because the tech is there and seems to be very good.

It doesn't look as photorealistic as that NHL 15 video, wich looks insanily good. I think it's just easier to get the lighting and colors right in indoors enviroments.

But I'm satisfied with what I'm seeing.

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

Indeed, looks good, but wondering how it plays on field actually. Come on EA, show us, on pitch improvements next! :)

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

FIFA is deffo using Image-based lighting on the stadiums, and color palette will be subjective to it. It's gonna look fantastic in some stadiums and still "cartoony" on those that still depend on artistic input.

I also believe player models get desproportional because of their "procedural animation system" that heavily and increasingly relies on IK for everything (probably THE game that uses it the most, other games use it for collisions, specific actions, cloth and hair, but FIFA uses it for the most basic of player motions), meaning that instead of having to blend together tons of little animations, they constantly adapt (move, rotate) the individual body parts in each animation to match the desired motions.

They do this since the very start of the last gen, but it still doesn't look completely natural. They probably need to abuse it in order to have the instant response times their core fanbase seems to like so much while still adding new animations on top.

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

looks nice. Those little touches will make it look fantastic.

I also want the AI to be a lot more intelligent. Long range shots would be nice and conceding a variety of goals would be good also - not get to the byline and cut it back for a tap in every time.

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

simply amazing that new clip.

i think this burried any hope for pes this year. those mechanics i've seen is unreachable level for current pes team.

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

I cannot choose right now.
Both of them look promising, I just hope that they won't do like past year with the demos (Konami releasing it when I already decided not to buy the game and EA, well, releasing the demo of "game A" and then publishing "game B").

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

Will still come down to CPU AI for me. As lovely as it all looks, I'm still not an online footie gamer, and the last 2 FIFA's have basically been less enjoyable than not playing for me in Career Mode. There's no difference between teams you play, and the weaker teams often becomes gods, whereas the great teams are strolls. Makes no sense.

Personally doubt EA will fix that. They want us online and spending money on UT.

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

For all of their recreations of famous grounds, why has no football game ever tried to replicate the individual net styles of each stadium?

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

Yeah I thought that was a rather odd comment, I guess with PES fans there's always hope! :)
Well to be honest I was a PS2-era PES fan that got deluded, switched to FIFA from 11 onwards (skipping FIFA 13) and now is considering this year a crucial one.

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

I think no matter what camp you reside you cant ignore those graphics for what they are, definitely coming of age with what you would expect, maybe expected sooner in many ways.

So the eye candy is in, now for getting your hands on a controller and playing it, if it plays football like it looks then I think many will be more happy than last year, but, like years before if it looks like that and feels speedy & floaty and well, "2014 ish" ... that will be a shame.

EA, well, releasing the demo of "game A" and then publishing "game B"

Yes, they did tarnish things with this, some people I know on other forums stuck to editing the demo for months before buying the full game because the demo didn't reflect final code, (speed mainly.)

For all of their recreations of famous grounds, why has no football game ever tried to replicate the individual net styles of each stadium?

Ive noticed on other forums and official, mentioning nets is like poison or some dark disease :CONFUSE: Stock answers are normally "THEY NEED TO FOCUS ON THE GAMEPLAY THAN NETS OMFG!!!! LOZZZZ!!!" and other comments.

I'm definitely in the camp that there are far more important things to get right before nets should become a priority :)

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

Your right as well mate, I agree but it is important.

If they were like cages and didn't move it would be to the detriment of the game.

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

Nets are hugely important IMO.

You want to feel like you have scored a goal and this is a huge part of it.

It's true. WENB made nice review of this.

4. The satisfying sound and look as the ball nestles into the back of the net. "Swoosh" as it ripples around the onion bag from a sweet powerful curling effort, or the awesome rebound as you bang it in from 3 yards and it rolls back out to the feet of the dejected defenders.

(PES: no net sound. the ball hits the net and almost flies through it, bringing with it a jagged cone of weirdness that isnt even possible.)

Yeah, nets in PES went pretty much downhill recently and NO, painting the nets with the home team colours just makes things worse to me.
I miss PES5-style nets nowadays.

On the other hand, I was pretty satisfied by how the nets were in FIFA 12. Despite not having too many shapes (basicly... They were two) and having only one pattern (squares) I liked the idea to change depth and import personalized images for certain stadia (HSH Nordbank Arena, for example, with the HSV logo added) as it gave more variety.
FIFA 14 ones (PC here) are screwed, they were so in the demo and they are so after 9 months from the release and no-one even cared (see below what I mean, it mainly happens during replays but it may happen also during gameplay).

I don't look for life-like physics or such, but at least having more variety in shapes/patterns (at least a choice between square/hexagonal pattern, both games had it, yet both games got it stripped) and physics resembling either the PES 5 or the FIFA 12 ones would be good.

Re: Fifa 15: Any info yet?

I believe that thing with nets is something screwed up in card drivers.

I believe Fidel found a way to fix it with his HD Graphics patch. After using it for a while, I didn't see that problem with black nets on replays/transitions.

Hopefully, it's fixed for FIFA 15 on PC. Hope ^^.
