Fifa 12 Career Mode Discussions

Second season over with Arsenal, did the league and FA cup double.

Got knocked out in the quarters of the Champs League (I got through the group stages after all after thinking I needed a win or a draw to get through...silly Bobby)

Knocked out the league cup really early on by fielding a really weak team.

I am going to blood alot of youngsters this season so I will find it a struggle, but I want to start at least every game with at least 3 youngsters and see how I get on.

My objectives this season are to Avoid relegation in the prem leaguem which is ridiculous as I have won it two years on the bounce!

Also to reach the group stages of the champs league, which obviously I have already done after winning the league  so that was a bit lame. Also the clubs that wanted my were pish and not realistic at all.

Anyway hopefully less of these annoying things pop up.

I am selling Gervinho and trying out Miyaichi and Wellington on the left wing this season and going to play Jenkinson more and more at right back. So I might buy a keeper to back up Scez and thats it. We will see :))

Found a few good players through scouting a big chinese forward who looks really promising and an English defender that has done well when coming on.

Championship Campaign - Season 2
The campaign started off strange. The players that dominated League One struggled, and those that started the season well managed to pick up 3 month injuries! I ended up selling my 2 top scorers, and putting faith in my new Aussie striker Matt Simon (£500k) & Jordan Slew on loan from Blackburn. It seemed to work as the second half of the season saw a lot of 1-0 & 2-0 wins in my favour, and after a good battle with West Brom I managed to win the Championship, so double promotion for me :)

Season 3
I wanted to make some improvements to my team to challenge in the Premier League, but didn't want to make wholesale changes.
I had quite a few players out of contract, so let the rubbish youngsters go, but panicked when my star GK (John Smith, who always starts as a freebie) refused to sign up. My highest earners are on £6k a week, but shifted the transfer/wage structure to match the boards £20k recommendation for him, but he still said no.
As soon as season 3 started, a quick look at the free agents revealed that no-one had signed him, so he accepted a £4k, 4 year offer - who said footballers were silly?
The board gave me £8m to avoid relegation, so opted for a better back up GK, a replacement CB, 2 wingers (one being Andros Townsend from Spurs) & 2 strikers to rotate with Simon & Slew (who was snapped up as soon as the window opened - £1.2m thank you very much!) I also opted for Buttner on Placebo's recommendation, as my 1st choice LB brought in a good offer :)

I'm only 5 games in, but have impressed so far by winning 3, drawing 1 & losing 1 to be in the top 4. Hopefully it'll last, but I haven't met the big boys yet! I did whoop Arsenal 4-0 at home, but that was their fault for leaving the star players on the bench (sorry Bobby!)

I found a good RB/CB if anyone needs one, or at least suitable backup: Pedj Bojic from the Aussie league. He has the Engine & Team Player traits, so is happy bombing forward to be a 3rd striker then sprinting back to get in position. It was quite a shock when I first saw it happen!

Oooh you have to let me know how Buttner does for you, I think he's awesome! Going to be my first purchase when I start a new CM after the transfer window update, he's going to destroy League1!!!!!

Quick question... I just wrapped up Skyrim (finally) and am looking to start a new CM. I haven't played since the November update that changed player growth. How has that affected things? I assume it was meant to reduce the number of 99/99/99/99/etc physical beasts... does it do that?... or something else?

Thanks.

I'd like to know this aswell because almost every player in my current CM is Usain Bolt, pretty ridiculous really. I'm starting fresh 2, just need to fing myself a decent lower rated squad, so I can work my way up again.

For some reason I enjoy playing with lower rated players instead of the star players.

I know what you mean Scorpio.

How about a 2. Bundesliga side?

I'm also wondering about eatonTJ's question by the way.

What's the most seasons people have done? I am just on my third and trying to get all my youth players good enough to play in the first team. By next season I want to be playing a youth defender, midfielder and striker regularly...maybe more :)) already got a few I am playing always agianst lessor opposition.

I've only gone up to two, after that I just want to restart with a young team always and I never seem to keep up with scouting enough. Although I want to.

Maybe next CM I'll go with a lower side and spend all the transfer funds on scouting for the future.

Yes, the November update fixed those growth issues completely in my opinion. No more ridiculous 99 /acceleration/speed/agility et cetera. Thank God.

I also have a question, I think I read something about this earlier, but I'm not sure: I had scouted some youth players and moved them up to my squad. However, I couldn't sell them. Everytime I accepted an offer, it was as if I "stalled" my decision. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and know a way around this?

At the moment I've almost rounded off my third season in a row, for the first time ever. I managed AS Roma for two seasons (Bojan at LF is amazing; he grew only 2 points in two seasons, from 78 to 80, but he was brilliant from the start) and then I went to CP Sporting in Portugal, which is also a fun team to play with. I don't know if I wanna do another season after this one, I'm much more inclined somehow to start a completely new CM. But who knows, maybe I'll get an offer I can't refuse.

hi, do you guys know a way to buy a player, when his team say they don't want to sell him because they got not enought players at his position ! (don't know the exact sentence, i play in french ) i've tried to rise up the fee but they still answer the same thing !

Unfortunately you can't do anything, there's an LB I've been after for ages at a Norwegian team who looks fantastic but I can't sign him :( Real failing in the AI team management sadly, even if they have only 1 LB on their books if you're offering £20m for a £2m player they have to accept it surely?

How do you get your promoted youth team loaned out aswell? I have brought in about 5 into the team but they have low stats, so wanted to loan them, but nobody seems to be wanting to loan them out?

I'm not quite sure of the ins and outs but my understanding is that there's a bug stopping 16-18 year olds on >£1,000 going out on loan, I remember reading something along those lines on the EA forums, some suggest putting them up for short term loan but I'm not sure if that'll help or not.

Ah, thanks.

Cool. Only thing left is finding a decent low rated squad with real profile pictures and preferably good looking kits.

That's the problem I was having :D
I settled on Forrest again, but this time I wont be signing tons of players, I'm going to scout British talent and try and build from that instead.

I wanted to do AZ again or something but having no lower league and the only fresh competition being Euro League or CL would make it boring.

Dynamo Dresden, Scorpio.

Nice looking Black and Yellow kits, All players except like one or two have real pictures. Some real differentiation in squad as well like a nice tall Czech target man Striker + 2 faster paced ones.

Some different nationalities but mostly German including a very fast Marcel Heller who can play Right winger or as a 2nd forward. I'm enjoying this and recommend it.

Plus on top of all this, the club has a small budget and has just been promoted to 2. Bundesliga and is a HISTORIC club from East Germany with a big fan-base so it's always nice to awaken a sleeping giant and bring them back to glory days slowly but surely. :)

How is player individuality this year PLF? Does it come close to the glory days of PES 5?

I think it's fairly alright bud.

I mean research can always be better in my opinion but I'm reasonably pleased with what FIFA presents. In most teams (even many lower sides), there is enough individuality to keep things fresh and interesting.

Yeah I think individuality is great this year, certainly in comparison to previous years. I signed a Dutch U-21 international with the 'Ariel Threat' card and he is an absolute beast. With pass error ramped up a bit in the sliders, technically gifted players stand out more too. They pass the ball just that little bit more smoothly if that makes sense.

Absolutely agree, and the thing I love about good passers, play a short pass well and they put the ball in front of the recipient so they don't lose stride, use a bad passer or make a bad pass and the ball will be to the player meaning they have to stop to receive it, or even behind the player and they have to move back to retrieve it.

Thanks for the info PLF, I'll check them out. ;)

Thanks for the info guys. My game arrives this week. I just hope transfers get patched. I don`t want to see guys like Messi and Ronaldo moving to different clubs. Would kinda make CM a bit unrealistic.

I've never seen Ronaldo or Messi move within the first 3 season amigo but yeah it's true that a lot of players do and transfers are too frequent generally speaking.

Similar to this i have found that good young players i have purchased and then immediately placed on loan won't be taken by anyone in their first season. I understood that this was a feature of career mode this year but it doesn't seem to work for me. Interestingly, and apologies if this is old news, if i go into the transfer "Sell" screen and remove them from loan they default to "purchased this season" soi wonder if there is still a default mechanism that will prevent newly purchased players being sent out on loan.

I had that problem not with newly purchased players but with YOUTH that I had promoted to senior team.

It actually turned out to be a big problem for me and even led to a freeze a couple weeks after, so even a bit of a show-stopper bug.

I'd promoted 5 high potential youth to my team but they were just 16 year olds who were nowhere near good enough for team right now so I put all 5 up for loan hoping they'd get playing time elsewhere. One or two were loaned out but rest became "Loaned Out" without me ever actually getting a loan offer from another club or accepting anything, I thought that was odd so I 'recalled' them from their loan (keep in mind, I never loaned them out anyway) and they became 'Purchased this season' players.
